honest to god funniest bit of writing in Destiny is having Variks speak Like That and then the moment other eliksni with speaking roles get introduced they all just talk normal-style. like they don't even click between statements or anything or break up their sentences weirdly they all just talk regular. and then eventually one of them (i think Spider?) just drops the fact that Variks can 100% speak normally too and he's doing that shit on purpose
variks: variks greets you, yes? [insect-like chattering]
the spider: hey man how it's going
to make it even funnier if you look at lore tabs featuring misraaks before he got a good grasp of the terran tongue variks when he's feigning his broken speech isn't even speaking like other eliksni that don't speak terran that well
Dee Bradley Baker, Variks' voice actor, seems to be THE guy to go to when you need somebody to make weird noises. For example, he also voiced Perry from Phineas and Ferb, both Appa and Momo from Avatar: the Last Airbender, and Lion from Steven Universe
On top of that, he voiced Savathûn's worm, too! AKA the ONLY Destiny character I personally hate! Dude's got some serious range
