How To Eat And Drink Around D.C. This Week

DCist might be gone, but the city's food and drink scene marches on. Here are some picks to get you going through the first days of November.
An apple a day...
Local distillery Republic Restoratives is launching Chapmans apple brandy, the first in D.C. since prohibition. It’s named after the famed apple pioneer Johnny “Appleseed” Chapman. The spirit is made with a blend of four different apples from a farm in Pennsylvania. At 46% ABV, it’s an ideal fall-time sipper. Come by the Ivy City (1369 New York Ave. NW) location on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. for brandy, cocktails, Timber pizza, and doughnuts. Entry is free; rsvp online.
Uncork for charity
Wednesday, November 8 marks the 7th annual “Providence Uncorked” food and drinking event and competition to benefit Brookland’s Providence hospital. The party happens from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Long View Gallery (1234 9th St. NW). Tickets are $65 and include unlimited bites and sips from chefs including Alex McCoy (Alfie’s, Lucky Buns) and Zachary Ridenhour (Sixth Engine). Guests can then cast their vote for a winner.
Caribbean feels in Petworth
Visit EatsPlace (3607 Georgia Ave. NW) in Petworth today and Saturday for a taste of the islands courtesy of Littles, a Caribbean-style pop up. Chef Terry Tomlinson will serve dishes like spicy curry chicken, jerk chicken sliders, and vegan options from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. both days.
Go nose to tail with Zaytinya
Whole animal cooking goes to another level next week at Zaytina (701 9th St. NW). Head Chef Michael Costa is preparing a whole sheep dinner on Friday, Nov. 10. The $95 per-person dinner will include wine pairings and plenty of cheer. Reservations can be made online.
Chicken, in a cone
Spice up your late-night drunk eats with new offerings from The Chickery (1300 Connecticut Ave. NW). The restaurant has been working with chef Spike Mendelsohn to revamp its menu, and that includes a new waffle cone stuffed with crispy chicken and one of seven sauces. There’s also a hot fried chicken sandwich and one with battered cauliflower. Late-night eats will be served Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 9:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.

The Nachos Wrap at the new @chickenandwhiskey is serious hangry/drunk/hangover food.
