I am privileged to say that in the past 3 presidential elections, I have been able to and proudly have voted for a minority and a woman. I know that it has taken America hundreds of years to get to this point of equality and inclusion, and I hope that we never take any steps back. Being a first generation Vietnamese American and a daughter of parents who risked their lives to escape communism, I vow to always practice my right to vote in a nation that celebrates democracy. As a woman of color who is educated and altruistic, I promise to always fight for equality and progression because if I don't, then I can't expect others to fight for me or respect my presence. And as a teacher in the very community that I grew up in, I will always educate my students that their voices matter and that through hard work, perseverance, and ingenuity, everything is possible. Here's to the future of America, here's to my future, this is our future.
