Getting cowpox prevents you from getting smallpox. So for about 140 years, routine, purposeful infection with cowpox was part of childhood. That's the original vaccine. From the latin "vaca", meaning "cow".

But cowpox is really hard to keep alive without refrigeration, which for a lot of that 140 years, didn't exist. So the second best way was to keep the cowpox alive in a human host- you infect someone with cowpox, wait ten days until they get pustules, harvest some pus, infect the next person, and so on.

This leads us to a really cool fun fact, which is that an orphanage in St. Petersburg, Russia kept a strain of cowpox alive this way for an unbroken 92 years between 1801 and 1893. 92 years of arm-to-arm transmission of cowpox. Saving countless children's lives from smallpox in the process.

if i need to explain my thought process behind this. i made it so that they were all meant to show [anger/rage] -> [apathy/numbness] -> [mania/delirium] respectively! yanagi being due to his family's prior history of control and abuse, akiba due to his (forced) nomadic habits and general rejection sensitivity, and suzuki due to his stated "pretentious", narcissistic and self-absorbed nature (even if we didn't get much of him).

and an additional note: all three student sixteens are going to be relevant in my AU! this is for one reason: even in canon dr games, the sixteenth students were always important. mukuro ikusaba, the sixteenth student: the ultimate despair, and tied into the mastermind behind the first killing game of class 78. chiaki nanami, the sixteenth student of class 77-B: an AI made to serve as a guide for the remnants, and the "traitor" of the killing game. rantaro amami, the sixteenth student of v3: the ultimate survivor, and the key to the last class trial, as the mastermind's victim. i say this was never used ever and i will be doing that now because. why the hell not LOL

no, urination does not help to prevent pregnancy, although it can help reduce the risk of a urinary tract infection. pregnancy occurs when sperm combines with an egg, which can only occur after the sperm enters the vagina. urine exits the body through the urethra, which is an entirely different part of the body and is not connected to the vaginal canal. thus urination does not impact likeliness of pregnancy.

the most most reliable ways to prevent an unwanted pregnancy are methods such as hormonal birth control pills, copper or hormonal IUDs in the uterus, and the consistent use of condoms.
