SHE          THINKS     :          she's          still          mad          at          him          .               still          empty          for          him          .               looks          at          him          &&          hears          words          bouncing          off          of          hospital          walls          echoing          in          her          skull               /               ringing          in          her          ears          .               feels          cold          linoleum          bringing          chill          to          the          soles          of          bare          feet          even          now          .               even          through          heels          &&          stockings          ,          both          .               REMINDING          HER          .               plaguing          her          .               a          ghost          .               even          now          .               (          WONDERS     :          if          she          closes          her          eyes          for          a          moment          ,          if          he'll          be          gone          by          the          time          lashes          flutter          open          again          .               WONDERS     :          if          he's          the          ghost          .               if          she          is          .               if          ,          maybe          ,     they          both          are          or          just          one          or          the          other          &&          maybe          that's          why          they          keep          ending          up          like          this          .               close          enough          to          touch          but          never          doing          so          .               )    

SHE          THINKS     :          she's          glad          that          he's          okay          .               glad          that          he's          alive          .               that          he          made          it          out          .               that          he's          still          free          &&          breathing          &&          safe          .               but          ,          he's          good          at          that     :          SHE          THINKS          .               doesn't          think          there's          anything          capable          of          keeping          him          down               /               locking          him          up               /               pulling          him          away          from          life          ,          itself          .               he     :          eternal          .               he     :          reborn          .               HE     :          LAZARUS          .               shoot          him          &&          he'll          simply          get          back          up          .               someone          like          her               (          someone          desperate          &&          determined          &&          near          constantly          grasping          at          straws          no          matter          how          she          might          appear          )               admires          his          ability          to          rise          from          ashes          ,          splattered          in          the          blood          of          his          enemies          .               as          if          nothing          harms          him          .               (          SHE          THINKS     :          she's          been          harmed          enough          .               )    

SHE          DOES          NOT          WONDER     :          how          he          found          her          place          .               her          new          place          ,          the          apartment          where          she          once          resided          likely          occupied          by          someone          else          now          ,          or          else          simply          standing          empty          .               a          testament          to          her          change          .               to          her          growth          .               to          the          things          that          had          transpired          since          he          was          last          here          in          the          city          as          opposed          to          wherever          it          was          he          had          laid          his          head          between          this          year          &&          the          last          .               there's          several          people          ,          dotted          around          the          city          ,          holding          that          knowledge          &&          ,          so          ,          karen          page          does          not          spare          that          a          thought          .               instead          ,          there          are          other          things          knocking          around          in          her          head          ,          things          that          ,          she          thinks          ,          take          precedent          .               this          is          not          like          the          first          time          he          appeared          at          her          place          ,          when          she          leveled          her          gun          at          him          &&          thought          he          might          be          there          to          kill          her          ,          too          .
