I’m all about girls, and I love that I get to connect with girls all over the world and realize that, in the end, we’re all the same. We all struggle with the same things, in different sort of exteriors, but I think the heart of it, or the interior of what we struggle with, is very similar.

Being a girl in the industry is really hard. A lot of people try to take advantage of you, and a lot of people try to get you to do things and take shortcuts. I’ve had to shoo a lot of bad people out of my life, and I’ve had to dodge a lot of bullets, but I will say that it is possible to do it and do it right. I don’t think you have to sell out in this industry to make it. I hope young girls will respect who they are, respect their bodies, and respect themselves. Girls should stand up for themselves more and be confident in who they are so that they aren’t disrespected. The more confident you are and the firmer you stand, the harder it is to push you off.

If you’re having a hard time because you like something that maybe a lot of other people don’t, know that when you grow up, no one cares. It’s so great. I call it like a fish bowl to an ocean. There are too many people to keep track of for everyone to judge. I feel like it just gets a lot more laid back and no one cares. It’s really nice.

[What’s it like to see Teen Wolf be going into it’s sixth season?] “I feel like I’ve lived through five sequels. I’ve lived through a longer ‘Lord of the Rings’ triology than Elijah Wood has.”

Crystal Reed came back for season 5. So, how’s that having your friend back? “I’m really happy for her and that she’s got to explore a different time period. Of course if love my friend on set”

I pride myself on being an actor—and I think it comes from my soap opera days where I’d only have one take and if someone messed up a line, I’d have to repeat it as a question just so we’d keep going, so there’s this side of me that, when they call action I will make it work. I feel like I’ve become a “Yes” girl. Like you tell me to do something and I’ll make it work. I get off on that and I think it’s fascinating and I love that challenge.
