You made breakfast like you always did. With nothing much to do, you’ve started to perfect your craft at cooking, and it is starting to pay off. Your husband who already loved your cooking, started loving it more now. You recently discovered souffle pancakes and were obsessed with making them. You’d chop up fresh berries and dress them up into all kinds of shapes. Bears, hearts, with cute smiling faces, topping them with powdered sugar.

And every-time Pauly ate you’d watch intensely, waiting for his eyes to widen in surprise. “Wow, you did it again,” he’d say with a smile on his face while he gushed about how lucky he was to have married a wife like you. And how he’d be starving all the time if it weren’t for you.

“Now I’m just wondering who’s a better baker, you or Charlotte?” Pauly teased, trying to rile you up early in the morning. You’re almost offended, but you knew this was just Pauly’s way of trying to get you started. You and Charlotte have been in a passionate yet civil competition to see who could really bake the best. And for those first few years, Charlotte has come out as the victor each time. But now you were finally on par with her, and you needed a rematch.

It wasn't a competition, but being able to say you made the better peach cobbler would put you on a high you wouldn't come down from for a while.

“You’re married to me, so you’re supposed to be biased towards me.” You pinched his ear, dragging it with light force as a subtle warning. “Hey, watch out; if you injure me before my mission, the commander will be mad.” Pauly smirked, pushing himself out of the chair and wrapping his arms around you. He noticed as your smile faltered, remembering his mission. To him, stuff like this was no big deal, but he knew you and how you had a tendency to overthink and get your pretty head into a twist. “Hey hey…” he sighed, realizing it was a bad joke. Pauly brought his hand underneath your chin, forcing you to look at him to see that he was still alive and well. “You’re always so nervous; you don’t need to worry about me.” But you couldn’t help it; you fell in love with a reckless man even if you didn’t want to admit it. Just some weeks ago when Pauly was changing, you noticed the bruises on his body. And when you asked why, as usual, he said it was confidential.

You hated that, absolutely you did. It was hard to feel completely secure in your relationship when you knew that Pauly would always have to hold stuff back about him and his job. Sometimes you wished you’d convinced Pauly to just become an engineer, something boring, something that would guarantee you and your husband got to grow old together. But this was his passion; Pauly loved his work and he wouldn't trade it for the world. Taking away his job would be like taking a part of him. “Yeah, I am…” you mumble under your breath, resting your head on his chest. “But good wives worry for their husbands, right?” You smiled forcing a chuckle, to leave your chest.

“Well, a good wife would’ve sat down and eaten with her husband. Instead of watching him eat like a psycho,” a smirk grows across Pauly’s face, and he knows he’s made you laugh when you step on his shoe with the heel of your foot.

As you saw him off at the door, you leaned against the frame of the door while crossing your arms. Pauly turned around, noticing the slight frown on your face. Believe him; he hates leaving you just as much as you hate seeing him leave. “I’ll be back before you know it.” He gives you a kiss, and then another one, and another one, and another one. He doesnt stop till your giggling trying to pull away. “See, that’s the face I married.” Pauly smiles and gives you one more kiss before getting into the car and driving away. “Have a good day at work!” You yell out and walk back inside.

With nothing to do, you decided to pay the Hanlon family a visit. Charlotte was one of the few you could lean on when that wandering mind of yours made you all nervous.

After the Sewer mission

You were just at the Hanlon’s house chatting with Charlotte when her husband suddenly came home. His clothes ruffled and dirty, he looked anxious, and he couldn't hide it when he made eye contact with you. “Excuse me…” Charlotte excused herself and brought Leroy to their bedroom, where she came out looking uncomfortable herself. You couldn't even get a word in before Leroy drove you home. You agreed and on the way there kept trying to ask questions. None of which Leroy would answer, and it only made you more nervous.

For the next hour you sat frantically in your house waiting for something. You heard a knock at the door and sprang to your feet and saw a team of people. Your heart sank to your stomach as you invited them in. You prepared for the worst, but even as they told you your husband died, you lost it. Tears ran uncontrollably down your face as you hugged yourself, in an attempt to soothe yourself. “Get out… please,” you managed through the chokes of your tears, wanting to be alone.

Days began to blur, and for weeks you stayed inside that house only leaving to attend your husband’s funeral. Charlotte held you the entire time, and you cried into her chest like you were a child being consoled by their mom.

Months later (sad ending)

The house phone echoed throughout your house. It was Charlotte, your closest friend, who every day tried calling you to check on you. But you’d long lost the energy to get up, let alone eat much. Your head was laid down on the kitchen table, tears streaking your week-old makeup you didn't bother washing off. Dishes piled up behind you and plates of meals. The ones Charlotte made for you were scattered across the kitchen. Some were eaten; others were plainly picked at.

The phone rang three more times before it finally stopped. You stood up and began walking to your room, fiddling with your own fingers. For a moment you stopped right by the phone and contemplated picking it up. Things could get better if you called back; your gut said they would. But your heart disagreed. Better was over. Better was for people who had something to look forward to. Better was when Pauly would hold you close while he slept or how he’d coax you with movies and dinner at your favorite restaurant as an apology for missing a date due to work.

You walked passed the phone and into your bedroom opening Pauly’s closet. Looking around for that hidden shoebox. It was strange to you how a man who was so used to handling guns and dealing with them was so strict about you touching them.

You’d ask him to teach you to shoot, and he’d say the same thing every time. “Over my dead body!” Pauly would scoff, snatching back the family heirloom you’d casually held in your hands, shaking it like some Christmas present. His grandfather, who fought in WW1, took a gun he used back. It should’ve been in a museum teaching the generation about the sacrifices people made. But here it was in a men's shoebox, perfectly clean and loaded.

“S4W 45 ACP” is what the notecard inside of the box read. You dragged your finger over the letters engraved over the grip, “J + A” and “P + (__)” underneath, representing Pauly and you. Tears rolled down your face for the final time. You pressed the muzzle to the side of your head and pressed the trigger. Your body slumped to the ground with a thud.

A neighbor reported the sound of a gunshot, and it wasn't long before police came to your house and discovered your body. That very same day Leroy spent hours comforting Charlotte over the news of your death.

Months later (happy ending version)

Its been a couple of months since Pauly first passed. You aere doing better you still had your moemnts where it all hit you at once. But ypu had Charlotte and you knew she was a shlulder you could lean on

You sat on the bench Charlotte’s arm around you as you two sat outside talking about past memories involving Pauly. Charlotte talked about how big of a crush he had on you. And did everything to win you over.

Leroy closed the trunk of your car walking on over with a smile. “Alright thats the last of it.” He dusted his hands off “You do realize you only have two pairs of feet right? You don’t need all those heels” Leroy chuckled. Charlotte stood up, ready to defend you, but you did before she could. “I’ll have you know all of those heels cost a fortune. I could be a millionaire if i sold them” you smirk. Leroy scoffed and looked back at your car “me and charlotte think u should sell half of it and get a better car.” Charlotte snapped her head, looking at Leroy, trying to make it seem like she disagreed. “Well…!” Yeah, she found it weird. Especially since there were nicer cars out there, but she knew that this car was your type, so she kept her mouth shut. “You’ve always been unique, and that car is unique.” She tried so hard to keep a straight face.

“How about we focus on saying goodbye to our friend instead of talking about her car?” Charlotte clasped her hands together, holding back a laugh. As Charlotte and Leroy walked to their car, they talked about how they would miss you. “Thank you two for everything. Seriously, I don’t know what I’d be doing if you guys weren’t always willing to help me.” You smiled, pulling them in for one final hug. Charlotte and Leroy waved you off.

Collie Parker

Collie is the type of guy to tell you not to do anything for his birthday and mean it. He doesn't see the point in being celebrated for continuously being alive. He feels like he’s accomplished a lot more than that, but whatever. He has no issue with a birthday party but would be satisfied with you giving him a kiss and telling him happy birthday.

But frankly that wasn't enough, not for you. Collie was your boyfriend, and to only just give him a kiss and say happy birthday felt lazy and unappreciative. So for the past few weeks you've been planning Comlie a birthday party. You've met his friends before and had their numbers, so you created a secret group chat. Everybody was down and agreed to pitch in. You took over most control; you knew the theme, what flavor cake to get, and what decorations. You tasked his friends with bringing a dish to the party. And if they couldn’t bring that, then you told them to bring a party-sized snack.

You thought the hardest part on your end would be getting everything to look right, but it was actually finding a nice cake. You thought about going to your local store and just picking up a cake there. They had every flavor to imagine, but those cakes were just okay… and you wanted something extraordinary. So you found a baker and reached out to the one whose pictures looked the best and asked them to quote you.

“A hundred and fifty…?” You stammered, trying to hold back your raising voice as you looked down at the menu the baker handed you. God damn… those twenty-dollar cakes from ALDI’s sound delicious now. “It’s because everything’s—” you held out your hand, stopping the worker from talking any further. Yeah everything is made from scratch whoopty doo. These bakers better be out in the back churning butter and chasing cows for milk. Did these workers think you were a sucker or something…?

Well, you are… for your boyfriend at least. If it’ll make him smile, you’ll do it. You paid that price of 150 dollars with a frown on your face. The cake would be ready on the morning of Collie’s birthday, like you asked. With the rest of the time you had, you focused on solidifying the rest of the plans you had. You had to order a bunch of decorations and hide them throughout the house in places Collie wouldn’t look, which wasn’t that hard on your end. Collie didn’t think you’d be doing anything for him.

On the day of Collie’s birthday

When Collie got up to go make himself breakfast, he was surprised to find you in the kitchen cooking breakfast for him while you brewed coffee. “Hey,” you smiled, leaning into the kiss Collie gave you. “I told you not to do anything.” It was hard to hold back his smile. Collie sat down and ate sith you repeatedly talking ahout how you ddint hahe to do this but how he was grateful that you did.

“Well, in my defense, I think just saying happy birthday to you isn’t enough.” You shrugged, taking a sip of your drink as you watched Collie happily scarf down the food you prepared. “Hey, slow down,” pointed to the pancake shaped like the letter C. “I tried spelling your full name, but I ran out of batter and only got to the letter L.” You only managed to spell out "Coll," but it was the thought that counted.

“Now I know for your birthday I’ll have to step it up and do something better.” Collie chuckled and finished the rest of his food, putting his plate into the sink before getting ready to leave. You saw him off to work and as soon as you left went to work yourself.

You came back from work earlier than usual so you could begin to set everything up. Thankfully a friend of Collie’s came over, and the two of you began to set up all the decorations. And as time passed, more and more friends appeared, each of them bringing a dish just like you asked. With all the food, presents, and decorations ready, this place was starting to look like a real party. But it was missing the cake—the cake that should've been ready by now.

You excused yourself and told the guests you’d go get the cake and to do whatever else they had to do. It's been a while, and Collie should be home soon.

You drove to the bakery and picked up the cake. It was a lot bigger than you thought it would be. The baker lifted the top of the box off, revealing the beautifully decorated cake. Maybe it was worth 150 dollars, but you weren't willing to admit it, not in front of the works. d. They might let that compliment get to their head and triple their prices by the next time you come back. If you decided that anyways.

You loaded the cake into your car and tried to put the seatbelt in the cake, hoping that would stop the cake from moving around so much. Just as you pulled out from the parking lot, Collie was calling you. He was talking about how his boss gave him half the day off and how he was almost on his way home. That was great for Collie but not for you. You’d only just pulled out of the baker’s parking spot and were still half an hour away. As you got on the expressway, you were horrified to see all the traffic. You tried to be smart by taking a shortcut, and unfortunately, a lot of other people decided to do the same thing that way. It was usually traffic-free so why was it so packed today?

Ten minutes had passed, and your car had barely moved. The sound of the constant honking from cars was starting to drive you insane. If people weren’t honking, they were yelling at other drivers who had the nerve to somehow still try and cut in front of people: “Oh my god…” you dragged your hand down your face trying to tell yourself that you’d make it back.

Twenty minutes had gone by, and you were starting to lose major hope. Collie was probably pulling up in the driveway now, and here you were in traffic, still waiting for a miracle to happen.

By then all the messages from Collie’s friends started rushing in, and you had to frantically apologize, telling them you were stuck in traffic. As you sent them your location, Olson made a comment about some sort of standoff happening not too far off from where you were from, which is what caused some of the lanes/roads to be shut down. “Ah, great…” you mumbled and texted them that they could start the party without you. It hurt to realize that you missed Collie’s reaction to the party and what he thought about it.

Art thought about sending pictures but was advised not to so you wouldn't feel more left out.

By the time you got home, the party was long over, and Collie’s friends had left. You walked inside, kicking off your shoes and tossing the keys on the table. You placed the cake down in the middle announcing that you were home. Collie was on the couch watching a movie when he got up to greet you. “I’m sorry I missed your party…” you slouched, resting your head on his shoulder, feeling like the world’s worst boyfriend. You knew it wasn't your fault you missed it, but you still felt like an ass.

“Hey, no, it’s alright.” Collie gave you a hug, his eyes drifting to the box. When you tell him you haven’t been sleeping well, he goes, “same.” He offers you melatonin and tells you to take however much you can handle.

Unfortunately for him, melatonin doesn't work on him and just gives him weird dreams.

For the next few days the two of you bond over figuring out how to fall asleep.

The two of you try loads of different remedies, each leading to failure. While in bed you were ranting about how much time was wasted while you rested your head on his chest when you dozed asleep.

Ray himself managed to fall asleep, but it wasn't of as nice quality as yours. The next morning he’s complaining about back pain while you go on and on about how good you slept.

Peter McVries

Peter has had hard times falling asleep. Don't let the movies fool you; sleeping outside in a field isn't comfortable, especially when it's cold out.

Luckily when he finally got his own place, he started sleeping like a baby. It’s hard to understand that you’re having a hard time sleeping.

You can sleep everywhere but the bed, and for a while you tried sleeping on the couch, but even that led you to back pain.

“Are you tense or something?” Pete asks while rubbing your shoulders; he’s been trying everything and isn’t sure what could be causing this. His bed is insanely comfortable (to him.)

Two weeks later you’re lying in bed while Pete holds you. He was already asleep, and you decided to close your eyes, and you actually managed to fall asleep.

While having lunch, Peter reveals that he’s noticed you always clutching your back when you get out of bed and decided to buy a new mattress.

Turns out the one Peter had was way too hard on your back, so he went and bought one. It cost a pretty penny, but Peter didn't mind. He likes this mattress more than his old one.

Hank Olson

This guy sleeps any and everywhere. Floor, couch, chair—he could fall asleep lying against the wall if he gets comfortable enough. So when you share your trouble sleeping and ask him for help, Olson agrees to help you.

He pulls out a book from his shelf and sits down with you. “Oh, this is ridiculous…” you grumble, picking it up. Why does Olson have a book for every problem and solution? But Olson swears up and down it works. That’s why he’s able to fall asleep so fast.

You reluctantly agree to do it, and that night Olson has you laid down, sheets and blanket freshly washed and changed. You’d just gotten out of the shower and put on your most comfortable pajamas. None of those steps were necessary, yet Olson claimed it would “enhance the effect.”

Olson stands up and clears his throat, reading out loud each step, correcting your mistakes along the way. When he got halfway through, he noticed your breathing began to slow down. Your body relaxed, and you finally believed in Olson.

“See, I told you,” he whispered, quietly laughing as you scowled at him.

After Olson listed off the last step, he looked up from his book to see that you'd fallen asleep.

He slipped into bed, wrapping his arms around you and planting a kiss on your cheek, mumbling about how he told you.

Art Baker

Mentioning you have a problem around Art automatically means he’ll try and find a solution for you.

He tries teas and even gives you a couple of books. All of which don't interest you, but that was the point!

Art always fell asleep in science class, and he was hoping it’d have the same effect on you.

You tried it out, and it actually worked. For a little bit you’d start yawning and eventually fall asleep, but you’d wake up two hours later.

Art noticed how you’d take three naps a day and told you to stop. He figured if you were completely exhausted by night, you’d instantly fall asleep.

You pushed yourself that entire day to stay awake, and by the time you laid down in bed, you were knocked out.

Richard Harkness

“Tell me about it,” Harkness sighed while he lifelessly drank his coffee.

Great the two of you were both consatntly tired and somehow too awake to fall asleep. It was like when you closed your eyes, you had a million thoughts keeping you up at night.

Neither of you could figure out the problem; nothing dramatic has happened to either of you.

Work was surprisingly unstressed; the two of you had good diets, worked out alright, and weren't up late at night.

It wasn't till Harkness noticed how different the coffee was than usual. You’d put all the instant coffee in an old Folgers container and when you went shopping, bought the cheapest.

Well, this cheapest one also happened to be the strongest. Too strong! The company had gone bankrupt a month ago and sold a box of their instant coffee for only a buck. You think you got a deal, buying plenty and putting it in the container.

That's what's been keeping the two of you up, and as soon as Harkness threw it away, you both got a good night's rest.

Billy Stebbins

When you voice having trouble sleeping, Billy tells you to start joining him for his night jogs. He used to do them frequently when he had similar problems, but once he started working out consistently, the problems went away.

So you do a couple of hours before bed, and you and him go on a night jog together. Billy slowed down his usual pace so you could keep up with him and wouldn't let you slow down to catch your breath much.

Once you reached true exhaustion, that's when you would both head home.

You’re on the floor trying to catch your breath while you take off your shoes, which seemed impossible at that moment. You honestly thought of sleeping in your running shoes until Stebbins pulled them off for you.

The both of you took a shower, and by the time you hit those cold sheets, you were out like a light.

Stebbins' way was so straightforward and simple that two of you agreed to start jogging regularly.

Gary Barkovitch

Barkovitch found it cute at first. You'd wake up not wanting to get out of bed or for him to get out either.

But the cuteness factor was lost when he noticed that you’d become snappier when you didn’t have your full eight. He realized he actually had to help or at least attempt to help.

Despite what you think, Barkovitch sleeps fine. He doesn't need a full eight hours; anything above five for him is fine.

Barkovitch has never been one for huge adjustments to his behavior or habits when it comes to his problems and is always looking for a shortcut. And he figures the best and easiest way to get you to fall asleep is melatonin.

You sit on a counter watching as Barkovitch pours melatonin into a pot, all from different brands. Prices range from cheap to expensive. You’re going to sleep alright, maybe even forever.

You watch as he pours the mixture into gummy bear molds to try and make them more appealing to you.

“Are you serious…” You try not to gag just imagining what the taste will be like. Barkovitch snickers and points the silicone spatula towards your face. “Lick it.” He playfully flinches as you raise your fist to punch his shoulder.

Once the gummies cooled, Barkovitch watched as you took one and put it in your mouth. You complained of the taste but managed to swallow it, unsure if you should chew it or treat it like a pill.

You woke up the next day with Barkovitch telling you slept like Snow White.

Collie Parker

Collie and you were like day and night with your bed preferences. Collie preferred a more firm mattress, while you needed it to be softer, or else it would hurt your back.

He liked to have layers upon layers of blankets on him, or else he’d get cold, while you could only handle one blanket.

And lastly, he liked the heat to run 24/7. Look you get it its january but its not that cold. This wasn't Antarctica, for crying out loud.

So when you confronted Collie about it you were hoping this wouldnt turn into an argument. You’ve brought it up before, and it honestly annoyed you that he hasn’t gotten the hint to bring the heat down.

Just before you could bring up your problems yourself, Collie brought it up first.

“Oh, the landlord spoke to me yesterday before you got home. He says the heater is broken; that's why it's so hot. And it’ll be fixed by today.” Collie took the last bite of toast and got up, ready to leave for work.

"I ordered you a fan a month ago, and it should be coming today." An hour after Collie left, the mailman handed you a package, which you excitedly opened up.

Stebbins has known you were the one for a long time. It's rare for him to fall to have a crush on anybody, let alone fall deeply in love with them. He’s always been focused on himself in life with very few things occupying his mind. So when he met you, he’d assume you were nothing special and that he could just ignore you and focus on his own goals. But he couldn't; there was something about you. You never had to force yourself to be the loudest or most energetic person in the room to be noticed. People wanted to get to know you with no effort on your end, and Stebbins was the same way.

Getting to know all of you—not just how you presented yourself to new people but the true you—was the greatest thing ever to him. Stebbins never realized just how interesting getting to know people could be.

So when the time came, Stebbins knew he had to pop the question. He started saving up more than usual. He’s always been good with money ever since he was a kid.

His mom noticed his change in attitude and told her to tell him. She was relieved to hear that it was JUST a proposal. Though she didn’t show it, she was proud of Stebbins. She’s only met you a couple of times and didn’t pay you much more than a glance, but she trusted you.

She led Stebbins to her room and pulled out the stack of cash she’d been holding onto.

She's been saving money for Stebbins ever since she found out she was pregnant with him. She told him to spend half of it on a ring and the other half trying to find a place to live. “Since no woman wants to live with a man that lives with their ”mom”—her exact words.

Stebbins spent a long time trying to find the perfect ring for you. He checked out all the rings from this cutie, and it wasn't until he visited the next city that he found the perfect ring.

The Proposal

When Stebbins proposed to you, it was nothing short of romantic and perfect. He proposed to you during spring; the weather was nice, and he made an excuse to take you out. He took you to an up-class oceanfront restaurant. While looking down at the menu, you kept asking if it was really okay to order, which he assured you it was. The last thing he was worried about was you spending all his money.

As you looked down at the menu, zoned in on what to get, you didn't notice Stebbins getting on his knees. As you looked up, you clasped your hands to your face in surprise. “Will you…” Stebbins barely got the word out before you interrupted him with a kiss. Repeatedly saying yes each time you pulled away.

Other guests in the restaurant clapped, giving you congrats and cheers. And as Stebbins went to go pay, the waitress informed him the bill had been paid by another guest as a congrats.

The money he didn’t spend on dinner was used on you, taking you out for dessert and getting a hotel that night.

Gary Barkovitch

Barkovitch has had people come and go out of his life. With nobody truly sticking around and giving him a second chance. Most people knew him as a weirdo, somebody you should stay away from. So when you met him, he treated you like he would anybody else. He expected you to hate him and honestly looked forward to it a little bit. Being hated gave him somebody to talk to… or at least at.

But you were different; you gave him a chance, and it wasn't long before the two of you became friends. Barkovitch was a cool guy to hang out with if you gave him the chance. Whenever the two of you had free time, he’d take you to the abandoned sides of the city. He took your hand and took you to one of the hills where greenery and flowers grew freely with no disturbance. The two of you were lying on your sides as you both talked. Barkovitch talked to you without the fear of you hating him. You truly understood him, and that was the only thing he’s ever wanted.

Your relationship with him continued to blossom. It wasn't long before Barkovitch asked you out, and the two of you became official.

When Barkovitch first met your parents, he was extremely nervous. He got his hair trimmed, keeping a decent length of it but not long enough to where your parents might think he was some hippie. He wore his best clothes and even got his shoes shined. He put his best foot forward and was exstatic when you told him that they approved of you.

The Proposal

Barkovitch was convinced if anything went wrong during the proposal, you’d say no. He became the biggest perfectionist leading up to it. He tried hiring other people, but he got so anxious watching them arrange the decorations that he sent them home with their pay and did it himself. He rearranged everything about twelve times before he finally settled on permanent positions.

Barkovitch had wanted to propose to you in a restaurant, but the idea of other people looking at him and the potential of you saying no shook him to his core. If he’s going to be rejected, he wants it to happen in an empty field.

Barkovitch idly waited for you to arrive. There was really nothing to do, so he sat down on a rock near the lake nearby and began skipping rocks.

Earlier this month he let your parents know he wanted to propose to you. They gave Barkovitch their blessing with the deal they got to know how and when he was proposing.

Just as Barkovitch was about to skip another rock, he heard your voice calling out to him from a distance. He dropped all the pebbles onto the ground and wiped off whatever dust he had on his hands onto his pants. (Classy…)

He found you and led you to the spot he cleared out. A bouquet of your favorite flowers was laid on the ground near the blanket. In the middle lay a spread of your favorite foods and dessert, cooked by Barkovitch. When you question where he learned how to cook so well, he admits that all the “overtime” he had was being used as a cover to secretly go to his cooking classes.

“How did you even find out about this spot?” You laid back on the grass, turning your head to look at Barkovitch. He shrugged his shoulders; a spot like this wasn't special to him. The outdoors was practically his second home. He knew all of the “good” spots where the grass was green and nobody was around. Quiet enough to hear your own thoughts.

Barkovitch just shrugged his shoulders, looking at you and brushing a strand of hair out of your face. “Eh, if you walk around long enough, you’ll find places like this quietly. This used to have a lot more animals over here, but they moved or something.” He sat up, slipping his hand into his left pocket, fumbling around with the box.

This was it, and he couldn't mess this up. “Hey, uh, can I ask you something serious…?” Barkovitch's sudden change in tone made you straighten up. Barkovitch pulls out the box from his pocket, pulling it open and revealing the ring inside. “Will you marry me?”

You were so in shock for those first few moments you couldn't do anything but just stare. And with each second you remained silent, Barkovitch became frantic.

“Of course, yes!” You pulled him in for a kiss, washing away all his fears in an instant. As you pulled away, a smile etched on his face, and he grabbed the ring, slipping it on your finger. “I thought you were going to say no,” he chuckled, watching as you inspected it.

The day ended with Barkovitch and you taking photos with the camera he brought.

But it's true! He doesn't mean it in a gaining-more-muscle way; he's just been a lot busier than usual and hasn't been able to go consistently.

He wants to look for a better job; he hates the one he has right now.

See his family more for sure. Try different things. Maybe travel with you if he’s lucky.

During the rest of the party, he hangs out with you, making sure you're close by so you can be his New Year's kiss.

If he even hears a whisper that telling people your New Year's resolution is bad luck, he won't tell you (he will).

He has wishes he wants granted, so during the New Year's you'll find him underneath a table eating grapes. If you wish for the same thing over and over again, it's sure to come true.

Loves partying with his friends every once in a while, but once that clock hits midnight, he’s ready to leave.

Keeping a gratitude journal for sure. Reminding himself that he has a lot he should be grateful for even when he can't see it

He tries not to think about the negative stuff, but it gets to him like any other person, and he thinks journaling it would help him.

He wants to put himself more out there, and you argue that he does. Harkness isn't afraid to talk to new people, and it's a trait you admire.

One-on-one he’s not, but it’s large crowds that get him nervous.

Networking is a big thing when it comes to becoming an author, so he’s decided to take public speaking classes next semester along with volunteering to read to parents and their kids.

Harkness secretly wallows in all the praise he receives for talking about volunteering.

Billy Stebbins

Improve his communication skills.

He knows if he wants to make his relationship with you last, he has to communicate.

Stebbins can listen and listen well, but when it comes to talking and opening up, he struggles with it. He doesn't want to come across as some critique or an ungrateful guy, which is why he holds it in.

His second one is breaking out of his shell; he only chats to you and Ray occasionally, so he breaks the ice by talking to Art.

Didn’t expect he’d get along with Art, but everybody gets along well with Art, so what’s that really saying?

Barkovitch really doesn't have anything; he's changed a lot for the better in college and hopes to continue doing so.

He even broke the tension between Peter and him, and now they’re friends. Peter says next time he goes out fishing, he’ll take Barkovitch with him. (Does anybody remember when I headcannoned Peter liking to fish back during the relationship headcannon series 🤔?)

Has the most energy out of everybody there

If he thinks anybody is starting to get sleepy, he’ll go and talk to them, trying to wake them up.

He’s talked to Olson three times, and each time after he leaves, Olson is sitting on the couch dozing off.

By the time he leaves, he debates going over to another friend's party to go hang out with them.

Collie Parker

He’ll get embarrassed if you ask, but Collie finally decides to be an adult and learn how to cook.

Before the party he was looking up other New Year's resolutions just in case he wanted to switch his.

But ultimately he went with cooking; he got so motivated that he threw out his microwave, declaring he’d only work with his stove.

You give him the craziest look hearing that, and he knows after this party he’ll either have to fish out his microwave or buy a new one.

For the rest of the party, the back of his mind is filled with thoughts about his microwave.

Surprisingly, he’s up early before everybody.

As he gets older, Ray becomes less and less likely to wake up early.

He knows how that can be annoying, especially since it's not just him and his family anymore. There's you in the picture.

Which is why he makes an effort and sets himself an alarm.

He wishes he didn't, though, because you slept for several more hours, and he had to debate between waking you up and letting you have your beauty rest.

Ray takes himself back to bed to get some more hours, and when he wakes up, he’s in a good mood.

Christmas is wonderful, and when you pull out the infamous candle, it makes you laugh.

For his gift you got him a rare baseball card. You never realized just how expensive a card could be till you started doing your research. (Idk, I assume Ray’s a baseball person since he has one on a walk, and the shirt he wears is called a baseball shirt.)

Ray pulls you into a warm hug, repeatedly thanking you. He was trying to bid on the same card and didn't realize it was you who won the bid.

The rest of the day is spent traveling from other people's houses and spending time with loved ones.

Peter McVries

Unlike Ray, Peter wakes you up.

When you wake up, Peter brings you breakfast in bed. The pancakes are decorated to look like Santa hats and deer antlers.

You weren't expecting it to be as good as it was. Pancakes are just pancakes, but somehow Peter made these pancakes delicious.

It's always a pleasant surprise when Peter reminds you just how well he can cook.

You have loads of gifts. Each better than the gift before.

That outfit you’ve been eyeing was wrapped under the tree, and when you opened it, you tightly embraced Peter.

For his gift you pulled out tickets to go out of the country and to a place he’s always wanted to visit!

Hank Olson

He’s not a morning person, and holidays won’t change that.

You have to wake him up, and when you do, he still acts like he hasn't gotten enough sleep.

But whatever, Olson still gets up and does his morning routine.

Any gifts he said he would never buy (because of the price) magically appeared underneath the tree.

He’s all bark and no bite.

Sits back, arms crossed, with a mischievous grin on his face as he says, “Oh wow… I wonder who got you that.”

You thank him dearly, and he shrugs like it was no problem.

When you present his gift to him, he blushes and accepts it like it means nothing when it means everything to him.

He said he didn't want anything but is grateful you got him something.

Art Baker

Christmas is his favorite holiday, so why would he not go all out? He warns you days before to be ready, and you are.

Instead of celebrating at home, he insists you guys go to his family’s house first, and you agree.

When arriving, everybody is already there.

His parents hired catering, and all the food on the table looks delicious. You couldn't even focus on the presents with the smell of bacon in the air.

During the gift opening, all of his little cousins go first. When it gets to you, Art presents his gifts, and they're everything you wanted.

While you’re opening the last one, Art’s grandma slips him a box, and he opens it up.

It's that ring again… He smiles but awkwardly places it in his back pocket.

When driving back home, Art hands you the box, telling you about how his grandma is pushing him to propose to you.

You two laugh about it, and you agree to act like you accepted the gift.

Richard Harkness

Harkness tries to keep quiet to let you sleep, but all the noise he’s making in the kitchen wakes you up.

Profusely apologizes to you for waking you up and asks if you want to go to bed, but you're already up, so there's no point.

When sitting down to open your gifts, his eyes constantly dart back from your gift to your face to see your reaction.

And each time you smile, it makes his heart flutter.

A lot of his gifts are very sentimental and represent his love and journey with you through the whole relationship.

He gets you a necklace with your initials engraved on the back, and you love it.

He helps you put it on.

When you give him his own gift, his mouth drops in shock and his eyes go wide.

You managed to get him his favorite author’s newest book with their own signature!

You end up driving to his parents' house while he reads his new book. Safe to say this year was very successful.

You wake up in the middle of the night to find Stebbins awake; he couldn’t sleep. The truth is it’s because he’s too excited for Christmas.

When you woke up in the morning, Stebbins had just gotten out of the shower and was putting on his clothes.

While on the couch, he pulls you close to him so he can see every little expression you make.

He talks a lot more than usual, telling you about how it was hard to find the gifts and that he almost debated paying double the price just to get all your gifts delivered.

When it’s his turn for a gift, he’s surprised he gets more than one.

You buy him a navy blue Ralph Lauren sweater, and you can't help but marvel at how good it looks on him.

You also got him a watch, which he says he’ll wear every day.

When you send him to visit his mother, she actually has gifts and made an effort to cook for once! She even compliments Stebbin’s new sweater.

Gary Barkovitch

He wakes up before you and tries to entertain himself. He turned on the TV and got bored, started watching videos and got bored; he even tried falling back asleep, but that didn't work.

Every couple of minutes he’d look over to you and give you a gentle nudge to try and wake you up.

You do, and when you wake up, you find Barkovitch awake with his head on your chest.

Barkovitch and you have a quick breakfast before opening up each other’s gifts.

One thing you admire about Barkovitch’s gift shopping skills is that he doesn’t automatically go for the most expensive thing.

He always says the best things can be found at thrift stores, and he wasn't lying.

He found an old vintage leather jacket you loved that had embroidered patches near the breast pocket.

Barkovitch swears years are added to his lifespan each time he hears how much you love every gift.

Collie Parker

You’re awakened by the smell of meat. Fearing it would become burnt, you hurry out of bed to control whatever Collie burnt this time.

You’re met with Collie, his hair pulled back into a ponytail, as he makes you breakfast.

He was hoping you’d stay asleep longer, but breakfast is ready now.

When you sit down and eat, you double-check to make sure nothing is burnt, and to your surprise, everything is fine.

You give your praises to Collie, which he gladly accepts.

When you begin opening gifts, Collie pulls out his camera, recording you so he can come back and watch it later.

There's not a single gift that doesn't make you scream "What!" in total surprise.

Collie makes tallies each time you say, “How did you find this?” And you’ve said it five times.

The rest of the day is spent with his family.

If he’s with family, he won’t invite you over if he thinks you have plans. There’s no way you’re not spending time with your family.

If you’re not invited, Ray’s mom will always bring you up, wondering why you didn’t come.

Ray will tell her you couldn’t make it. She’s a little disappointed but tells Ray to bring you leftover dessert.

If you have time to come over, Ray’s happy. His parents love you, and he loves seeing how well you get along with them.

He’s never been with anybody who could handle his dad and his peculiar topics.

Peter McVries

Holidays and breaks are really the only time his family gets together. His siblings all live in different states, so everybody has to fly back in to see each other.

Peter was homesick; he’s very family-oriented, and it kills him being so far away from them.

His family has already met you during Thanksgiving, and if you have time, you’re free to come over!

Peter got caught up talking to his family, and you’re left with his mom. He loves you dearly but wants alone time with his family right now.

His mom talks to you about anything and everything. You’ve only met her twice, yet every conversation flows like you’ve known her your whole life.

During the yearly family holiday photo, you are pulled in by Peter and his mom.

Hank Olson

It's over finally; it's over. For at least winter break, that is.

Olson feels like he’s on top of the world. He already relaxed at Peter’s party and is ready to see his family. It's been a while.

He comes over to his family’s house, bringing snacks. His nieces run to him as soon as he steps into the door.

Olson’s so full of life his older brother jokingly asks him if he’s on that stuff.

Though he doesn’t go as hard as he did during Peter’s party, he still has a great time.

His family is obsessed with board games and has an ongoing board tallying everybody’s wins. Olson is in third place, while his oldest brother is in last.

There's no physical prize, but being able to brag about your skills is the best type of award for the Olson family.

When he FaceTimes you, he points the camera at the board while drawing another white tally by his name.

If you tease him for being arrogant, he just smirks and nods his head.

Art Baker

If you don’t hear from Art Baker on Christmas Eve, you’ll surely be updated about what’s going on through his social media.

Everybody in his family is wearing matching sweaters. Even the dog has one on.

From his stories, his family seems to be the life of the party.

Board games, card games, dancing, and karaoke—his family knows how to have a good time.

Art Baker is energetic, but when it comes to his family, he’s the first to tap out. He goes to lie down halfway through.

If you’re there, you and him get worn out around the same time and go someplace quiet where you guys can talk.

Richard Harkness

His family is very excited to have you over. Yes, they’ve had you over briefly for Halloween and Thanksgiving, but Christmas (Eve) is special!

When you come over, there's a feast of food to be expected. Not as much compared to Thanksgiving, but enough so that you’ll have plenty of leftovers.

Harkness and you sat on the couch talking while a Christmas movie played in the background. The both of you chatting about the gifts you bought for others.

Every once in a while Harkness’ younger siblings will come over and talk to you. His youngest brother keeps showing off his hot wheels collection of cars. And you have to say “oh wowww” with wide eyes and a smile.

Billy Stebbins

You want to come over? Seriously?

That's a surprise to him. It's not like his house is a mess or anything; believe him when he says his mom would beat him if he made her house look a mess.

When you come over, it's beautifully decorated; the tree is dressed to the nines. The house looks like something straight out of a Hallmark movie.

The tree has so many presents, and when you point it out to Stebbins, he bursts your bubble by telling you it's decoration.

Stebbins's mom greets you and tells you to make yourself at home.

You and Stebbins hang out as you normally would but with hot cocoa and Santa hats.

The night is nice; it's quiet but it's cozy, and you fall asleep in Stebbins's arms.

Gary Barkovitch

Do you want to come over? Sure! He wishes you would have let him know in advance, though.

The house is clean. It’s just Barkovitch’s room that’s the issue. He knew there were other guests coming over, but he usually closes his bedroom door and doesn't let anybody go in.

Now he’s over here trying to get as much doom as possible. Even the cat senses Barkovitch’s panicked energy and begins to groom itself.

When you come over, you hand everybody their gifts and tell them to wait on Christmas.

The Christmas Eve party is nice. Not many people are invited over, so the house isn't stuffed to the brim with people.

You and Barkovitch go up to his room to talk. When you praise how clean his room looks, Barkovitch smiles and acts like it's constantly this clean.

Collie Parker

Collie decided to host Christmas Eve for a change.

His family and you get there at the same time and are surprised by how nicely decorated the whole thing is.

Collie's been planning this party for weeks now. He wanted to do everything himself with no help just to prove to himself that he could.His younger sister immediately goes to the

Christmas tree and is pleasantly surprised to find a box labeled with her name.

Collie embodies the role of being the host. He served everybody food, dessert, and when thats all done suggests they all play games.

He checks out every store hoping to find something you like.

He starts asking himself if his friends would really care if they got a gift for Christmas.

Do guys really get other guys gifts?

He says he won't go over his budget, but every year he breaks that promise. He gets his friends something he knows they'd like and actually use.

Ray will always buy you a candle.It doesn't matter if you use them or not.He's going to pick out the perfect scent that fits you.

And you'll love it.

He's nose-blind after walking out of the candle store. The smell of vanilla and hot cocoa haunts his nose for days.

He’s thorough he knows what you like. He knows you hetter than you do.

You don’t need to suggest any ideas to him every year Peter pleasantly surprises you.

Okay thats half true. Yes Peter knows what you like but he also knows you can change your opinions. Which is why he snoops through your phone

He’ll check through your search histroy and he’ll also look through the ads that are reccomended to you.

He’s not the host, but he does come over early to help with decorations. He’ll set tables and help out with decorations, and he did bring food, but not all of it.

When you arrive at the party, you two go your separate ways, each of you having your own friend groups and people you want to talk to.

Finding Ray is easy; he’s usually outside with his other friends around a bonfire.

If there are any Christmas-themed games, he will be participating in them.

He wore a reindeer headband; he had a red nose, but it fell off minutes ago, and he can't find it.

After drinking a little too much and becoming tipsy, he goes out and finds you.

As soon as you mention offering to take him home, that sobers him up, and he firmly refuses. Ray is having too much fun to leave.

After an hour you do find him dozed off on a couch, and that's when you take him home.

Peter McVries

Peter is the host, but are any of us shocked by that? No. Peter knows a lot of people. And he already has a good rep for being a good host. He doesn’t just invite anybody; if he thinks you’ll cause trouble, you’ll never hear about him inviting you ever.

For half of the party, he’s checking up on other people to see if they need anything. He makes sure he talks up to catch up with everybody.

After that is when he’ll start to have fun. He’ll keep you by his side while he talks to everybody. He’ll introduce you, and if you’re shy, he’ll crack a joke about it.

When you’re making yourself drink, Peter will come up to you and kiss you, asking if you’re having fun. It’s the only alone time you’ll get for the next few hours.

You’re never bored or all alone, as you can strike up a conversation with anybody here; especially once they realize you’re Peter’s ___, they warm right up to you.

When the party's over, you stay up late to help Peter clean up. He’ll tell you to go to bed, but you’re really insistent on helping, and that warms his heart.

If neither of you are tired, you guys will watch a Christmas movie together before bed.

Hank Olson

He’s just a guest, but he doesn’t mind helping out if you ask. He’ll bring over the red cups and help set the stuff up.

As soon as the party starts, you won't see Olson in one place for long. Whenever you ask around, every person has a different answer. First he was in the living room, then the kitchen, then the balcony, and lastly outside lying in the snow.

When you went outside, you did find Olson; he was face down in the snow, his cheeks flushed from everything he’s had.

When he’s brought back inside, he settles down and decides to stick to one spot.

Art Baker

If you need something, call him; otherwise, he’ll just show up as is. He comes thirty minutes after it starts. He doesn't want to get there before the fun starts.

Like Olson, he really tries to make the best out of it. He knows a couple of people here besides his typical friend group and will use this as the opportunity to go chat with them.

If you try and stay by his side, he’s reluctant to do that. He knows you have friends of your own, and if you don't? Well, he’ll encourage you to make some.

He’s not drinking much, maybe one or two cups. He drove here by himself and doesn’t want you driving him back.

When he spots eggnog, he’s the first to get a cup. It's hard to resist.

Richard Harkness

He’s casually invited. Ray brought up the party around him, and Ray didn’t want to seem rude, so he invited him.

Peter didn’t know if parties were Harkness’ scene, and he never got around to asking, and as a result, he never asked Harkness if he’d like to go join.

Being invited second-hand to things doesn’t disappoint him though. He’s just as happy as anybody else.

Harkness isn’t shy; he can gather the courage to talk to new people, which is what he does. He wants to leave this party with at least one new friend.

He doesn’t expect you to be around him the whole time. He’ll be busy talking everybody’s heads off and wants you to have fun. Go take some shots, play ping pong, or chat with your buds; he doesn't care.

Billy Stebbins

Stebbins is not invited. He doesn’t seem like the type of guy to even go out like that.

If you were invited, then he became your plus one.

The others were surprised to see Stebbins there and even asked if you meant to bring him.

If Stebbins doesn’t find anybody to talk to, he’ll stand in a corner watching other people have fun. Or if you want, he’ll just follow you around.

He has maybe two drinks. He’s not a heavy drinker and believes there are better things to be done here.

When you go and find him, he's talking to a guy in a situation like him while playing darts. The board is shaped like Rudolph, and both men are trying to hit the red nose.

Gary Barkovitch

You’d think he wouldn’t be invited, like, at all, but somehow he’s there.

It takes some time to convince Peter to let Barkovitch come over. He still imagines Barkovitch as the… well, strange guy from when they were younger.

Barkovitch is being watched by Peter. Not intensely, but if Peter sees him walking by, his eyes will watch his every move for a minute or two.

Barkovitch has a fun time and talks to a lot of people. He makes an effort to show people that he’s changed since they last saw him.

Eventually, after talking to everybody, he goes and talks to Peter. He’s nervous, but he clears the tension between them, and Peter eventually comes around.

He’s very thankful that Ray took pity on him and invited him.

As he drives home with you, he won't stop talking about how happy he is.

Collie Parker

Before Ray gets there to help Peter with the decorating, Collie is already there.

Believe it or not, Collie’s been friends with Peter longer than Ray has. (Everybody grew up with each-other in this au but not everybody is friends i was trying to put their movie dynamics in the fic yk?)

He invites you as his plus one.

If you don’t know the guys, he goes around introducing you all to them.

If you know nobody, you can just stay by his side. He'll ask if you "really don't want to see your friends," which is a way of him asking if you're really sure you don't want to talk to anybody new.

He stays late, later than others. And after you’ve had a couple of drinks, you sit beside him on the couch, his jacket around you as you rest your head on his shoulder while he has his arm wrapped around your waist, holding you close.

He goes for the typical classic gingerbread man house; he’s not interested in Oreo, Hershey, or whatever mediocre house they push out on consumers every year—they all taste like cardboard anyways.

He takes it more seriously than he should. In his family picture book, Ray has photos from ages 7-20 of him with a gingerbread house, proudly holding it up with a smile.

This year he decides to let loose; this is a couples activity now, and he doesn't need to be a perfectionist.

But he can't help but cringe as he watches you sloppily pipe the frosting together, trying to hold it all together.

With all his years of experience, he knows there are only a couple of seconds to take a photo together with the gingerbread house before it starts falling apart.

If you offer him a bite, he’ll shake his head and say it’s all yours.

He pats your back, praising you for doing so well. Next time he wants to compete against you, and he jokingly tells you to start training.

Peter McVries

You want to build a gingerbread house with him? That's new to him; he always walks past those things without a second glance. He’s not really interested, but seeing your eagerness, he agrees. It's hard to say no to you.

When picking out a house, you go back and forth. Peter naturally wants to eat a house that looks like it’ll taste good to eat. Gingerbread houses are cookies and frosting, aren't you supposed to eat them after you're finished making them?

Eventually you two settle down on oreo.

Peter lets you do all the building. He’ll sit in a chair leaning back as he reads the instructions. If you ask him for help, he’ll sarcastically say, “I have to do everything around you,” and nudge you out of the way.

He’s not the best at making the house and gets annoyed that the frosting isn’t sticky enough to hold the house together.

He has an idea that more frosting = better stability and uses the whole pack trying to stick the walls together.

Peter gets all embarrassed and wants to throw it away, but you’re insistent on getting a photo. Later on you sent the photo to his family, who also joined in on playfully making fun of Peter for his bad house-making skills.

He tries to throw away the house, but you won't let him without taking a bite. You grab a piece of the gingerbread house and feed it to him. Peter grabs a paper towel as soon as you turn around, spitting out the mouthful of frosting he just bit into. He's unwilling to do this again next year.

Hank Olson

Thought you’d never ask. He’s the most excited out of everybody. If there's a way he can potentially impress you, he'll do it.

As you and he build the house together, he jokes about you two building your future home and planning out the landscape.

He focuses a lot on the roof decorating. He leaves you to make the windows and create the front yard.

When you look over, Olson is digging through the bag of Sour Patch Kids. He pulls out a pair of blue raspberries and sticks them down in front of the house as a representation of you both.

After finishing the gingerbread house, Olson has you hold the photo with a smile. He makes sure to text the others, taunting them and telling them to make something better.

Art Baker

He’s one step ahead of you; he already bought one and was watching a tutorial when you walked in on him in the kitchen making it.

When you come over to his place, you're surprised at how fully decorated it is. Art isn't subtle with his love for Christmas. His house is decorated to the nines. He even went and bought you a Christmas sweater so you'd be matching with him.

Every time he does something successfully, he looks at you and smiles, waiting for you to notice. He's a natural, isn't he? Don't look in the trashcan; it's filled with all his past attempts.

House looks so sweet Hansel and Gretal would walk right in it.

He doesn't even want to eat it once it's finished. He's looking up ways to see if there's a way to preserve it. He already got his photos with you and him holding the house together, but photos aren't enough. And when you're on the couch snuggling with him while a Christmas movie is playing in the back, he's still looking up ways to preserve a gingerbread house forever.

Richard Harkness

He was “subtly” dropping hints that he wanted to build a house with you. He sends videos, brings it up in conversations, and talks about how his parents did it together every year.

When you finally break the question, he acts all surprised, like he hasn’t been pestering you over it.

Like Olson Harkness tries impressing you with his skill. He'll talk about how he could build you a house like it was no issue. He will say anything to see you smile.

When you get close enough, Harkness puts frosting on the tip of your nose and takes a photo of you while you’re laughing.

You try putting some on his face, but he keeps leaning back, avoiding your touch.

Harkness takes a photo and sends it to his parents, who reply saying that they’ll hang this picture up on their wall.

As Harkness takes a bite out of the wall, he nods his head, trying to act like it's good. Gingerbread, gummies, and frosting don't taste good all together. You think they would, but it's just a sugary mess.

Billy Stebbins

Stebbins nods and mentally jots down that you want a gingerbread house.

The next day you come to a gingerbread house decoration. Instead of a real one. You roll your eyes, and Stebbins is genuinely confused; he thought you wanted this. In his defense, you didn't specify (you did), and it was up to him to interpret it in his own way.

He didn't grow up doing that sort of stuff. His mom had a distaste for anything that could make a mess in her house, and that sort of attitude rubbed off on Stebbins.

Stebbins agrees partly out of guilt for not paying attention to you earlier. When you notice him just hovering behind you instead of others, you give him a task. He’s tasked with sticking the walls together.

He struggles a lot with piping out the frosting. He gets the idea to try and put the frosting in the fridge so it molds together, and thankfully it works.

He grabs all the candy out of the cabinet to decorate the house. When you look over, you’re quite impressed; he’s actually a lot more into this than you thought he’d be.

The end result doesn’t come out as fabulous as Stebbins wanted, but he’s glad he did this with you and is excited to do it next year with you. Or tomorrow, which is really what he wants to do.

Gary Barkovitch

At first he tries to get out of building a house by buying a Lego set, which he happily builds. That's something that's guaranteed to look nice. Barkovitch is terrible at baking or decorating anything, seriously, he is.

Gingerbread houses are a pain, and he ends up more frustrated than happy with them. But whatever, it'll be his first time doing it with you, and he wants to give it a try.

Barkovitch and you both get your own houses so you can do your own thing. You take the more traditional route while Barkovitch does whatever the hell he wants.

Barkovitch is well aware his skills can only make ugly houses, which is why he tries of going the funny route. A lightbulb goes off in his head, and he smirks as he begins to work on his house.

When you look over, the shock on your face makes him laugh. “It’s a gingerbread trap house,” he brings it closer to you so that you can see every detail.

Yeah, duh, it was; you didn't need him telling you that for you to understand the joke. No wonder he kept smirking and snickering to himself.

Collie Parker

He’s really fixated on the idea of creating a smores house instead.

You try and hear out his idea, but it doesn't sound like it would work.

He brings it up so much that you tell him to get his own house so he can do his own thing.

Collie does just that and begins making his own house. He looks up at your house occasionally and offers to bake yours too.

You warn him not to bake it, saying it’ll cause a mess and make the house smell like burnt marshmallows and gingerbread.

Collie decides to listen to your warning, not wanting to deal with any weird smells.

His house comes out nice, and the two of you judge and rate each other's houses.
