Todayâs news
Pilot: Disneyland
Yesterday, I went to Disneyland in hopes of trying out the new attraction, Star Wars: The Rise of The Resistance. Driving up from San Diego with a group of 6 other friends, we got to the Mickey and Friends parking structure by 8:10 in the morning. In the park by 9:00, we found out immediately that the boarding groups for the attraction were booked for the whole day. In disbelief, we headed straight through Frontier land back to Galaxyâs Edge to check out the newest addition of Disneyland.Â
We walked into the newest Star Wars land to be greeted by Stormtroopers. There were only two of them and they were standing on the ledge of a platform of your classic Star Wars âjunkâ. The park was pretty difficult to navigate because none of the writing on buildings were in English but the staff in the area was very helpful in answering any questions you may have for getting around. We decided to try the Millennium Falcon ride: The Smugglers Run first since we could access that one without having to book a boarding group. It was a great time and a truly different experience than your traditional Disneyland ride: assigning roles to perform during the ride and ensuring that everyone has a part during the experience.Â
What I had a problem with was when we went over to look at the Resistance portion of Galaxyâs Edge. Walking up to the entrance of the ride, I spoke to a gentleman who was monitoring the ride and asked him if there was a stand-by line we could wait in. âNo,â he said, âYou will have to get a boarding group.âÂ
âAre there anymore boarding groups being released today?â I asked.
âNo, we sold out at 8:01 this morning.â
The Disneyland Park opens at 8 AM. This means that some 100 boarding groups were filled within a minute of entering the park. An article published over a week ago stated, âDisneyâs Hollywood Studios quietly opened its gates several hours early during the first few days that Rise of the Resistance was operational, which meant the boarding passes were long gone by the official opening time of the parkâ (MACDONALD, B). The problems that occur with this new technological advanced era of Disneyland is that it focuses around being connected on your mobile devices for a majority of the day to see if new boarding groups even release.Â
For someone that is not well-off and wants to feel like they fully used their $125 admission to Disneyland, plus $25 parking, and $6 churros, and $18 lunches. Shit is fucking expensive and the price it costs to run it is only a fraction of their profits. I think Disneyland should be known as an environment of creating memories without the use of electronic devices. It is important to share a good conversation with your friends and having a kiss or two with your boyfriend then sitting there âplayingâ on your phonesâŚ

When I picture Disneyland in the future, I see a place that is built for being the happiest place on earth for having the happiest memories to reflect upon. Growing up as a child, Disneyland felt like my place to be a kid and enjoy myself because I always had the best time there with my family. And to spend that time as you get older with people that mean just as much to you is such a fun and awesome experience that shouldnât be ruined because you donât want to leave your house at 4:15 in the morning to get in line for a ride that opened a few days prior; please consider the message you are sending and just consider a stand-by line for the people who came specifically to try your new ride that weekend. We are Millennials at the end of the day and already canât afford to take nice vacations like this as often as we would truly like to.Â
Thanks yaâll and enjoy the rest of your week.Â
Signing off, this has been your host, Sara b. Ttfn!
Out with college, in with confusion
As a recent college graduate, I am currently at a cross-roads that I feel like many twenty-somethings can relate to. I went to college because that is what I was told to do. Sure, I had a passion for learning about politics and enjoyed thinking I was going to be some big shot lawyer like I have seen in Suits.. But the harsh reality is no one tells you is that not going to college is okay and sometimes may work in your favor.Â
I changed my major from communications, to criminal justice, to psychology, and then FINALLY settled down with the idea of political science in my sophomore year at college and thinking it would be best for me to move home and save money at a community college. I have now arrived at the point in my life where I have a degree, and I am applying to jobs I think I am qualified for (when in reality I have no idea) and just get a ton of rejection letters. From entry level positions. What is this crap? Is this really what I paid $35,000 for?
But then I realized that maybe the issue was that I was applying to jobs that I was qualified for then decided I didnât want, and the jobs that I am interested in I have absolutely no experience in. Who goes to college and gets a degree in politics then decides they want to work in social media or being a personal assistant for people in the entertainment business? And how can I get hired in a field like this with absolutely no experience?
If I would have taken the time to explore my true interests sooner, I feel like I would have a better grasp on reality. I have felt like I am at a fork in the road trying to decide what way is the best way to go forward that I inevitably end up going backwards. I am a college graduate who just got hired to serve tables at a sports bar because I feel too intimidated to try anything else in my life right now. I want to be confident in the career I choose. But figuring out how to get there is the hardest thing in the world.
Here is to having a degree and not knowing what the heck to do with it.Â
Please join me in my journey to find myself and a (hopefully) stable career.Â
Well, its been 4 months since I wrote that post and I have had quite the journey as a bartender. I managed to quit my other job at a restaurant and got a different job at a national food lab with better pay! (sweet!) I also met a group of the craziest and most authentic humans my small ass town couldâve ever hoped to have AKA my coworkers. Which is why, when the opportunity of a full-time job came knocking, I was shaken to my core to face the âadult worldâ again.Â
I fell in love with living a life for myself: being able to go shopping or run any errands when I needed to, finding a yoga class that I could go to every week and try out new classes simultaneously, having endless possibilities of how to spend my days since my nights were the only thing that I was booked for. Brunch. God I love brunch. and ACTUALLY using your groceries?? yes please.
I became a person I love being and I think life is too short to waste it unhappy. When I quit my job in San Francisco at a law firm that one of my close friends from college helped me get, I didnât plan on disappointing them... But I had to because of my unhappiness that followed from the job. I love being on my feet and will even try to walk more than 17,000 steps a day. I push myself to be more physical and I have loved the way it has made my body feel.Â
I still donât know what the future holds but from what I gathered over the past few months is no one does. But it is better to waste your time finding something you may like than to not be looking at all. I will miss the amazing work places I am currently employed and will definitely be coming back to them if my future doesnât work out like I hope it will. Thank you all for your continued support.

My ex called me a few months ago asking for a favor. We didnât end on a positive note in anyway shape or form, and to be frank, the relationship was abusive. I was hesitant to take his call let alone to respond to his texts, but men have a way of making things seem way more important than they really are âŚ
So you fall into their trap.
âI am interviewing for a job with the government and it is possible they might look into you or contact you in regards to this position,â he said.
My first thought was âwhat the fuck?â I asked him why I would be even someone they would consider talking to? And if there was a way he could get them not to talk to me. He said, no guarantees but he wanted me on the record saying I would cover for him.
The audacity.
After the load of bullshit that guy put me through⌠For over a year, I was crying, questioning every inch of who I was as a human, and realizing that this man set out on a mission to destroy me. He wanted to see how much I could take from someone I âlovedâ. There were boundaries but only because he didnât want any poor decisions tying him to anything. Everything that happened between us was face to face and never something that could have been screenshotted or had any physical evidence of.
But if the government ever did contact me, I would tell them about the abuse this man put me through.
How whenever he was drunk he would completely change and become someone who hated me. I honestly think there was a period of time where I hated myself too because of how hard he tried to engrave that in my head.
How I secretly began recording him in arguments to show how he would escalate out of no where and to have a record of him acting out of hand. Then I was being threatened to delete that video or recording because in California you must consent to being recorded.
How I started making a list of names he would call me that I kept saved in my notes on my phone.. âYou disgust me. Youâre a liar. Slut. I treat you like shit because thatâs how you deserve to be treated. I only invited you because youâre an easy lay. No one wants to be with you because you have herpes. You piece of shit. Youâre stupid. Youâre fucking selfish. You have no dignity. I canât date someone like you. Fuck you. Bitch. I should have fucked that other girl. I hate you. Youâre nothing to me. You dumb fuck. I loose brain cells when I talk to you. I hope you use that same logic when your husband cheats on you.â All of these words came from his mouth and were said to my face.
I pray that I never have to hear from him or see him ever again. The face of someone who acted in such a disrespectful manner towards me for a majority of the time we were together would be the most uncomfortable situation I could picture. And I genuinely hope I never have to picture it again.
Millennials get shit on for a lot of things, but it is essential to remember what this generation stands for. Millennials created the iPhone phenomenon and have made Apple thrive in sales. Millennials also created the style of people dressing to their comfort; whether that is Lululemon's or PrettyLittleThing is for the buyer to decide.. (But as the saying goes, "Por que no los dos"?). We are a generation that has accepted the things that have happened before us and will do anything and everything to make sure that the mistakes of the past do not become us in the future. We are the generation of information and need to be using this new standard to keep others accountable: to their actions, to their people, to their world. May the decade of 2020 bring you peace and love.
Explore your forehead where your intuition and wisdom lay, bring your thumbs down to your sweet smiling lips, we speak from love and kindness, and press your thumbs to your heart of hearts filled with compassion, namaste.
