After they had parted ways with Folred and Eruol, Bolg and his small party of Orcs made their way through the dark and twisted forest, taking care not to wander into a spiderâs nest, or cross paths with the Orcs of Dol Guldur once again. They had managed to put a good distance between themselves and the dark fortress, but there was still a long ways to go ; and while the Elf had given Thranga some extra time, Bolg wasnât entirely certain that she would have made it the whole wayâŚ
It was on the third day from their breakout that a Scout - one of Bolgâs own - happened upon them.
Bolg had asked where the rest of the Orcs had gone. The scout had answered, saying that they had made it out of the forest with Shel, and that he had come back to see what had become of the Chieftain⌠Since the scout was on Warg-back, Bolg had concluded that it would be best to send the rogue with him.
âTake her. Ride back to Gundabad with haste. She needs help,â he had told the scoutâŚ
Whether or not Thranga would survive, he would not knowâŚ
Three weeks had passed, before the Chieftain returned to Gundabad at last.
During the next couple of weeks, Shel fused over her mother and would scold her every time she tried to move from her bed. She would laugh at how her child was the one acting as the fussy parent. Really, Thranga could fault her for her worry, especially after all that happened. Eventually, she managed to convince her daughter she needed to move or else sheâs snap of boredom. Of course, Shel was by her side wherever they went in the encampment.
Thranga was surprised to discover how much the clan members adored Shel. They always smiled at her, brought her food they made, or comment on what a fine She-Orc she was. Apparently, when Shel first arrived with Bolgâs scouts, there was a illness going about that was affecting the young Orclings and the elder ones. It was thanks to Shelâs shamanistic healing that many lives were saved as a result.
Thatâs when the Orcs here started to admire her and the admiration just kept building as she continued to assist and conversed with interest with many of them. Thranga felt a small guilt they were not able to come back sooner, since Shel seemed to enjoy living amongst a Orc clan within the short time frame she had been here.
The ones who adored Shel the most were the eldest of Gundabad. They always made comments that she had the same eyes as âThe Pale Oneâ and âyou must have a part of his spirit in you.â One elder She-Orc grabbed Shelâs face and looked very closely at her before stating, âAh, Azog would be proud.â And then left Shel confused without explaining herself.
Thranga decided it was best to not reveal too much to Shel for now. It was true, Bolg was Shelâs father. However, the rogue had kept that secret all these years. If Shel knew her heritage and she was captured, they could easily use her as leverage against Bolg. That and she wasn't sure if they would ever see him again while they were on the run. She didn't want to get Shel's hopes up of meeting her father if fate did not allow it.
When the Chieftain returned, Thranga would speak with him first. He deserved to know.
