Astral's Adventure

Lucas would think on her question for a while before he would answer "If I remember right...3 days to get to the only town up that way. Maybe 4 if we take our time" he said looking to the sky for a second or two then continued walking

Astral waited for him to catch up so she could match his pace. “How do you feel?” She asked him sincerely.

Astral walked over to him to help him get to the bed. “Don’t worry I can see him all over you.” She said grabbing his arm ti support him. “And I just cleaned the floors.” She pouted.

As Astral walked to their meeting place, she couldn’t help but feel that something was amiss. In fact, this feeling had lingered ever since that night Lucas came home severely injured. She saw Lucas by the tree so she smiled to greet him.

Seeing Astral, Lucas would nod returning the smile with a grin “Thank you for coming to see me. I wanted to tell you that I was going to leave town” He began with a sad smile on his features

Astral’s face dropped. Leaving? She thought along with a hundred questions in her head. She tilted her head and furrowed her eyebrows in concern. She pursed her lips trying to formulate any response. “Oh, I see.” Was the only thing she managed to respond.

He nodded “Yes I felt it best to tell you, seeing as we have been friends for years. I didn’t feel right just leaving without telling you since I may never see you again” He continued grabbing his left arm, the one that now had a scar from that night, “I am very sorry. The voices are just too strong and I fear they might somehow make me hurt you for not listening.”

Astral pursed her lips trying to process everything he had said. She couldn’t ask him to stay any longer in this town, but she also didn’t want him to leave. “Where will you go?” She asked in a sad tone.

He shrugged "I don't know. The voices have been talking about 'A power to stop the gods', not sure what that means but it's a start" he says moving to hug her "I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry but it will be okay. I will return. That's a promise, one day I will be back"

Astral went into his embrace. “Can I not go with you?” She asked him. He had been her companion for so long. The town had been quiet for a long while. “I want to go with you.” She tightened her embraced, trying to stop her tears from falling.

She couldn't see it due to how close they were but Lucas had a smile "I don't tell you what to do. If you want to come that badly, I wouldn't mind the company I have a feeling that whatever is going on will be quite a long journey for me" he replied returning the tightened embrace before letting go "What are your parents going to think?

Astral lowered her head. She didn’t him to see her teary eyes, but his question brought her back to reality. She felt guilt being their only daughter, but she knew that she would try to find Lucas eventually even if her parents stopped her. She looked up at him. “I’ll take care of them.” She gave him a grin. “You won’t get rid of me that easily.”

Lucas nodded at this, his old self shining through for the first time in a while as he smiled "Okay then. I'll come get you tomorrow afternoon. Pack a bag"

Lucas would be at her place the next day as promised. With a grin on his face and a single bag on his back he would look at Astral's bags then to the girl herself "Okay ya ready? We'll be heading to the town up north first so we need to make sure to have extra blankets" he said patting the bag he had "brought a new tent too just for the trip"

Astral did not notice Lucas had arrived and was startled. She smiled as he told her the plan for their journey. She nodded when he finished. “I guess this is it.” She said getting up to pick up her bags. “Seeing you like this tells me I’m making the right choice.”

Lucas nodded back at her "I would hope you're making the right choice, Astral. Now come on we have a long wake ahead of us" he replied with a soft smile on his face before turning to leave both her room and her house

Astral followed him out the house. As they walked further, she turned back one last yime before continuing behind Lucas. “How long will it take us to get there?”

She looked up at the man in front of her. “I’m just looking for a place for the night. I’ll be out of your hair in the morning.” She tilts her head and observes the room where he had already settled down. “Quite a place you got.” she chuckled, trying to lighten the situation. By the looks of things outside, this was the closest she could get to.

Lucas narrowed his eyes at her. He’d see a trick like this once before, A girl would try to soften up a group of people for her buddies to come in and kill the group and steal their things but he would fall for these “Okay then girlly, if you are unamred you wouldn’t mind stripping off your gear to prove it” Lucas replied never taking her eyes off her while also staying away from the windows in the room “Or you can try to convince me you’re alone just as the sun sets so I feel bad and let you stay”

Astral scoffed and rolled her eyes, but slowly proceeded to put her backpack in front of her and removed the dagger in her pocket and put it on the floor. She observed the man in front of her and evaluated the worst possible outcome. “There’s no convincing if you already decided that I’m not alone.” She answered back. Once she finished she looked at him and tilted her head. “Is that all?”

Lucas would watch her closely when the items were placed on the floor, making note she didn’t seem to give any kind of signal. The male would relax slightly and move to an oppsite corner of the girl “Okay fine I’ll believe you just stay in that corner and I’ll stay here” He says motioning to the area he was sitting then towards the other side of the room from him “Just be sure to stay quiet the Zeds can get very close when you’re not looking”

“Don’t worry about me. Ill be out of your hair in the morning.” She answered back as she picked her things from from the floor. She made her way towards the corner. As she settled down, without looking, she asked, “So what’s your story?”

Lucas sighed as she spoke, well at least she didn't have a gun that would have been worse. "Long story short, I'm trying to get to that boat the radio says is at NYC's docks. It's a long shot or maybe just one really huge trap but curiosity is killing me faster than the Zeds" he explained focusing on her to gauge her reaction

Astral nodded, “So that makes two of us.” She mumbled to herself. She sat down and looked at him, “That’s where I’m headed too. I caught a transmission one night and a few whispers from the shelters about the ship.” She looked down and fidgeted with her nails. “Even if it’s a trap, I have nothing to lose besides choosing how I die.” She chuckled.

Astral gave him a small smile and shrugged. “I’ve had worse encounters. Astral Haddock.” It wouldn’t be too bad to have company on the way there, she thought. She nodded at his offer. “Sounds good to me. Then I’m afraid I’ll have to take my word back on leaving in the morning.”

Lucas nods with a kind smile which soften his normally hard face "Fair enough I have too much food for just me anyways. You know if things don't go as planned" he replied

Astral chuckled, loosening up a bit. It had been awhile since she had an actual conversation with someone. “We’ll make it to whatever that place is. I don’t plan on dying at the hands of these undead.” She sighed. She thought about how she couldn’t do anything to save her parents. Living is the least she could do for them.

Lucas couldn't help but smile more as his new companion chuckled, it was a breath of fresh air to someone as lonely as he felt. The moment would bring up old memories, both good and bad, hopefully things would go differently this time with his new traveling companion "Anyways let's get some sleep. Night Astral"

“Good night, Lucas. I’ll keep watch for a bit.” Astral smiled softly, leaning her back against the wall. The truth is, ever since hell broke loose, she could never get a wink of sleep. It was always riddled with nightmares. “And don’t worry, I’m not running away with your stuff.” Astral added.”

“Don’t worry. I’m not a thief.” She answered back calmly, as she raised her hands high enough to be seen unarmed, but still close enough. She looked up at the man in front of her. “I’m just looking for a place for the night. I’ll be out of your hair in the morning.” She tilts her head and observes the room where he had already settled down. “Quite a place you got.” she chuckled, trying to lighten the situation. By the looks of things outside, this was the closest she could get to.

Lucas narrowed his eyes at her. He’d see a trick like this once before, A girl would try to soften up a group of people for her buddies to come in and kill the group and steal their things but he would fall for these “Okay then girlly, if you are unamred you wouldn’t mind stripping off your gear to prove it” Lucas replied never taking her eyes off her while also staying away from the windows in the room “Or you can try to convince me you’re alone just as the sun sets so I feel bad and let you stay”

Astral scoffed and rolled her eyes, but slowly proceeded to put her backpack in front of her and removed the dagger in her pocket and put it on the floor. She observed the man in front of her and evaluated the worst possible outcome. “There’s no convincing if you already decided that I’m not alone.” She answered back. Once she finished she looked at him and tilted her head. “Is that all?”

Lucas would watch her closely when the items were placed on the floor, making note she didn’t seem to give any kind of signal. The male would relax slightly and move to an oppsite corner of the girl “Okay fine I’ll believe you just stay in that corner and I’ll stay here” He says motioning to the area he was sitting then towards the other side of the room from him “Just be sure to stay quiet the Zeds can get very close when you’re not looking”

“Don’t worry about me. Ill be out of your hair in the morning.” She answered back as she picked her things from from the floor. She made her way towards the corner. As she settled down, without looking, she asked, “So what’s your story?”

Lucas sighed as she spoke, well at least she didn't have a gun that would have been worse. "Long story short, I'm trying to get to that boat the radio says is at NYC's docks. It's a long shot or maybe just one really huge trap but curiosity is killing me faster than the Zeds" he explained focusing on her to gauge her reaction

Astral nodded, “So that makes two of us.” She mumbled to herself. She sat down and looked at him, “That’s where I’m headed too. I caught a transmission one night and a few whispers from the shelters about the ship.” She looked down and fidgeted with her nails. “Even if it’s a trap, I have nothing to lose besides choosing how I die.” She chuckled.

Astral gave him a small smile and shrugged. “I’ve had worse encounters. Astral Haddock.” It wouldn’t be too bad to have company on the way there, she thought. She nodded at his offer. “Sounds good to me. Then I’m afraid I’ll have to take my word back on leaving in the morning.”
