What I could say: Had to wake up super early to get through airport security with the boot (pain in the ass) and catch my flight home after barely getting any sleep last night. All I want to do is sleep, but I still have to go down to my family's Labor Day BBQ. If they had told me about this earlier, I would have scheduled my flights differently so I wasn't so exhausted. UGH.

What I choose to say: I'm glad I get to spend some time with my family this weekend even though I was out of town for most of it.
