my expectations for the murderbot tv adaptation were low, but holy shit that sucked. I'm not tagging this, but not because im trying to appease those "let people enjoy things" people who refuse to engage critically with media they enjoy, but because I just wanna pretend this whole adaptation did not happen so it doesn't fucking ruin the books for me. Changing the context of MB's governor module hacking and making this corny superhero naming sequence right after it is a horrible writing decision. This completely changes the nature of its character. This makes the name "murderbot" no longer seem like an act of self deprecation as a means of coping with the trauma it experienced after being forced to commit mass murder against its will and instead seem more like an edgy teens username that it picked because it sounds cool??? And yeah im still fucking pissed of about the casting. Glad we have another white guy autistic coded character, there are practically none of those. Also yeah GUY they did the thing where they called it a he. WHAT the fuck. Canonically in the book murderbot has no gender or sexual characteristics, which means no DICK no BALLS and no OVARIES it cannot produce hormones like testosterone to LOOK LIKE HOW IT LOOKS IN THE SHOW. They should've gotten an androgynous person for the role. I'm SHOCKED that fans are gushing over this show and letting them get away with white washing the racially ambiguity and erasing the transness of an explicitly queer character. STOOOP GLAZING THIS SHIT
