a list of sounds

You make lists in your head about what you want in a lover, like brown hair and a sweet voice. A sharp mind and a soft heart, a sense of humor that actually makes you laugh like you mean it. This and that. And it’s all crack. Because people aren’t lists. And I’ve always wanted to be the person who made someone realize that. I want to come across someone with a list in their head that is nothing like the person I am, and I want to show them what they didn’t even know they were looking for. People who think they know what they want are fooling themselves. Nobody really knows what they want. Not until it’s right in front of them.

It’s Monday, and your hair is messy. You haphazardly put on your jeans and shirt as you moan about the day of the week - and I love you. It’s Tuesday, and you’re stumbling your way around the room, trying to sort out the things you have to do. You stop to briefly kiss the freckles on my nose, asking me about my day - and I love you. It’s Wednesday, and you’re quietly sprawled on the couch. You pat the spot next to you and pepper kisses on my hair because it’s my least favorite day of the week (and you know it) - and I love you. It’s Thursday, and you’re wondering what the weekend will bring, but you’re still moaning about how the week is going by too slow for your tastes - and I love you. It’s Friday, and I’m surrounded by DVDs and snacks you’ve prepared when I was gone. You welcome me with blankets and warmth from your arms - and I love you. It’s Saturday, and you’re feeling lazy. You won’t let me leave your arms (or is it the other way around?) So you tuck me under your chin as we both wonder how much time we have left before sleep makes us miss each other’s faces - and I love you. It’s Sunday, and there’s nothing much to say but I love you.

Don’t you EVER do this to a person’s hair. That is a VIOLATION of a person’s body! If you think “she deserved it” then you deserve to be punished for harassment because doing anything to a person’s body without their permission is harassment. And since hair is a part of a person;s body, you have no right to touch, play with, cut, or mess up a person;s hair witout explicit permission. 

“Funny” but True story: Cutting off a chunk of someone’s hair without their consent is actually, legally considered assault and battery with a deadly weapon. A girl in my sister’s class did this exact thing to her once, and she reported it to the police. The girl was legit charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Yep. Hair is considered, legally, to be part of someone’s body, hence the law.

Someone pretended to do this to me in high school. They had fake hair in their hand and snipped the scissors close to my head and laughed hysterically. They held the hair in front of my face and taunted me while everyone laughed too. Instead of lashing out and hitting them (like high school me always did) or taking the hair, I burst into tears. I just started crying hysterically.
