With the way the class oogled and whispered you'd think that they'd never seen a girl before, gawking at her like some shiny new specimen! A scoff escapes frowning lips, arms supporting the back of his head as he leaned back against the stiff school chair. Monotonous days like go by like minutes, all at once too fast and agonizingly slow, heads filling with the dull sludge that oozed out old sensei's mouth as though they hadn't toed the line of death mere days ago ā
His frown deepens, eyes staring distant out the window at nothing in particular. Such dismal thought had always lingered in the back of his head, though they seemed to make themselves known more ever since he saw lil Sakura lying so still and so quiet in the hospital bed; louder still the day he snuck out with Ken, when his vision was full of clashing metal and alien limbs and orange liquid that lingered in his jacket with the stink of blood. It only took one moment to realise just how thin the line was; it kept creeping up on him and seizing his minutes.
He couldn't really fault the class then, for being excited at a new classmate ( even if his own excitement was dulled now having been spent just the day before on teasing Shinji about getting to spend so much time with girls ). After all, where was the harm in getting buzzed about a new face?
Gaze finally breaking from the window, he looks over at the new girl now introducing herself with a nice smile, her name written neatly on the chalkboard ā only to still when those green eyes suddenly meet his, brows raising then furrowing again in slight bafflement. His eyes flicker away then back again, one of the hands behind his head lifting in a small two-finger wave.
The hell was she looking at him for?
