Love lifts us up where we belong

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.

I wanna get drunk and kiss a lot and not think for a while

I want someone to fight for me. Just once, I want someone to be afraid of losing me, not just say that they don’t want to lose me. I want them to mean it. I want them to genuinely be afraid to lose me. You have those people that just say they never want to lose you, but then one day they just decide to leave. I want someone to fight for me. When I’m about to leave, they pull me back. Tell me what they love about me. Tell me how much they love me. Tell me what I mean to them. Show me how much they don’t want to lose me. Words mean nothing. I want them to prove to me everything that they’ll ever say to me. You say you love me, well show me that you do. You say you care about me, prove it. You say you don’t want to lose me, well show me.

Life is a test. I’m failing.

I never want to be the one who patiently glues the fragments together to convince herself that the heart is as good as new. The heart wears and it tears, and no magic in the world can reverse the tests endured. I want to remember that love.

He looks at her like he just realized what love is.

At first I was dying to finish highschool and start college. Then I was dying to finish college and start work. Then I was dying to get married and have children. Then I was dying for my children to grow old enough so I could return to work. Then I was dying to retire. Then suddenly I was actually dying, and I realized I forget to live .

The saddest thing about our hearts is that they often find homes, in the hearts they are not welcomed in.
