the two could not be anymore different.

elektra is tragedy personified –– every where she walks, she brings with her destruction, chaos, havoc.

karen is justice –– seeking to make people’s lives better by bringing forward the truth.

and unlike her, karen has always walked away from near death situations unscathed. as if death is too scared of touching the woman and pulling her into the deepest depths of the styx while she has no problem drowning elektra, no matter how many times she reaches for the surface.

should she feel lucky that she has managed to escape the claws of death? that she has conquered it and lived to see the tale? no, she feels it’s unfortunate, because she feels as though parts of her die too whenever she takes her supposed last breath.

she knows where this conversation is going –– it’s leading towards a lecture about how easy it is to stop whatever it is she’s doing. the truth is, it’s difficult. this is not something she can simply walk away from. frankly, she doesn’t even want to leave. this is the path she has chosen and she’s more than ready to face the consequences because she has been preparing for this her whole life. this is the only thing she knows she is good for.

“is this the part where you convince me the same thing?” she asks, entertaining the possibility that, no, the girl is not trying to reprimand her.

    → HIS LAUGHTER SPILLS OUT SLOWLY, & HAROLD ROLLS HIS EYES. The faint memories of their childhood together begin to return as they discuss it more, & it’s something he can appreciate. There are so few GOOD occurrences that he can remember having as a boy, & to know what they actually were is somewhat THERAPEUTIC, especially when sharing it with an old friend; one still CLOSE to him. Elektra shares a light with him that not many other people do- she knows him, has for a LONG TIME, & he doesn’t intend on letting that change.

    However, he is beginning to hope that whatever evidence she has of his childhood idiocy will find itself displaced.

          – “ GOD. HEY, AT LEAST I MADE A REALLY PRETTY PRINCESS. YOU LOOKED           KINDA BAD IN BLUE HAIR, NO OFFENSE. AM I ALLOWED TO SAY THAT NOW ?           YEAH, I THINK SO. ” –  

if only her life has been this easy –– the fear over the potential harm a picture of an embarrassing past being her only concern. life do get more complicated  ( although, chances are, not as complicated as hers )  as you grow older. however, it feels calming to take a step back, to allow herself rest, to shut her min and forget all the matters of the world for even just a fleeting moment.

she’s thankful to harry for being someone she can turn to if she ever needs to find solace ... without telling anyone what it is that is bothering her. no questions asked. because just like herself, he too have his own demons that he’d rather run away from.

what’s better than to run away together?

consider: the blood that has been shed, the wounds that takes too long to heal, the bruises that taints her skin –– that’s the only life she has known. a normal life is only a fantasy, a luxury she couldn’t afford. at least, she was lucky that she got a taste of such pipe dream with her adoptive family. even then, they still had to be taken away. it’s as if this cycle of violence has an iron grip on her and she’s never to escape.

so she has to choice but to go along with it.

“i don’t see the point of wallowing in the past.” you can’t change it anyway. “i suggest you do the same.”

there’s a SCOFF as he slowly lowers his weaponry. he still keeps his iron grip onto the piece, but he eyes the other up and down. so. she’s why there’s more bodies here, huh? and upon hearing the … somewhat friendly banter, there’s an assumption she’s not coming for him next. ❛ ever heard of makin’ your dreams come true? ❜ eyes narrow. ❛ well, here i am. ❜

             ELEKTRA NATCHIOS WAS A DEADLY FORCE. One that Vanessa had absolutely no trouble believing in, for she had seen her beautiful strikes and her deadly blows once or twice, over and over again. She’s like a cheetah, quick and graceful, there was a lot to admire about her. A lovely woman in her own right, she had been a fine companion and a good alternative to Wilson’s hordes of bodyguards around her. While she knows he did it out of love– it could be suffocating. 

            THIS WAS DIFFERENT– for Elektra was fine, if not better company than most. Respectful, quiet and reflective, she was a perfect match for Vanessa, where Elektra exuded a quiet fire, Vanessa shone in a raging ice. And how beautiful Greece had been to come back to– plot her revenge, one she could almost taste within reach of her rose lips. 

               THE BOOTS THE WARRIOR WORE CLICKED AGAINST THE FLOOR. The sound of lethal woman joining was one of beauty, how Olympus roars at the thought of Persephone and Athena joining forces; spring, death and war. “What do you know about the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen?” 

it wasn’t the slightest bit surprising for elektra to find the queen of the crime underworld asking such a question. no matter how stoic or graceful  ( or even calming )  the lady appears, underneath that facade is a dangerous simmer of wrath waiting to be unleashed upon only one person who had ruined the lives of her and her beloved.

what have you done, matthew? your self-righteous cause to defeat the root of evil has dragged you into something beyond your control.

she sure hoped that this war wouldn’t impact her current standing; she wouldn’t want to pick sides because she knew he’d try his best to pull her into his.

she doesn’t want that. she doesn’t need that.

            Eyes      GLARE      at her, the two holes that lead into the nothingness that sat inside him.      ‘      Shut the fuck up…      Aren’t      YOU      supposed to be the jealous one cause you worked with them for a bit or s’mthing      ?  ?  ?      ‘      Snorts and lets eyes rolls.      ‘      Apparently me KILLING the bullshitis too much for them…      ‘

she gives him an eye roll of her own, not even bothering to mask it. “i barely call that helping them ... ever heard of ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’, frank? my relationship with them is mostly that.” and why would she ever be affiliated with the people who would only preach and lecture her about the occupation she has picked up? “i only needed them to defeat the hand, but even then they told me i cannot murder anyone. murder is too much for them, as if a person doesn’t die every day.”

16 –– getting them something they need before they ask for it.

there are many rules on how the two operate.

1. they must never use their real names. ‘elektra’ or ‘james’ are only reserved when they are in the privacy of their rundown motel rooms.2. assassinations must be quick and clean. leave no trace at the scene of the crime.3. no time for small talks. they’re on a mission, not to make friends.4. they are to never spend more than two days at the same place. hydra or the hand will be able to locate them and kill them.

the fourth one should be the hardest rule to keep up with. they have to move between cities quickly, living out of a small backpack that contains nothing but their bare essentials. however, it’s one of the easiest rules for both to abide to because they are already used to this lifestyle. as if their bodies are operating on their own twisted clocks, they’ll get up earlier on their second days to prepare themselves to move, never to look back at the city or what they have done there.

unfortunately, there is no time for them to even be able to sit down and think or reflect on their time there. this is why both of them lack remorse. they don’t even have the time to mourn.

( she’s pretty sure that if she ever gets killed in the job, james would then just move on as if nothing happens–– and actually, vice versa. )

“wake up, james,” she says, as she shakes his body and tosses him a new sweater. “we have to move soon. get dressed and let’s go. your food is on the table.”

16 –– getting them something they need before they ask for it.

elektra hates asking for help.

but desperate times call for desperate measures.

the john doe she brought to claire’s apartment is one of the lowly goons of the maggias. what makes this particular goons special, though, is that he has come in contact with the leader of one of the family’s drug ring. elektra needs the information, because otherwise she can’t get to her target –– let alone kill him.

however, it looks like someone got to ‘mr. doe’ sooner than elektra, leaving him bloodied and battered.

“i’m sorry about this, ms. temple,” elektra says nonchalantly. “but you’re a gifted nurse. i’d sew him up myself, but even this is too much for me.” she grabs the first aid kit that is sitting on one of the tables and presents it to claire. “i need your help.”

It’s why he’s so glad Elektra is here- at least to take his mind off things.

a boring life. elektra absolutely gets how one would hate it even if it has its own share of advantages. in fact, god knows how much she yearns for some excitement in her life. attending classes, doing assignments, meeting people –– all of this feels like such a routine that she feels as if she’s nothing but a robot. she feels it in her bones that she is meant for something more. she knows that. however, she has learnt that perhaps, for the best, it’s better to keep a life such as this. as low profile as being an ambassador’s daughter can be.

    → AN EYE ROLL IS WARRANTED HERE. PETER SIGHS AUDIBLY & LOOKS to the sky, praying to some unseen God for his mercy. If Elektra thinks he’s dressed badly, he probably is, but that’s not NEWS. Peter doesn’t feel especially inclined to fix the fashion disaster that constitutes his life, because he’s COMFORTABLE. But, he’s already in the car now, which means there’s no BACKING OUT, & he’s going to die at this mall.

    He squints over at her as she eyes his clothes, feeling vaguely uncomfortable, but he’s been around her OFTEN ENOUGH that it barely matters anymore. He does up his seat belt & sighs again, intending to make his displeasure very OBVIOUSLY KNOWN. His arms fold over his chest in irritation & he turns his gaze out to the road as she pulls out from the curb & begins driving. He won’t admit it, but Peter is a little AFRAID as to what stores she’s going to force him into.

          – “ YOU’D BETTER GET ME COFFEE OR I’LL DITCH AND WALK HOME. ” –

“don’t tell me you’re going to jump out of a moving car,” she scoffs. “it’ll be fun to see, but all that to escape a little bit of shopping? there are much worse things to be afraid of, peter, like your boss. is he still so hung up over spider-man?” she shakes her head before focusing herself on driving towards the nearest starbucks to hold up her end of the bargain.

she’s aware of how he values simplicity. it’s never her intention to bring her to one of those fancy high end brands that sells clothes too bold for him  ( but are never too bold for her ). she knows too that he’d want something easy to maintain, something that can easily be washed by throwing them into the laundry machine and dryer.
