What do I do on weekends?
It’s 8:36 pm in the clock now and almost of the people got their ass out of here in the office. Me, being the unhurried girl myself, clocked in at twelve noon so I have to be here until nine just to get a total of nine hours of work. Today’s Friday but I got no plans. I was deployed to a new project just two days ago. Me and my newly-met colleague decided to get some snacks at Wendy’s earlier. We’ve begin asking questions to each other then suddenly she uttered out, “What do you do on weekends?” As I took a sip on my iced tea, I smiled and answered, “Nothing. I just do my laundry. Cook food. I clean my apartment. You know, just the same things a mother would usually do on a daily basis. But I only have the chance to do them on weekends as I don’t have the energy and time to do them on weekdays. So there. And oh, I clean my aquarium too!” She then said, “Okay. Maybe they’re not really like 'mother things'. Just the 'tita thingsl.” I half agreed and we both laughed. I just realized I’ve been living in my own rental apartment for about one year now (I lived dorm style for eight long years) and I am very grateful that my mom taught me so well about the little things in life. I am just thankful that I know how to do some household chores and how to feed myself with healthy home cooked food. When I was younger, my mom told me that I must know how to do household chores simply because I am a girl. Well, I figured out that that’s not the only reason. Maybe it’s just a pre-requisite for you to have an easy life when you decided to live independently as you explore the rest of your life.
