Everyone else in Yor's life seems to believe she was. I'm sure Yuri would have taken any lie Yor told him about her work at face value, especially when he was a child who wouldn't understand. But he isn't stupid. And unlike with his suspicious about Yor's marriage, everyone else in his life also believes this. Yuri probably put the pieces together when he got older which only made him more overprotective.

This would recontextualize a lot of Yuri's actions. From his perspective, his sister was a victim of repeated child exploitation from unknown men. She purposefully didn't tell him and Yuri wasn't able to do anything. Now a strange unknown man has apparently been married to his sister and she didn't tell him? It probably felt like the same thing was happening all over again. But this time he could do something about it.

That's why he did a complete 180 from trying to find Yor a boyfriend to trying to have Loid executed. Why any suggestion of them being intimate sets him off more than anything else. And why he is so focused on eliminating scumbags from their country.

I think this was hinted at in Yuri's very first appearance. We have never seen him behave as violently as he did in his introduction scene. Yuri started off his interrogation with Mr. Hayward pretty calm and jovial. But when Mr. Hayward says that he was "spending money on ladies" and claiming that Yuri should know what that's like as a man, Yuri explodes. He starts sadistically torturing Hayward while screaming about protecting his family. To him, this man was as bad as the people who took advantage of his sister.

Yuri's weird possessive obsession with Yor makes sense when you realize that as far as he knows she supported them both as children by going off with creepy old men and coming home bruised and bloody. He thinks she was forced to become a sex worker because he wasn't strong enough to protect her. That's why he gets so weird whenever he thinks about her and Loid getting intimate and why in the beginning he feels like he needs to control her love life by setting her up with guys (that he's fully vetted and can easily blackmail if needed). To him, Loid is just the latest in a long line of creeps that he can't protect his sister from.

Something I find extremely important to note is that Yuri made the intentional choice of taking his opponent down with non-lethal force.

This is in stark contrast to the other SSS officers, who are clearly shown and heard to be shooting at the slightest hint of resistance.

Once could argue that he didn't use a gun on the chance of shooting through the bus, but if he's close enough to grab his target then he's close enough to shoot him from a safe angle. I simply don't believe otherwise. And there's no way he isn't carrying one... it just hasn't been drawn.

He entered the fray not to take down targets, but to save children.

Of course the former is somewhat required to accomplish the latter, but I do think intent is important here.

Yuri's intent is to do good.

And he pays for that goodness.

In choosing to not draw his gun, it's Yuri who's shot instead. This is partially due to his tendency to charge through problems without regard to his own safety - but I also think it's a demonstration of how such kindness can be a weakness. One usually isn't rewarded for being the better person, especially in times of violence.

In a better world, this wouldn't be the case. That's the kind of world our protagonists are fighting for...

First, Yuri has never implied he wanted any sexual relations with his sister, the most he has said is he loves her and wants to marry her, and that isnt weird if you put in the context that Yuri and Yor are both children who suffered from the war. They didnt have parents to take care of them, that burden was put onto Yor as the older sibling. Yuri looks up to her for that and wants to prove to Yor that he can protect them too. Yuri doesnt understand the complexities of love because he was never taught it, he loves his sister and wants to protect her and has gotten his feelings confused for wanting to marry her. "but hes so weird around loid" IN HIS CHILDHOOD IT WAS ONLY HIM AND HIS SISTER HE IS GOING TO HAVE TROUBLE TRUSTING OTHERS.

They grew up in a war, A WAR. Thats going to have a mental toll on your character, Yuri has taken this by wanting to protect who he loves. Yuri doesnt have anyone outside of Yor he is going to be confused on what his love means.

Loid has mentioned how he is jealous of Yors and Yuris relationship because its so close, and they have eachother to rely on, something Loid didnt get as a child. Loid doesnt see Yuri as a threat to him and Yor.

You can see how he grows through the story and accepts that Yor has found another person to trust and rely on and he doesnt have to carry that burden alone. He has slowly been letting go and giving Loid a chance to be there for Yor and Loid has proven he can and will be there for her, and yuri is grateful and even takes up tutoring Anya, it doesnt work out but he still tries to be supportive to his sister.

In conclusion Yuri briar did not ruin the plot of spy x family with a weird incest trope, if you look at the dialoge and think deeper in on the story, you can observe Yuris growth as a person.

The reality is that kind of a move can make it difficult for him to trust that marriage. And more importantly, it goes against everything he is to question his sister. So he lashes out at the next best thing. Somewhere, he's struggling because he can't get angry at Yor for not considering him important enough for her wedding day.

I personally believe that till Yor realises this and clears the air, Yuri can't accept Loid. Loid can take a bullet and Yuri will still struggle. Because the truth is that he needs an apology from his sister, not Loid.

As for being in love, his love for his sister is more like that from a son than a brother. She raised him and now is old enough to get a new family. His step father came out of nowhere and he also has a step sibling now. He feels like he never got the opportunity to return his sister's hard work and love and sacrifices. He worked so hard to become capable and independent so he could take care of her. But before that could happen, she's already married. He's out of the picture. It's like he was never there.

His literal first lines are abour he wants her to find love and happiness with someone. The problems only start when she’s apparently MARRIED some random dude he’s never met before. Literally anyone would be suspicious and Yuri had the triple threat:

1: He likely believes Yor to have had to perform sex work out of desperation to support the two of them. And he would NEVER want to see her with someone she is not totally, absolutely, 100% in love with.

2: He’s an SSS member, and being a part of the anime Stasi can and will mess you up when it comes to trusting people and forming relationships, especially for someone with Yuri’s childhood.

I abandoned the gold coloring and switched it to silver instead, to better suit the colder, snowy theme I had in mind for this dress!

The head wings are also positioned differently. Rather than simply sticking out like they do in the normal route, they’re weighed down by the veil this time.

Other than those changes, everything else is pretty much the same as the design I made last year!
