Preamble: forgive me my typos, writing this from my mobile at the office after not enough sleep and a 20 hour day of too many things yesterday 😅

Second RE: CTM51: I wish I had a better reply for you, because I am really excited to try and get this chapter in particular out, however I'm not sure what to give for a time frame. The Saturday portion of the weekend that encompasses this chapter is going to be dedicated to the setup and play out of the surprise party the party elders and youngers are planning for Chrissy. The Sunday date portion of it will encompass Karen/Melissa's (KARESS, btw won the poll 😆) coffee talk scene(s?). For the Saturday scenes in particular I sat down and thought about what character combos haven't had a lot of pair up time with the intention of smashing them together for a large amount of small (for me?) length vignette scenes together chunked by morning start-the-day scenes, afternoon party planning/setup montages and keeping Chrissy distracted and nonethewiser, and night time party shenanigans and whatnots. All of which will move and setup specific later plot things.
The morning portion of those (7 scenes) are drafted so far. By my count afternoon has...10 scenes, and party/nighttime has 15. Coffee Talk with Karen/Melissa will come after that 👀. So I'm about 25% drafted. I do have time slated this weekend to hopefully chip away at some of the hit points on the remaining scenes, so it'll depend on how sleep deprived and over caffeinated I am how much of it I can plow through!
A combo of work brutality and a mixture of (more fun than work brutality at least) life events, insane heat spikes, Mercury being in the retrogrsde microwave and the general heat death of the universe have delayed my ability to have time to sit down and write out the scenes over the last about 3 weeks, rather unfortunately
Lastly: Small consolation prize, since the 12 KOBK chapters had already been written/completed before I started posting that atory, I still have a new chapter of that to post this week. So chapter 10 of KOBK will go up either tonight or tomorrow morning.

I just read your response to my last Anonymous Ask and the book is 1984 (I swear I'll finish it I'm almost there yes I know its a classic but its making me want to crawl out of my skin) and you are absolutely incredible for how much detail you put into this. I am so grateful for it and I too enjoyed the different relationships between characters especially with the way you've now written them. That conversation between Nancy/Karen literally touched my soul in season 3 and the way you've expanded upon their relationship even with the little details is absolutely incredible writing. I too am a huge music nerd and I really appreciate the way you've taken that plot line and built from it, in a way I truly believe music is a lifeline for people, maybe not in a dark wizards (then again you never know) but it truly is an incredibly powerful thing and I love the way you've included it into the story. I'll stop my rambling but I did just want to say a huge thank you for this incredible story : )

That Karen/Nancy scene in S3 makes me tear up every time. It, in turn, made me outright gasp and let out a "GURL, BITE YOUR TONGUE WTF!" during a specific scene in the One Way or Another book (being vague since I never know who's read what! 😅). That aside, I really just wanted each of them to have at least one parent who had some level of understanding and who was actively trying to meet them somewhere for a relationship. I hadn't purposefully intended it to be their mothers in both their cases, but we obviously knew it wouldn't be Ted for Nancy. Robin/Melissa just shaped out how it did in the structural building, so here we are!
Obligatory comment: Karen and Melissa should leave their husbands and start a matriarchal commune. I said what I said and I meant it.

Unfortunately I didn't see this until I got to work, so I only have a couple off hand I can add here now. I don't think I ever definitively identified the bottom 3 fully. I have a list of best guesses. Ultimately in the chapter where that scene happens I went with what I thought fit Nancy for the time and some future plot things (based on posters and other context clue plus her general arc) so I settled on Jennifer Rush (the top tape, will show you in a moment), The Beatles (tied in to the comments later about Karen singing Beatles songs to her, so they're sentimental to Nancy), Blondie (she has their poster/calendar in her room) and The Cars (part of me was thinking of a few specific songs when I picked this one but could easily swap for The Bangles or Madonna). I wanted the second or last one badly to be a Eurythmics one in reality because I feel like Nancy would be very into them/Annie Lennox too (We Two Are One could possibly fit one of them potentially even, if one squints just right lol)
I also figured out some of fhe books that were under the tapes/on other shelves. I can send you updates when I am home BUT:

Season 4 kicked this all off back in June/July 2022. When it dropped I couldn't stop catching every little nuance between Robin and Nancy. There were so many long-winded essays on so many little things in my chat with an overseas friend. I was also obsessed with analyzing screenshots of the cassette tapes on Nancy's nightstand, so between July 2 and 12th-ish I kept floating headcannon ideas for how I would change things to retain eddie, chrissy and keep Max alive while also finding a way to Ronance Endgame.
If it wasn't obvious, I am a huge music stan in general. So I have always gravitated toward the use of music throughout the series as more than just nostalgia (and it has always thrown me off since episode 1 whenever they went asynchronous with songs because I am a goddamn nerd). So I always wanted to entangled all the music ties into it, especially with the music-as-a-lifeline plotlines woven through S4. I agonized for a really...really, ridiculously long time about where to start. I couldn't bring myself to just start with a handwave summary of what happened (though I fully support anyone that does so, because it means you get to the fun sooner!). Originally I was plotting out how to tweak/change S4 scenes to save Chrissy, Eddie and Max and close the loop on Vecna/Henry.
Long story...longer? I spent the better part of July 2022 through August 2025 combing through the released books, and doing repeated rewatches to take notes on things I wanted to keep/adjust/adapt and then finally picked starting off in the aftermath of Season 3 finale because a bunch of rewatches I kept lingering on Robin comforting Max on the gourney in the parking lot. I wanted to layout as many roots to the cosmic family tree as possible between Robin/Max, Robin/Nancy, and fix some of the parental relationships between Robin and at least Melissa, while also wanting to expand on Nancy/Karen's relationship (because I really, really, really love the scene between them in the kitchen in S3 after Nancy/Jonathans's fight.
It took so long to get through all the nitty gritty details, and I wanted a huge buffer. I think it was Halloween when I posted the first chapter, and that was only after I had finished I think up through Chapter 20. And we were closing in on Season 5 dropping, so I tried to slow-roll posting chapters and failed. I was actively writing from ch21 onward at that point too.
I have specific milestones and timeline plots mapped out for them up through 1989, at least, roughly, at the moment. So...
I didn't set out for it to necessarily be this long, but I also did nothing to stop it?? I'm just looking to take them through the journey that popped into my head and has refused to fully let go.
I could probably ramble forever on so many little intricacies and notes I have for CTM, honestly. 🫣😅💚🖖
i’m actually almost at chapter 40! (on chapter 31 actually) as i read through over half the fic yesterday, (i stayed up until 6 a.m. my time zone wise because i have a couple days off work and what better way to spend that time ?) it’s so good! you’re writing is so amazing you have me actually loving the RoVickie portion of the fic as well 😭

Yes! Ronance has happened in story already! It's official at ch40.
The S3/S4 changes/rewrites continue through about ch19 into ch20. After that the story is very much my sandbox! There is a subset of chapters featuring a short/temporary Rovickie ship while Nancy is figuring herself/some things out in parallel. 😉

Gosh this feels like a loaded question if only because I imagine everyone writes in their own way! 😅
I guess my biggest advice would be to just dive on in and start writing. Whatever the thought/prompt/scene is that you have in your head that is the thing that's making you want to possibly start a Ronance fic, start writing that thing how you think it would go and run away with it.
You can always take multiple runs at it. You can build backstory from there then circle back. Or not if you don't want. You can begin the bones of a framework for the before and/or after. Or you could just drop a little oneshot to dip your toes in and maybe people's responses/reactions/questions, etc might lead to expanding it or making a series, or just lead to other prompts? The possibilities are endless, truly!
Most important: have fun playing in the sandbox, friendo! 💚🫶
