1. We're watching a bl, historical-yes bl-non the less. And pretty obviously set to be viewed through the lens of a romance series. Of course people are gonna care more for the pretty boys' tears than the revolution. It's not a documentary. I'm only stating this because I keep seeing comments about monarchy apologists and not caring for the people, but the show itself invests more on the main characters' feelings, otherwise we would have seen more of the people suffering (so the viewers would become emotionally invested) than just a mention of Phob's hardships, Chat's "shenanigans" (I hate that character, love the actor), and people sitting down and eating scraps (Tin's father doesn't count, he mostly doesn't want his son to be gay). We know why the change is important to one of the main characters though.

2. Phob probably wasn't aware how deep his and Tin's love was when he proposed the idea of getting info from him. The more he realised, the more reluctant he was.

3. Tin loves, understands and forgives Phob. But he is now more than ever bound to his family, because there is no way they can handle him being with a man responsible for their fall from power. And he does love his family. Not the royals, not the duty, his grandma, father and brother. He could choose to leave them when he thought they were safe, not when they don't know what's gonna happen.

4. Was the Thai society that progressive in the 30s that could accept homosexual relationships if there was no class divide, or is Phob being delusional? Cause I'm betting on him being delusional, sorry.
