All of my characters are more confident than I am in myself, and Anabel is no exception. Â If I had to pick out some choice words for her they might include bravery, courage, honor, justice, judgement, trust, truth, optimism--you know, all those heavy cliches. Â As much as I like her cool pokespe representation (and man do I like cool Anabel) think if I'd strayed a bit more from it I would have had more fun RPing her. Â The reason I hate her so much is because I can never think of what to do as her; currently I see her as the kind of character who peacefully minds her own business while watching others and appears only when a strong voice or leader or whatever is really needed. Â She's not a mischief maker like Nejiki or a boisterous oaf like Palmer or even a mysterious, borderline creepy psychic who has a laugh that goes "fufufufufu" like she is in the games. Â She's very plain.
Things she is touchy about include:
gender and inherent gender differences
and surprisingly but possibly most of all, being taken advantage of
Elaborating on that last point, she really prefers to be dominant and in control; I take that from the time she was mind controlled in the manga. Â Even though it's another universe, it seems like that kind of thing is exactly what she works to avoid, what with her Tower Tycoon title and status as head of the Hoenn Frontier. Â However, this does not mean that she has a problem with authority; she respects her elders for the most part, has a sense of honor, and will always play by the rules (or at least try to). Â Thus, when faced with people who do not legally hold a position above her, she turns somewhat competitive or bitter if they intend to dominate her either physically or mentally. Â Still, she's a critical thinker with decisions, and on the off-chance she can't come up with one on her own, she'll take the next logical step and ask one of her superiors (in this case, a teacher). Â This is conditional; the teacher she asks has to be someone she legitimately respects.
I'm sure a part of her thinks that she's got a natural talent for things like battling; she was very cocky as a child and could be very cocky now, but she's developed a sense of humility and empathy that stops her from making uppity comments with every word. Â Rather, she is amused by and may even genuinely enjoy the company of more boisterous folk, as can be seen with the way her colleagues tend to act.
The way I play her, it may not seem like it, but she really is serious.  Sincere with her words and serious... I just like to joke around a lot and can't pull off serious well.  When she starts making jokes it'll be the subtle kind that you get with the raise of an eyebrow--and her sense of humor is probably really weird.  When the situation is tense, then she'll abhor joking around and keep a serious face, but otherwise she really is open to it.
yeah I don't know that got me nowhere she's hardest character I've ever had to work with scrEW HER
