Twilight Sparkle

Twilight Sparkle was sitting in the quiet, dusty library, doing more research on magic, as usual. The book she had been reading had not been particularly helpful - most books in her world had no idea what they were talking about when it came to magic, as she had quickly learned. Humans weren’t used to it, so it made sense. Yet that didn’t stop her from trying them out anyway.

“Hm. I’m not sure, I believe it was meant for me, but someone else actually had and used it before me. Her name was Gloriosa Daisy.” She paused to look at her amulet for a second.

“It corrupted her when she used it, though. But she also had all my friends amulets too, so I don’t know if it was just from using amulets not meant for her, or if it was from using all seven at once. I always assumed the latter, but I’ve never really known for sure.”

Twilight smiled. If she were lucky, this version of her would be almost equally as curious about how exactly it worked as she was, which could easily be used to her advantage.

“Well, why don’t we find out? I mean, we might not have the others here with us now but… Perhaps we could test it out anyway?” She tried to keep her voice level, but she was nearly overflowing with excitement.

Twilight: I don’t think that’s how that works.. But moving on! L!

Humans weren’t used to it, so it made sense. Yet that didn’t stop her from trying them out anyway.

If Twilight wasn’t weirded out before, she definitely was now. But she also understood what it was like to not know the details of something that you desperately wanted to, especially when you had been researching it for a while. She smiled awkwardly.

“No, I’m not a pony. I’ve always been human, my magic when I went to summer camp with my friends. We all got these amulets at the same time, I turned mine into a bowtie!” She explained, pointing at her pink bowtie that was centered on her shirt. She paused to think for a moment. “Actually, I’m not sure if it can be used in other universes! Let’s find out.”

Twilight pointed her finger at an empty can that was lying on the sidewalk next to them and used her magic to put it into a trash can nearby, the tin can glowing pink as it moved. She smiled wide in excitement. “It can! Fascinating!”

Twilight stood in shock for a moment before grinning. It was an absolutely unpleasant grin, much too wide and seemingly unnatural for a person. This was perfect. Another version of herself, and one with magic, at that! Could this be any more perfect? She had so many questions.

“Your magic… Can anyone use it? Is it tied to that amulet, or is it tied to you, specifically?” Even if it was, surely another version of her could use it too. If the magic was contained in the amulet, Twilight may have no use for this other version of herself at all. But she would keep her around either way, just in case. Stealing it shouldn’t be too hard.
