August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.

I don't care what anyone says, I absolutely loved this movie.
A favorite from a few years ago. It always reminds me of home and that one summer before anyone moved away or broke up or stopped talking... everyone was there and it was beautiful.
"Not all the knives of the lamp-posts, Nor the chisels of the long streets, Nor the mallets of the domes And high towers, Can carve What one star can carve, Shining through the grape-leaves." From: Six Significant Landscapes, Wallace Stevens
I love this poem. This is the fifth landscape, and my favorite, but the poem as a whole is wonderful.Ā

Would you look at the patronus on this kid?!
āThe secret I learned is that albums that remind me of my childhood happiness make me incredibly sad now. I only have perfect memories of singing along to Graceland with my parents on long car rides to Virginia Beach to visit my parentsā friends. Itās sort of my go-to stock image of my childhood, actually. I think it has something to do with knowing Iāll never be able to go back to that time that makes me cry every time I listen to it.ā āMindy Kaling, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
Ah this is so true. There are a few albums that are indelibly linked to memories and then you hear them and youāre back in that time again, but also outside of it and itās strangely powerful.
For me, Virginia Coalition and the John Butler Trio will take me back to illicit weekend camping trips with boys, The Weepies are a road to all nighters freshman year of college, Abbey Road isĀ speeding on the Blue Ridge Parkway, andĀ Mumford & SonsāĀ Sigh No MoreĀ will always mean a summer night driving around with the windows down in the middle of nowhere with my best friend.Ā
