Each college station gives fans worldwide 24/7, free access to live play-by-play audio streams, as well as on-demand programming. While the programming lineup varies across the stations, college sports that will stream live on TuneIn include football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and hockey, as well as coaches’ shows.

As part of TuneIn’s partnership with IMG comes the re-launch of the College Sports Now channel that will broadcast two IMG-produced original programs: A two-hour college sports round-up show airing weekdays from 10 a.m. – Noon ET and Nissan College Football Blitz, dropping listeners into live college football games from around the country every Saturday starting at 2 p.m. ET.

21-year veteran pitcher LaTroy ‘Hawk’ Hawkins, former Dodgers General Manager and current team advisor Ned Colletti, World Series-winning infielder Geoff Blum and versatile radio host Holden Kushner round out TuneIn’s lineup of baseball voices bringing live daily coverage to its dedicated MLB on TuneIn station.

Hawkins, Colletti and Blum will rotate in the analyst role alongside Kushner Monday through Friday from 7:00 p.m. – Midnight ET. Broadcast live from TuneIn Studios in Venice, CA, the five-hour show will provide listeners with drop-ins from local radio coverage of in-progress MLB games, plus post-game interviews and analysis.

“We are excited to have assembled an informative group of talent to kick off our latest original content venture that highlights the action and provides insightful analysis to break it down for the fans listening on TuneIn,” said Kevin Straley, TuneIn Chief Content Officer. “Baseball is the original audio sport and we are excited to enhance the experience for TuneIn listeners with the most timely updates from across all thirty Major League ballparks.

Despite holding the distinction of the league’s oldest active player at the time of his retirement in 2015, Hawkins is the broadcast rookie amongst the foursome, beginning his career in sports broadcasting with TuneIn. Hawkins capped off an incredible 21-year playing career with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015, making 18 regular season appearances on the mound for a 1-0 record, earning 14 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings. Throughout his career, Hawkins played for 11 different clubs, making an appearance in the 2007 World Series with the Colorado Rockies, as well as an ALCS appearance in his final playing year with the Blue Jays. His 1,042 games pitched make him the most-recent member of the 1,000-games pitch club.

As a native of Illinois, Colletti began his MLB front office career in 1982 with his hometown Chicago Cubs. He spent 13 years there before joining the San Francisco Giants, first as the Director of Baseball Operations before being promoted to Assistant General Manager in 1996. During the 10 years he spent in San Francisco, the Giants compiled an 813-644 (.558) record. In 2005, Colletti became the 10th General Manager for the Los Angeles Dodgers where over the nine seasons he was at the helm, the Dodgers won five division titles in nine years, 14 playoff games and made back-to-back NLCS appearances in 2008 and 2009. Colletti remains active within the Dodgers organization as Special Advisor to the President and CEO. He also contributes to Dodgers broadcast coverage on Sportsnet LA.

During his 14-year career in the majors, Blum was an infielder for six different teams. He retired with an impressive batting average of .250, 99 home runs and 479 RBIs. Blum played a pivotal role in the Chicago White Sox’s 2005 World Series Championship, hitting a home run in the top of the 14thinning of game three to give Chicago the win. Following his playing career, Blum immediately transitioned to broadcasting, serving as the Houston Astros TV analyst since 2013, and is also a college baseball analyst with Pac-12 Networks.  

Kushner brings more than 15 years broadcasting experience to TuneIn, as a sports radio and television host. Most recently, Kushner was a studio host for MASN, which broadcasts Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles games. He was also the midday host on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C. covering the D.C. sports landscape. Prior to WJFK, he could be heard on a number of Sirius XM channels including MLB Network Radio and the SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Channel.

TuneIn’s daily MLB show will be available to all subscribers on the MLB on TuneIn station, which currently features daily recaps and press conferences from around Major League Baseball, plus team-specific channels with news and analysis. Programming on the MLB on TuneIn station complements the MLB content offering on the TuneIn Premium level of service that includes home and away feeds for every game, from Spring Training to the World Series.

Radiotonic (Australia) 

“Some days I like to think of it as a kind of audio curiosity journal,” said Radiotonic’s affable and mischievous host, Jesse Cox, who introduces each 30-minute episode with a hop and a skip. If the show’s enemy is the dull and prescriptive, then it casts itself as both an intelligent and cheeky pillager, leaving no stories unturned from its home country (Australia) and the world over—from French experimental literary groups (“Infiltrating Oulipo”) to a young man who follows his pirate-costumed lady love from suburban Australia all the way to Paris (“A magnanimous gesture in international relations”). To say that Radiotonic’s episode “The Real Tom Banks”—which won the Best Documentary Silver Award at the 2014 Third Coast International Audio Festival—“doesn’t sound like anything I’ve heard before” sounds stale, but stale-sounding things are often true. The show’s method and style allow it to pillage even-handedly, often playfully, making it clear that culture, a heady mix by nature, is begging to be heard, not just listened to. Radiotonic was created in 2014 as part of two projects (Soundproof, which also makes great radio art, was the other) from the newly created Creative Audio Unit at ABC Radio National. Cox, who is inspired by other radio shows and art forms, like Jervis Cocker's Wireless Nights, CBC’s Wiretap (now retired), Tim Key’s comedy and Gogol's Overcoat, hopes to “keep experimenting and creating a space for play on the podcast.” 

Documentary on One (Ireland) 

A brief breakdown of Irish public radio: Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) is Ireland’s public media broadcaster; Radio 1 is RTÉ’s principal radio station and the most listened to radio station in Ireland; the award-winning Documentary on One, which RTÉ Radio 1 launched in 1987, may be the station’s crown jewel. Though the team only consists of five full-time producers, the show has collected over 150 national and international awards throughout the last eight years alone—from Los Angeles to London, Berlin to Tehran, Kuala Lumpur to Dublin. Documentary on One’s website is also home to the largest free online radio documentary archive anywhere in the world, with almost 1,500 documentaries, some dating as far back as 1954. Two of my favorite radio documentaries from the last decade include the show’s “Message in a Bottle” (2012) (an American serviceman’s carefully bottled note is discovered by a young dairymaid on the shores of County Kerry) and “Birdy” (2010) (a paragliding champion is sucked into a storm that pulls her higher than Mount Everest). Our sneak peek of 2016 promises another exciting year with an eclectic mix of tales—searching for the last hangman of Ireland, a grandmother who can't give up shoplifting, a son who goes in search of his father’s legacy, a re-imagining of an epic event in Ireland's history... 

TubeFlash (United Kingdom) 

Chalk Farm, Mornington Crescent, Euston, King’s Cross. Within a blink of roughly 300 words (which at times verges on poetry), I tiptoe along the rails of the stations along the Northern Line that I have come to know well, finding them transformed and reimagined by someone else. Two of newly launched TubeFlash’s major partners—BBC ARTS and Transport for London—corroborate the podcast’s unifying motif, where creative storytelling meets urban engagement: flash fiction inspired by the London Underground. Scientific inquiry has yet to conclude whether the average Underground commuter—expressionless, self-contained, pointedly shielded by iPhones or the Evening Standard—would display any emotional reaction if a Tube car inexplicably flooded with boiling tea. The London Underground is possibly the most iconic global transportation system to best capture its culture’s defining characteristic—the British “stiff upper lip.” If administered as a public service by its first namesake, TubeFlash— whose tales span genres, from romantic comedy to crime drama—could help to loosen the rigid jawlines of many Londoners.

Through collaboration with a variety of partners including Comcast Ventures, Westwood One Radio, Big Machine Label Group and Loma Vista Recordings + BODY HIGH, TuneIn will bring an unprecedented offering of content to listeners worldwide and SXSW patrons spanning sports, music and entertainment. The complete line-up delivers seven sports audio episodes and 21 live music performances from both established and emerging talent.
