TBH it’s kind of sad to see this tag (Cajun) mostly being filled with food. Like I’m sorry we are more than just are food. Well food is one of the ways we have preserved our culture, acting like our food is the only thing we have left is a lie. There is so much more to the cajun subset of Louisiana Creole identity, as it is with all the other subsets of the Louisiana creole identity. We have festivals, music, artwork and handcrafts, folk lore and traditions, dances, and of course our  languages. To act like the only thing left of our culture is just food and the only thing we are is just food (I have told people I was Cajun-Creole and they’ve literally said “Like the spices”) imagine just doing that to any other ethnic group, it would be really weird and it’s still weird when you do it to Cajun and creole people. Or how often our creole identity is replaced with Haitian Creole, now of course we love our cousins in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, but as connected as we are, we are still different ethnic groups, this is especially a bad with creoles of colour and Cajuns of colour. That’s it that’s my little rant, we just want basic respect that’s it. Please don’t call my ethnic group spices.
