Final Assignment
@necsocialmedia I will miss this class. TBH i thought it was going to be a silly stupid class. I am so happy to have been wrong. I learned a lot and enjoyed it immensely!
Publix – Where Shopping is a Pleasure
The brand I am representing today is Publix. Publix is a grocery store. As you see from my title, their slogan is, “Where Shopping is a Pleasure.” Publix has what I call a on the DL social media presence. They don’t make it flashy, they are simply there.
I do not really see grocery stores as having a big media presence. I don’t think it is necessary in their line of business. You have to have groceries, so it isn’t as necessary to have a huge media presence. They do better with the app business. Like daily coupons and weekly ads. Word of mouth is better than any social media presence they might want. There are two reason you pick a grocery store over the other. The first is price and the second is customer service.
Their overall social media use? The normal, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. From what I see they are pretty active on all three.
Their strategy is pretty simple, to get you, the consumer involved. Whether it is inviting you for a hoagie on National Hoagie Day or clever ideas for Mom on her special day. Their Twitter asks you to leave a story or ask a question. They make use of the hashtags as well. #MothersDay #NationalHoagieDay #Publix.
Publix has a quiet social commerce strategy. I think they do this on purpose, as I stated above, they prefer the word of mouth effect of commerce. Don’t get me wrong they have their share of commercials. The commercials are on point for their target audience. Mothers and families. For the most part, it is the mothers that do they grocery shopping, what better way to get them in your store is through a tear jerker commercial? The recipes and other ideas are great for families.
With being a chain of grocery stores, I do not see them with a big relationship with any company. I see them more invested with families and their employees. They encourage employees and customers to share their stories, good or bad. If they are bad, they are dealt with within minutes.
I found one review from a woman named Liz that states, “What's special about this publix? I had someone try to help me find an exotic spice, even googling it. They made sure that I could get everything on my list, even if it wasn't found at their store. Awesome.”

More I love @Publix. I got home and found about $6.00 worth of coupons in my pocket. They let me get credit the next time I came back it. #Publix
New poll says that Publix has the third best reputation among US Companies. The Polk County Sheriff’s office, says, way to make your hometown proud!

Just some random shoppers, expressing their love for their new Publix!
"Where shopping is a pleasure." Publix Especially when they give your 2 year old and 1 year old a free cookie 🍪 to keep them busy/happy while mommy shops. #MomLife #Publix #Shopping#GroceryShopping #Cookies
One of the things the Publix bakery has always done, is give free cookies to kids. It is a wonderful little treat! For the most part, the reviews are all very complimentary. You will always have nay sayers in any industry you are in, but I think Publix is known for their customer service and it shows by people that return every day. Reviews online can be good, however being in customer service I know that you usually only review something to say negative things about the company. I was hard pressed finding bad reviews on Publix. I went to Yelp, Twitter and Facebook. They are either doing a great job at customer service or hiding their negative reviews.
Overall, Publix has the social media thing down. They have the customer help page as well as the regular page. I can see that if someone had a problem, it was taken care of. People love Publix and it shows. I cannot tell you how many of my friends showed pictures of their subs (hoagies) with the #publix and #yummy and all sort of funny hashtags.
I like the way Publix keeps the social media presence to a minimum. They don’t have to be in your face and flashy to get your attention. They do it simply by being nice and friendly. Publix is indeed, a pleasure to shop at.
