đș Can I have a Butterfly Needle? đș Chapter Two
This chapter is much longer! I'm a bit proud of it. You can read chapter one here! Content: FTM (Transgender) Daisuke, Fluff, Romance, Male Reader, MLM, Snarky Banter, Tired Reader, somewhat nagging/nitpicky reader
You were standing on the platform at the train station, the sky on its transition into a dark cerulean as it mourns the departure of the sun. You look down at your phone, but it seems like the screen isnât working, you should probably get that busted old thing fixed soon. You swipe and tap at the glass, only for it not to respond, flashing your lock-screen, the clock on your screen ticking away. (Authors Note: 18:00 = 6:00 PM for those who donât like 24hr clocks <3) 18:06, 18:07, 18:08.
Seemed fast for minutes, but whatever⊠You put your phone in your pocket, to warm your left hand up a bit after being suggested to the unforgiving cold, giving you a lesson for not wearing gloves. This train was sure taking itâs sweet ass time, at this rate youâd be home at an ungodly hour, and it was your turn to be cooking dinner tonight. Like it was every night, because Daisuke didnât know how to cook, and he eventually just started mooching off of you because he was sick of eating instant ramen. You always seemed to have leftovers of leftovers after he had a plate anyway. You didnât mind it sometimes.. Because sometimes you needed those Tupperwares cleared for the next night you cooked anyway. You thought of it like giving the scraps to the dog under the table, it was a transaction! You look to your left, expecting to see the train, or the screen of wait time being shorter, but as soon as you doâŠ
SLAM!!
âHey! I bought us the stuffs..â Daisuke said breathlessly as you recover from jumping out of your skin. He had slammed the door after coming in.. You groggily look around, feeling your warm mattress under you, and the cool wetness of sweat on your skin. Covered in sheet marks on your face and one of your pant legs up your knees. âDamn.. That sleep was good ainât it?â Daisuke giggled, with that stupid Beavis and Butthead ass laugh. Whatever. You sit up and stretch, letting out a sort of dramatic groan. You rub your eyes, then look at the several bags he puts down on the kitchen table. Did he buy THAT much damn Orange Juice!?
âWhatâs all that? Thought you went to buy yourself some OJ..â You say, your voice nearly cracking on that first word or two as your vocal chords get acclimated to speaking again after the nap you had. âWell, I just saw a few extra things I thought we needed..â Daisuke said, his gaze avoiding yours as he looked down inside the bags, he pulls out a bottle of orange juice a bit bigger than youâd like for your budget, but it was his money, so it was probably fine. âExtra things? Like what? I told you we had everything else stockedâŠâ You say, your concern for what he could have possibly felt he needed to buy registering to him as you telling him off already. âBut- but I found some good stuff, honest!â He said, defensively, but still not exactly taking out the âgood stuffâ from the bag. âWell? Letâs see it.â You say, crossing your arms. Daisuke pauses, sort of staring at you blankly for a moment, before sighing and opening the plastic bag to take out what heâd bought.
He takes out a hibiscus gel bead air freshener. âWhy do we need this?â You ask, and he opens it up, immediately putting it to his face before even thinking about a response. âDONâT- âŠStart huffing thatâ You say, pinching the bridge of your nose, the sudden word startling him out of sniffing the air freshener. He brings it away from his face, looking down at the colorful beads. âWell, I see them in the the study hall a lot, and the study hall smells good, so I figured we could use one.â He explained. âYou donât go sniffing up the one in the study hall do y-â âNo comment.â Daisuke interjects. You sigh and bring your hand away from your face. âwe have Febreeze in the bathroom.â You say, looking at him as he holds the little tub of beads. âSo? The Febreeze donât spray itself..â He says, as if constant fragrance was simply a must. âDid you even stop to consider that itâs nearly winter and youâre buying this tropical scent?â You ask, because hibiscus is a more tropical and floral scent, more suited for summertime in your eyes. âYeah? So what? It smells good.â Daisuke says, not exactly sharing the same perspective. âYou donât want to get something more suited for winter? A little cozier? Like why not instead buy a candle? They have all sorts of scents, and more importantly, ones that arenât so summery. Like a warm vanilla, or maybe a pine fragranceâ You suggest, and he raises a brown. âThose sound dumb.â He said bluntly. âDumb? As dumb as buying HIBISCUS in November!?â You said, because he clearly didnât understand the importance of scents. âDude, itâs not that deep. Only you would care so damn much about the specific scent I picked for the house.â Daisuke chuckled, finding your reasoning ridiculous. âAlright- whatever, whatever. What else did you get?â You ask, not wanting to bother arguing with him anymore. âAlright⊠so I got this.â Daisuke says, then pulls out a toilet brush with the most outrageous print on it.
âWhat. Is that.â You say, looking at that UGLY toilet brush. âAinât it cute?â Daisuke says, proudly holding it up. âNO! NO ITâS NOT!â You say quickly after, laughing at the absurdity. âYou spent precious doubloons on something that looks like what a grandma would own.â You chuckle, to which Daisuke chuckled too. âWell whatâs the harm in a fresh new toilet brush? That one in there is probably covered in bacteria anyway.â He said, causing you to actually think about it. Itâs true, that old toilet brush was yours, and youâd had it for a while, so maybe the only bad thing about that purchase was that the damn brush was ugly. âYou know what, touchĂ©. Put the brush in the bathroomâ You shrug as you spoke, and Daisuke grinned smugly. âSee? Told yaâ He said proudly. âAnd the rest of the things in that bag?â You ask, looking at the last bag. âOh, thatâs just.. a bunch of stationary.â He said, not as enthusiastically. âOh, thatâs actually not so bad!â You say, sort of happy for him for buying something for himself that he needed for productivity.
âYeah, I bought more because you keep taking all my sticky notes and gel pens..â Daisuke rolled his eyes, then looked back at you with a raised brow. You did steal his pens, because they wrote smoothly and didnât carve the page like the dry ballpoint pens they kept in the study hall. That and they had nice, vibrant colors, it was great for separating different components in the mountains of notes you took. âPlease, all that stationary you buy always seems to go toward little sketches and daydreams. Iâm putting those pens to good use.â You say, shaking your head. âYour welcome.â He said smugly. âThanks, Daisuke.â You sigh, deciding to humor him, just because you sort of felt a little guilty for taking his pens.
You turn to the kitchen, going to the lower cabinet. There was a bin in the shelf that held all of the coffee for your household coffee machine. Unfortunately, the only one left was a blueberry cobbler flavored coffee that you just.. didnât like. You sigh, and push he bin back in, and close the cabinet. You grab the metal reusable cup, and go to the upper cabinet, to look for a small bag of coffee grounds.. You canât find them, you check the cabinets, but none. Not only was there no coffee, but there were a few cooking ingredients out of stock. âYeesh. Beasting for a cup of coffee already?â He said, after having watched you almost frantically check the cabinets. âhhhhaaaaagghhhhâŠ. we need to go grocery shopping.â You say, pissed off at the idea of going back outside. âBut I thought we were all good? You were wrong?â Daisuke asked. âDonât say it like that.â You say, hearing it pointed out like that hurting your pride a bit. âWhy? You were, no shame in it.â Daisuke said, once again. âYeah, I was.. and now I need to go to the supermarket so I can cook tonight.â You sigh, walking over to your dresser. âWhat? No, no, I can do it. Iâm already dressed!â Daisuke said, noticing your fatigue. He knew how much you had on your plate already. âNo, no. You wouldn't know what to get.â You say, starting to get dressed.
âSeriously? I really hate how you treat me like Iâm some incompetent little kid sometimes.â Daisuke said firmly. It was a tone he didn't often take, but this was something that had been pissing him off for a while now. This intensity in his tone isn't missed by you, and before you speak, you take a mental note of it. This in specific upset him. So instead of saying what you might have wanted to, like âBut you act like one.â Or âI don't treat you like anythingâŠâ, you decide not to agitate him any more. You sigh, and think for a moment. âLook, how about we both go? There's enough things to split between the both of us, and we can both have the responsibility.â You say, trying to compromise.
ââŠTogether?â Daisuke said, at first, he thought that wouldn't make sense, because he thought he could very well do it on his own. Although, after putting more thought into it, he figured it wouldn't be so bad anyway, and since there were extra hands, it wouldn't be a hassle to bring up the groceries from his car. âYeah, that sounds good.â Daisuke says, and looks back at you. âGood, and maybe then I can help you save your wallet from your impulse buying.â You say, in hopes to lighten the mood, and make Daisuke ease up. It works, as he gives a faint chuckle and a smile. âStill nagging me? Seriously?â He said, as he watched you step into your sneakers. âGet your keys.â You rolled your eyes as you spoke, to which he jingled his car keys that heâd already been holding. You nod, and pull on your jacket.
After zipping up and making sure you had everything you needed, you and Daisuke leave your dorm, silently walking down the hallway. You found comfort in silence, not in that stupid way people said when they just wanted to be quirky in antisocial, but in the sense that the silence was more of a show of comfort toward whoever you were around. Daisuke however, didn't. His mind was always running, and he needed some sort of way to stimulate his brain during the silence that he considered to be awkward. So, as usual, he opens his mouth to start talking. âSo, you think thisâll be a calm little mini stock or we're going all out? Is this a Shop-rite or Costco grocery trip?â He asked, mostly to start conversation. âHm. Well, I was thinking Shop-rite, because I don't have a Costco membership.â You mumble, having been pulled out of your head by his voice. âI do! Remember?â He said a bit more enthusiastically than youâd expect when talking about Costco. âAh, you do, don't you?â You say almost subconsciously, not even fully meaning your sarcastic tone. âWe could go and stock up thereâ He says, stuffing his hands in his pockets. âWell, I still don't know, Shop-rite is RIGHT there, yanno? That and I dunno if I feel like buying in bulkâ You say, earning a nod in acknowledgement from your roommate. âNah, totally.â He says, looking at the floor as the conversation dies again.
The silence falls over the both of you again as you enter the elevator. Daisuke feels.. awkward. Are you not talking to him because he's being annoying? He's self aware right? Or.. maybe you were just grumpy about the trip, he thinks to himself. Regardless, he's getting antsy from the silence. He looks up at you, getting ready to speak again. âHey-â âYou don't *need* to fill the silence.â You interrupted. This catches Daisuke off gaurd, and makes his heart sink a bit. Was he being annoying? Did you stop him because he's was being annoying? He didn't mean to genuinely annoy you. He just liked talking to you.. Recognizing how your prior statement could be interpreted, you continue. âIf you want to speak to me, that's fine, but don't just talk if you want to fill the silenceâ You said, hoping that would prevent him from being hurt or upset. âI don't mind just chilling with you, you're good.â You say, which instantly lifts a weight off Daisukeâs shoulders. He smiles, that wide smile with the big olâ gap between his two front teeth. âYeah? You mean it?â He said, trying to sound nonchalant and casual, but not doing a very good job at it. âYeah. Yeah I mean it.â You respond, not exactly realizing how much it meant to him of course.
You two arrive at Daisukeâs car, because you didn't own a car of course. He gets in the driver's seat, while you get in the passenger's, and he turns the car on. The car was a sleek, navy Honda accord. Not some fancy ride, but it was a pretty new make, so it wasn't some rinky dink tuna can like many other students drove around campus. Daisuke pulls out of his parking spot, and starts on the route toward Shop-rite. âYou want the aux?â Daisuke asked, in another attempt to get to know you more. You think about it, and you're a little insecure about showing off your music taste at first. You weren't in the mood to hear it the whole ride if he didn't like it. But, you decide that there wasn't much harm in it, and take your phone out of the pocket. âYeah, sure why not.â You say calmly, and hook up the car speaker to your music app.
You play your most recent playlist, and at first, it seems like Daisuke doesn't react. But before you could start thinking too deeply behind his lack of reaction, he looks at the song on your phone screen, held up by a clip on his dashboard. âYou listen to this?â He chuckles, not in a scornful manner, but an endeared one. âYeah uhm. Iâve been into this genre since like- highschool.â You respond, not thinking too deeply into it anymore. Daisuke files this information away in his mind, along with the other three things he MAYBE knew about you. Sometimes it felt like he didn't know anything at all. âNever took you for a guy that like this stuff. Iâm not like- SUPER in the loop, but Iâll bump this genre sometimes.â Daisuke happily replies, glad that he's found another thing to have in common with you, even if not majorly. You felt a sense of relief pass through you, not that you were all too wound up about it, but it was refreshing not to be poked at for something you liked, even if you knew it wasn't very serious. âYeah, this isn't my only vibe, but this was my go to for a long time, I feel like I can't just let goâŠâ You say, which sound a bit more emotional than you intended, that might end up awkward..
Daisuke ponders that last sentiment for a moment, but only a moment. âWho says you need to?â He says, as he drives, his eyes not looking away from the road even for a second it seemed. âWell, I know I don't NEED to but..â You say, trying to avoid anything youâve heard before, but for some reason, it was so hard to get in touch with this feeling enough to properly articulate it. âI kinda get that feeling, like watching everyone elseâs tastes evolve while yours remain the same can feel a bit lonely. That, or like you're missing out on something, but you don't know what.â Daisuke said, honestly just speaking from the heart. You could pick that up in his tone as well, that he was being honest. You felt⊠glad. Glad that Daisuke felt comfortable enough to talk to you so sentimentally about something as silly as music tastes. It wasn't like anything youâd hear from some of your other buddies.. The conversations with them just never seemed to steer in an emotional or sentimental direction. âYeah, that's exactly it..â You say, your thoughtful voice reflecting sense of vulnerability that began to emerge. âYeah, I like to think that no matter how long your interests remain the same, it won't change how much youâll enjoy the new things you're guaranteed to find. So why does it matter when you find it?â Daisuke said, all while looking at the road. âYou know, that might be the most insightful thing Iâll ever hear you say.â You say, teasing him because you don't even know how to contribute to a conversation like this, you felt⊠kind of unequipped. âWow! How nice! And here I am trying to encourage you and make you feel welcome in MY CAR!â Daisuke laughed bantering back. He wasn't expecting deep conversation from you, but boy was he pleased that you were willing to let HIM talk like this and not shut him down. That meant it might not be as difficult to get closer to you than he thought, right?
You on the other hand, are still grappling with this feeling. It felt nice, but it wasn't just that âoh coolâ kind of nice. It was something you couldn't yet place, and yet took so much comfort in it. Well, no point in thinking about it so much, you decide to just enjoy the feeling. âOh hey- make sure to turn left at the end of this street.â You remind him, you don't really know why, but you did. It just came to you like it was second nature. âAh, thanks. I almost forgot because I was talking.â Daisuke replied, offering you a quick glance finally as he breaks out of his own head.
đș "Can I have a Butterfly Needle?" đș Chapter One
Chapter One of a series I decided to make at 12am with my friend @ittosbbl on call.. This is my very first ever fanfiction, so I hope you like it! :) Content: FTM (Transgender) Daisuke, Fluff, Male Reader, MLM, Snarky Banter, Tired Reader, Very short first chapter haha
Nursing, you donât know why you chose that as your major, the workload honestly didnât feel like it was worth it sometimes, and you never seemed to catch a break juggling your job and classes. You and Daisuke, a liberal arts major also in his sophomore year, were paired together as roommates at the beginning of your sophomore year after you had decided to switch roommates. You switched because your roommate was just frankly insufferable. He was a very socially stunted and not so hygienic IT major. Regardless, your new roommate was.. tolerable at least. You werenât coming home to strange smells in your dorm, no snarky comments on your every move, and no debates sparked because of those annoying comments. The sink would fill up with dishes a bit quick, but it was a price to pay to be able to breathe again.
You had lab today, so you were wearing black scrubs, it was deeper into fall around now, and wearing those without extra layers was a mistake you werenât going to make again. So, you enter your dorm, to find Daisuke on his Play Station playing Overwatch, out of every other game he could play. You walk in, take off your coat all while watching him completely sell his team in competitive. He dies, having gotten bulldozed by an Orisa. He sighs, and turns around in his shitty office chair as the kill cam plays, playing off him turning away to save his pride as him being a good roommate and greeting you. Both of you knew he wouldnât have at all if he hadnât died. âHey, Y/N! Youâre finally back from class, huh?â He said, leaning back in the chair lazily as he spoke. âNo, Iâm just visiting our dorm..â You said sarcastically, it was hard to pass up the opportunity to when he gave so many. âOh haha very funny, asshole.â He chuckled, crossing his arms, then sighing as he stood up from the chair, gathering momentum to force himself up by bringing his arms up and then swinging them back down to his sides. He rolls forward on his heels, the upper part of his feet landing with a faint thump in the carpet. Of course, you werenât very impressed by this. It didnât bother you per se, but it just made you question what the purpose of doing it was. âSo you needed to do that? Was simply standing up not an alternative?â You ask, unable to just leave it alone and not comment. Maybe you had a bit more in common with that annoying old roommate than you thought. âNo, No I didnât, and here you are. Still standing. On the earth. That is still spinning. Any more questions?â He responds just as snarkily, splitting up each point he made to add emphasis. You chuckle, even though you knew that would feed his ego. âNow, as I was saying, you goinâ to the supermarket? We ran out of OJ.â Daisuke said, stretching upward and yawning as he spoke. The audacity, talking about some damn orange juice as if he didnât just watch you take your coat off and put your bag down. For a moment, you consider going, not specifically for the juice, but because you might need to restock on any other household items. Everything seems good, so you step out of your shoes. âWhy donât you just go yourself?â You respond after the faint pause, leaving your shoes by the door. Daisukeâs calm face drops into an unimpressed look, his lips pressing into a line. âWhy should I if youâre already dressed?â He said, rubbing the back of his neck. âCome oonn, weâre out..â He spoke again before you could respond. âNo, youâre out of OJ. I donât drink that stuff.â You shoot back, walking over to your dresser next to your bed and taking off your scrubs. âYouâre telling me we arenât out of anything else? No TP? Dish Soap? âŠMouthwash?â He said, trying to find some reason to pawn the chore off to you. You shake your head, and he puts both hands on his face, like youâve completely disgraced him. âOh my goooddddd bbrroooo..â He groaned to himself. You get into some comfy clothing, fleece pajama pants and the black long sleeve T-shirt you were wearing under your scrubs, and lay back onto your bed, shimmying onto the plush mattress. âIf you need that OJ so damn bad, you go to the store and get it yourself.â You said, in a sigh as you got comfortable, feeling your muscles tense and relax. âBy the way, while youâre out, get me a BLT and a Pepsi, thanks.â You say, sighing smugly. Daisuke, already having been distracted from whatever you were saying, puts his hands on his head. âI GOT A PENALTY?? FUCK!!â He shouts as he looks at the red banner across the screen, informing him of the penalty he got himself for remaining idle in a competitive game. âLooks like youâve got time to go to the store, errand boy.â You sigh, smiling up at him from the mattress as he sneered down at you. đș
