This is what my car looks like right now. I need non-covid-infested transport to work to make rent that’s more than 4x higher than it was back in Nebraska.

The radiator is broken, power steering fluid has all leaked out and that needs repair, and the steel engine supports need replacing. All told, I’m looking at either a $2.5k repair bill or a new car and the payments that come with it.

I know we all share the same 20 bucks in this capitalist hellscape, and I know I’ve asked for too much help this year already, but this is breaking me. My mom is high-risk and taking freelance web gigs to make January rent. I’m a new grocery store worker, uninsured (for now) and my panic disorder is getting way out of control again. 2020 is doing its damn best to run me into the ground. I could just use a little more help to get me through this.

The fire started because of renovation work. It’s an accident, as far as anybody knows.

Because of the renovation work, a lot of the art (statues and things like that) in the cathedral had already been removed. Firefighters are working to save as much as possible

The stonework will probably survive 

This isn’t the first time the cathedral has been damaged. It’s 900 years old, and France has had a pretty bloody history in that time.

At this point the roof and spire are completely destroyed and the stained glass is lost

it’s awful. It’s awful to look at. It’s a horrible loss to all of us. Being sad is normal and you don’t have to feel stupid if you feel sad.
