love that the best gary (the only gary to survive, the gary we follow in the story) is actually the worst gary (the biggest screw up, the one who suffered the most failures and losses in life, i mean the reason he’s the one to survive is because he was the only one who wasn’t the hero to sacrifice himself). usually in this trope of multiple versions of the same character, you follow the “best” version and root for them to be the “ultimate” one. but nope gary final space is the worst gary and that makes him endearing and worth rooting for for how hard he tries.
