the life of someone with horrible memory

Annika and I are on a coffee adventure today. We are conquering Georgetown today. Our first stop is Grace Street! I have never been here (or any of the places we are going today!). I tried the matcha latte because it’s not very common to have at cafes and I am still trying to figure out whether I like it or not. Honestly... kind of wack. I’m thinking that I don’t really like it, but I really like how it looks. It kind of tastes like green beans and it definitely tastes like grass. I dragged some of the macha off of the top because that’s the worst part and I made a nice/slime-like design on my plate. Also the mugs are very cute. I really really want to come back here again because I liked the atmosphere a lot and I want to see how their actual coffee tastes. Annika payed for parking... I love her.

Um when it’s so cold overnight that your coffee and celery freeze. Eating it was such a weird experience. It was almost like it was less crunchy than actual celery despite the fact that it was ice. It was like a celery flavored slushie. Also I went to Buzz last night to read and I got regular coffee. I didn’t finish it all because it was like.. nine pm. And here it is, frozen.

I DID EVERYTHING TO GET THIS DRINK. I picked up Molly and we were going to go to Grounded Coffee together because she had never been there before. Once we arrived, I realized it had closed at three or something, some time that was ridiculously early. She was still down to go somewhere for coffee, so we went to Old Town to go to Swings. Swings ended up being closed too, which blew me. The next place we went to was Buzz. The power was out so they didn’t have any coffee or working cash registers! Also Ms. Bruce (Molly’s art teacher from high school) was there :/. Undefeated and still determined, we went to St. Elmo’s in Del Ray. It was open and the power was on! I tried my first ever Americano. I was so delicious! (Side note from one month later - this is still the best americano I’ve had to this day.) 

This photo was taken earlier than my last post about the Art Museum actually. I can’t remember exactly where it was but I think it was St. Elmo’s? I think it was a latte. If I remember correctly, I was kind of unimpressed. I read my book some, and listened to the conversations that a large group of old men were having. They all seemed to be having a good time together. I remember that it was really hard to find parking this day in Del Rey. I drove by the Louison’s house once by accident and I saw their dad inside, at the table.

After the museum we went to shake shack to eat. I had a mint chocolate milk shake with my burger and as usual the meal killed me because it was so good. We tried to ride the metro home but there were hardly any trains running home. We were really at a loss for what to do. We thought about riding the bus but didn’t because we had no idea how to work it and it can take a long time some times and Lola needed to get home because she was leaving for school in the morning. We ended up calling an Uber, but it took a really long time to arrive. We were waiting in a McDonald's for the guy to show up, and when it finally did and when we finally found it we were still held up because Karinna was buying a homeless man some food from McD’s, but the driver was super chill about it. I talked to him on the way home and it was really refreshing because he had a really positive view on life.

It snowed a little bit last night! The boys seemed to like it, although they were happy to come back inside. I am going to the American Art Museum with Annika, Karinna, and Lola today :)

I left Casey’s dogs to go to Swings! I got there just a little before they were closing, so I didn’t get to read for very long. My latte was so delicious and beautiful. I definitely want to go there some more to truly experience all that they have to offer.

I made it back safely and checked in on Dewey and Rupert! These angels were very excited to see me. Casey’s family is letting me stay at her house this weekend by myself with the dogs. It is very cool to experience living by myself. There is a box of snicker doodle cookies with a sign that says to eat as many as I’d like and I have already had like... one thousand.

We had to wake up earlyish today because I have to go back home to take care of Casey’s dogs. My dad is taking care of them this morning, but I can’t leave them there for too long unattended. I was woken up by Georgia’s dog jumping on my face which was sweet. I luckily wasn’t fully asleep, so I wasn’t too surprised and I just laughed about it. We went to the other Lamp Lighter today. The guy working there was kind of cute :^) I ordered pancakes, eggs, and sausage with a plain coffee. It was all so delicious. 

I slept on an air mattress on G’s floor. Before going to be I was looking at a list of the top songs of the 60s and we were listening to some of them, and we were looking at pitchfork’s list of the top 500 songs of the 00s. It was really fun because I’m always amazed at how many songs she doesn’t know. We joke about how she wasn’t born until some time after 2009 (the best year in music history).

Bowling with the softball gang! Picking everyone up was such an ordeal that could have been easily avoided if my memory didn’t slip up so much! But it was all part of the fun. I picked up Molly, and then I went to pick up Monica but I found out that I got the times mixed up and that she wasn’t home from work yet. Then, we were going to pick up Emily, but instead I drove right to old town. I drove back to pick up Emily, and by that time Monica was ready to be picked up, so I got her to and we went to old town. This whole time, Madison and Casey were waiting at Pop’s for us. We ate ice cream and Madison accidentally outed Casey to everyone omg. Then we went to Bowl America. We played two rounds and I didn’t win either, but also didn’t lose either! We shared some fries and nachos.

Later, I went to grounded coffee for the first time! Unfortunately, they were about to close, so I didn’t get to read. I got a white mocha and it was really yummy. I really wanted to see if they had any seasonal drinks but I didn’t see any until right after I ordered smh. Anyway, I really want to go back again before I leave for school to try those drinks.

I had to leave the early so again I didn’t get to finish it! I went to meet Vicky, Katie, and Geli at Panera in Kingstowne to catch up with Katie and tell Geli about what UMW is like. She’s going to go there next year!

We left the gardens a little before they were about to close. I realized that the art museum I had sort of planned for us to go to was also going to close at five and that the cafe I had planned for us to go to had closed a few hours ago haha. We decided to go to a pizza place nearby that I had seen online called We the Pizza. It was delicious! I asked the cashier if Obama had ever been there and he said yes, a few years ago, but that Michelle had been there a little over a month ago. Iconic! I wonder if we stood in their same place :’) also Molly is so cute

Um, I’m shook. The gardens are so beautiful. I can’t believe that I have never been there before, and I cannot wait to go back! Molly and I made a wish in every fountain while we pondered how much money they must make from people like this. Is that how they’re able to have the gardens be free? The lemon tree was so beautiful and I took a photo to show my mom. This summer I want to go to the arboretum to see what’s there. 

Going to the Botanical Gardens with Molly today! We saw some deer at Huntington, and I got a spiced flat white at Starbucks. It was delicious
