This was the view directly behind where I was when I took the previous shot at Alstrom Point. Mike, our guide from @lakepowelladventure , took us to this point of land that straddles both views. It was pretty incredible (and a little dizzying) to be surrounded by such beauty laid out before us on both sides. I finally got to go up in a hot air balloon!!! I get SO excited when I see them from the ground, so I was beyond giddy to be riding in one. Fortunately we had a companion balloon riding along with us, staying close, but also far enough away for some fun photos. This one is pretty simple, but hot air balloons are so delightfully uncomplicated in how they make me feel, so I thought it was appropriate. Really, I don’t know what it is about them, but they just make me happy. So, needless to say, I was ecstatic to be up there with some great friends, and I can’t wait to do it again! I have tons of photos from my 2016 #Paris trip that I still haven’t edited or shared. The recent tragedy at Notre Dame has reminded me to look through those photos. The damage to Notre Dame is a tragedy for France and for many of us who have visited or had hoped to visit this world treasure. It's a relief to hear that not all was lost in the fire, but I hope that this spire can be rebuilt to its former glory. The #CypressTreeTunnel has been on my list for some time now, so when I realized it was only 1.5 hours away from San Francisco, I knew I had to go 🏃‍♀️! I was fortunate to have a friend who was willing to get up before dawn, take the BART from the airport into town, and run around with me on his last day visiting the area. That morning we decided to shoot the Golden Gate Bridge (see previous post) in the light I had originally intended for this spot. But because of that last minute decision, I came away with 2 photos that I’m pretty happy with. I love the Space Needle because it is a beautiful icon of Seattle’s past, present, and future. Finally got a chance to see some of the incredible #waterfalls around the Columbia River Gorge. This one I was pretty excited to see. I found a trail that was not closed off, but it was super sketchy. Here’s my tip if you’re thinking about risking your life to get ”the shot”... don’t be dumb! I saw a couple of people down there who must be dumb, because either they snuck down past the barriers or they continued on the trail I found which was treacherous that morning. Slippery rocks and roots everywhere! I don’t advocate for breaking the rules which were likely made because someone was being dumb and got hurt, or because the place needs a chance to recover so people CAN go down there some day. So, this is my shot of #panthercreekfalls . Now back to our regularly scheduled (somewhat) landscape posts. This was the best part of my #motorglider flight over the #ColumbiaRiver last week. Since you guys liked the hummingbird video yesterday, I thought I’d share one of my photos today. This guy kept going back to the same spot to keep an eye on “his” feeder from a distance. He flashed his colors for me here and then took off before I could blink. Something very different on this super snowy day, which we don’t see very often around here. The Anna’s Hummingbirds who winter here were out with an appetite to get them through this cold spell. I saw 6 at one point! They were pretty good at sharing most of the time. Turn up the sound on this one!
