Friends, shall we begin?
Enshelter is my new Dramione story which you can now read the first chapter on AO3!
The story starts from the scene in the Deathly Hallows in which Harry goes to Voldemort and the Dark Lord kills him or he believes he killed him. Then he finds himself in the caring arms of another mother, this time it is Narcissa Malfoy's.
Here I am, continuing my Dramione journey with another fanfic. This story hurts my heart so much but still I love every detail of it dearly and I'm so excited to finally share it with you. Please do not hesitate sharing your ideas and feelings about the chapter. I’ll be sharing chapter updates, visuals inspired by the story and upcoming news here, again.
Summary:
Two enemies were bound together by a single purpose: finding the people they loved. Harry Potter had disappeared with Narcissa Malfoy, leaving chaos behind and more questions than answers. While Draco made sacrifices to find his mother, Hermione never gave up searching for her best friend, only ending up captured. The journey that brought them together demanded even greater sacrifices, as they held on to the hope that one day… they would finally find them.

Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Neville chose to remain for a time at the Noble Black Family’s house, hoping it might offer them some measure of healing. They made a promise to shape their future through love and peace, together. But life rarely honors promises. It tests them. And for Hermione, that test arrived tangled in a quiet suffering and emotions she was not prepared to confront. She had no idea that her end might come from something as simple as a book. And sometimes, salvation does not come gently, nor from where it is expected. This time, it came in the form of Draco Malfoy.

How Dramione flirt in my head:
“You seem nervous tonight, Minister,” he said at last, his voice low enough to belong only to her.
Hermione didn’t look at him immediately. “That’s because a creep has been following me,” she replied.
Draco’s brow lifted slightly. “How concerning. Should I alert security?”
“I was considering it,” she said, finally turning to him. “Tall. Blond. Questionable.”
A faint smirk touched his lips. “Dangerous description.”
“Very,” she agreed. “He keeps appearing every time the music changes.”
Draco leaned closer. “And has he done anything alarming?”
“Persistent eye contact,” she said dryly. “Unsettling proximity.”
“Scandalous.”
She held his gaze now, unable to fully suppress the smile tugging at her lips. “I believe I can manage him.”

Theodore Nott once said:
“I swear to Merlin, if one of those fuckers got their hands on it, we’re going to find them and burn their whole hideout to the ground.”
(Rise Above, Chapter 26)
“Ah. The Weasley boy.” Ron squared his shoulders. “And you? Theodore Nott?” Theo gave a little theatrical bow. “Indeed. Son of a Death Eater. Aspiring disappointment. Possibly the last person you want to see on your doorstep at dawn.”
(Rise Above, Chapter 27)
Ron stepped into the doorway, glaring at Theo like a guard dog. “If you touch her, I’ll kill you.” “Get in line, ginger.”
(Rise Above, Chapter 27)
“Granger. Do you know me? Or remember? We didn’t have a good past but…” “Draco told me about you.” “Really? He tells me about you too.” “Oh.” Her cheeks flushed slightly.
(Rise Above, Chapter 27)
“You really are a tough girl,” he said after a beat. She turned to him. “He said that?” “No. Uh, that was me.” Theo scratched the side of his face awkwardly.
(Rise Above, Chapter 27)
Theo stepped forward, glancing around the clearing. “Clever bastards.”
(Rise Above, Chapter 28)
Theo turned to Harry. “This is going to be fun,” he said dryly. “Do I get bonus pay for haunted mansions and emotional trauma?”
(Rise Above, Chapter 28)
Theo vaulted over a broken table to duel two masked figures. “You lot again? Don’t you have graves to rot in?”
(Rise Above, Chapter 29)
“She’s not fine,” Theo said. “She’s alive. There’s a difference.”
(Rise Above, Chapter 32)
Even Theo Nott showed up and smirked, “Minister, if you need someone to outlaw boredom, I’m your man.”
(Rise Above, Chapter 36)

Rise Above is a completed Post-War Dramione story. A story which starts with the characters trying to recover and heal the wounds the war left behind. While Hermione Granger struggles to decide what kind of life she wants to build after everything she has lost, the remaining Death Eaters strike when she is at her weakest and take her. Hermione refuses to give them what they want, they get mad and a dangerous curse begins taking hold of her body. As she desperately searches for answers to what is happening to her, her path leads her to the Malfoy Library and to Draco Malfoy himself. Haunted by guilt, burdened by the choices he made, even though he doesn’t like the idea at all, Draco decides to help her.
Hello friends! I never had the chance to sit down and properly talk about myself and my Harry Potter Dramione fanfiction called Rise Above until now.
I am an emotional and observant person. I really love stories and memories. For me, everything started one random day when I bought myself a lavender colored journal. Oh, I loved that journal and wrote every single thought in my mind in it. Then, the stories followed. Some mine, some imagined. I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember. I used to write countless stories, read some of them to my friends and share others across different platforms just for fun. Along the way, I learned so much about storytelling and writing. Deep down, I always thought that maybe one day, I would write my own book.
However, life had other plans and eventually, I had to step away from it. I got really busy with all the things I have to go through just to live a normal life. Maybe I was too fragile and emotional and life was hard for me so it was a struggle or maybe life really was that hard. I don't know anymore. Then, my body and mind could no longer keep up with the life I was living and I found myself unwell. It was a difficult journey, one that forced me to stop fighting and struggling, slow down, reflect and remember who I am. Over time, I found my way back to reading and writing again. Somewhere along the way, the idea for Rise Above came to me. It was really hard for me to write this time but I had too many feelings and thoughts to give so I eventually did.
Anyway, Rise Above is a completed Post-War Dramione story. A story which starts with the characters trying to recover and heal the wounds the war left behind. I wanted the beginning to feel heavy and wanted to show what the characters go through right after.
Haunted by guilt, burdened by the ruins of the war and the choices he made, even though he doesn’t like the idea at all, Draco decides to help her.
If you enjoy tension, apologies, arguments, heartbreak but also friendship, slow-burn romance, hope and bravery, then welcome to Rise Above.
Please be gentle with this being my first piece after years away. I am just someone who genuinely likes writing.
I grew up with Harry Potter and somehow I just found myself in this sweet world of Dramione fanfics. So, here's one more to the fandom. I hope you'll like it/you liked it.
I truly want to thank everyone for the kudos and comments on AO3 and all the likes and reposts here. You have no idea how much it makes me happy.
Like I said before, I posted this rather spontaneously and didn’t expect any response at all, so your support has meant more to me than I can express. Waking up to another day feels less horrible now. Thank you for spending your time with my story.
Next time, I’ll be sharing some major updates. If you’d like to follow along or chat with me, I’ll be here.
Until the major update, if you are interested in, click here to read Rise Above.

Chapter 36: The Ministry
Draco stood at the far end of the ballroom, sharp and striking in his tailored black suit. The silver dragon cufflinks at his wrists glinted with each subtle shift of his hand. His intense gaze was locked on her.
She drew in a shallow breath, fingers curling around the stem of her champagne glass.
Would he walk toward her?
Would he finally say something, after so long?

Chapter 11: The Wound
Draco rolled his eyes, reaching into his cloak. He pulled out a wand and held it toward her.
“Here. Your mother gave me this.”
Hermione took the wand carefully, gripping it tightly.
Draco stepped back toward the door. “Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone.”
She smirked tiredly. “You must have confused me with yourself.”
He let out a quiet scoff. He shook his head, stepping into the hallway. “I’ll be back soon. Just rest.”

Chapter 33: The Dinner
The doorbell rang. Everyone in the room looked up, surprised.
“I’ll get it,” Hermione said, brushing imaginary crumbs from her dress as she stood. “Maybe someone forgot something.”
She padded through the quiet hallway and the moment she opened the door, time stilled. Draco Malfoy stood on the doorstep, dressed in an immaculately tailored navy-blue suit, one hand tucked in his coat pocket, the other holding a bouquet of cream roses and pale lilac asters. He looked calmer and more poised than she’d seen him before but his eyes, as always, betrayed something fragile beneath the surface. His gaze swept over her soft ivory dress that fit her like a dream and her hair softly curled and tucked behind one ear.
“You look gorgeous,” he murmured.
Hermione froze, a flutter blooming in her chest.
“Umm… thanks,” she replied, her cheeks blooming pink.
“I couldn’t make it to dinner,” he said, eyes not leaving hers. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay.” Her voice was breathier than intended.
“These are for you.” He extended the flowers.
She accepted them carefully, holding the bouquet like it was something precious. The scent filled her nose. “They’re beautiful.”
A beat passed between them, and then Draco’s voice dropped lower, more hesitant. “Can I have a word with you?”
“Of course. Come in.”

Chapter 18: The Library
“There are more books than I expected,” she murmured, almost to herself, her voice barely audible in the hushed atmosphere.
Harry stepped forward, scanning the endless rows of books, his expression tense. “How are we supposed to search all of this? It’ll take forever.”
Draco scoffed, crossing his arms. “Relax, Potter. That’s why I’m here.”
Before either of them could say another word, Hermione had already wandered off, her fingertips ghosting over the spines of old, weathered volumes as she drank in the sight. The dim glow from enchanted chandeliers above flickered against her curls as she moved deeper into the library, entranced.
Harry sighed, watching her disappear between the towering shelves. He turned to Draco. “It’s odd. I wasn’t even sure this place actually existed.”
Draco didn’t respond immediately. His gaze swept over the room with a quiet familiarity, memories stirring like dust in the air. This place had always been real to him. He had spent countless hours here as a child, sitting beside his mother as she pulled elegant tomes from the shelves, guiding his hand as he traced the gilded lettering on their covers.

Chapter 29: Within Doors
Suddenly a jet of red light shot toward him from the shadows. Draco dove aside, rolling across the dusty floorboards as the curse scorched the air where he had just been standing.
The Disillusionment Charm shattered with the impact, revealing him in the dim light.
Crouch stepped from the darkness, breathing heavily, wand raised and twitching with anticipation.
“Well, well,” he whispered, “still got some fight in you after all, Draco. Daddy would be proud.”
Draco raised his wand, eyes dark with fury. “Don’t talk about my father.”
“Why not?” Crouch sneered. “He is a coward, and so are you. But here you are, trying to play the hero. What a joke.”
Without a word, Draco fired off a vicious blast of magic. Crouch deflected it with ease, countering with a string of rapid-fire hexes. Draco ducked and returned fire, the corridor erupting in a storm of curses. Flames licked at the walls, portraits exploded, and a chandelier crashed to the floor in a roar of shattered crystal.

Chapter 24: The Morning After
“Hermione?”
Hermione looked at her, startled by Ginny’s tone. “What is it? Is everything alright?”
Ginny stepped closer, lowering her voice slightly. “You’ve got someone waiting for you.”
Hermione blinked. “Who?”
Ginny crossed her arms, lips twitching in disbelief. “Malfoy. He’s outside. Standing by the front gate like a ghost.”
Hermione’s heart skipped. “What?”
“Yeah,” Ginny said, tilting her head. “That was my exact reaction. He knocked, asked for you, and refused to come in. Just said it was important.”
Hermione rose quickly, smoothing down the front of her jumper with trembling hands. “Did he look—?”
Ginny raised an eyebrow. “He looked like a man who didn’t sleep all night. Which makes two of you, I guess.”
Hermione let out a breath and tried to steady her thoughts. “I don’t know what is going on.”
“Well, you’re about to find out,” Ginny replied, giving her a knowing look. “I’ll be in the kitchen if you need backup.”

Chapter 31: Goodbye
“It’s okay. Just a dream,” he said again like he knew it, his voice was low and soothing. His brows were drawn, concern etched into every line of his pale face.
Hermione blinked, heart racing, struggling to separate dream from reality. Slowly, as the silence settled between them, she began to breathe again. Her pulse calmed. The vision faded like mist, leaving only the ache in her chest.
She closed her eyes briefly, grounding herself, then reopened them. He was still there watching her.
“What do you see?” he whispered.
Hermione swallowed. “You.”
“Bad?”
“Yes.”
“How long?”
She didn’t speak, just turned her head toward him fully, letting silence be the answer.

Chapter 20: The Potion
Draco’s lips tugged into a small, crooked smile of his own. “Good to see you looking more like yourself.”
“Thanks,” she said, a little shyly.
“I mean, you’re a pain when you’re sick.”
Hermione rolled her eyes, even as the tension in her shoulders softened. “Of course. Why would I ever think you were being sincere?”
Draco smirked in return, but there was something warmer in it this time. Something that didn’t quite reach mockery.
“So why are you suddenly so… interested?” she asked, narrowing her eyes slightly.
“Because you’ve been occupying my library for the past few months,” he replied dryly. “Not seeing you here was… noticeable.”
“Likewise.” She bit back a smile.
