Syllen is Jett’s best friend in the whole world. Before coming to college Jett was mainly friends with their family as well as the team back home but this was something different… it was special. There’s nothing in the world that they’d keep from Syllen… well expect for one thing. But he can’t ever know how they fell about him. Jett is far too afraid of losing him. “I would love that so much… You’re my own personal sunflower. That is so cute!” Jett laughs a little looking over at him with a grin. “If you were ever stuck in a dark room, I would come save you. We won’t be having you wilting, not my little sunflower.” Jett turns over to grab his cheeks and squeeze them playfully. “Oh god no I’m fine.. Acrobatics kicked my ass today is all… I just want to lay around for the rest of the day. It’s photosynthesis day!” 

His eyes remained closed, despite not being tired anymore. It’s just relaxing to sunbathe here alongside one of his best friends. His upbringing was an interesting one with something almost always going on. While Syllen likes to be kept busy, it’s nice to make time for doing nothing too. It’s important to make time for yourself, getting some fresh air is the best way to do just that. After feeling fingers squeezing his cheeks his eyes finally open again and a playful grin can be seen on his face. “My night in shining armor. I’ll never wilt when you’re around.” He wonders if this is what it felt for his parents when they formed the young allies when they were kids. Friends you can trust with your life no matter the circumstances. Syllen’s bond with Jett feels like that whenever he recalls the stories his parents told him growing up. “I know the feeling acrobatics can be brutal. My Pa grew up in the circus so I always feel like there’s something to prove, you know? Maybe we can practice after school together sometime.” They might not be in the same class but it wouldn’t hurt to help each other out. “I much prefer photosynthesis day though.” Some soft laughter is paired with his words; at least he’s honest.

      Jon noticed Syllen sunbathing on one of the many fields that littered the school. He looked as comfortable as ever and before he knew it, Jon was heading in his direction, hoping to receive the same amount of comfort from the sun. “Why would I step on you?” He questioned, brows pulling together as he moved to sit beside Syllen, turning his face towards the sun. 

Once realizing who’s sitting next to him, Syllen relaxes his shoulders. It’s easy to be himself around Jon after all their rooftop conversation; their tradition to meet up at least once a week. They didn’t have to worry about being Superman or Hemlock, only themselves. Opportunities like this don’t come around often. Syllen understands growing up in the spotlight, his fathers and grandfather are war heroes. “It happens sometimes but I know you’d never do such a thing.” He sits up in the grass. “Look at us meeting up in a field during the daytime instead of a rooftop at night. It’s quite the opposite of our usual routine.”

        Cat groaned loudly, rolling her head back with her eyes, a dramatic display for the person sitting across from her. “I just don’t get why I’m being punished for something I didn’t have any part in. It’s not like I was here to help with the Sentinels. Maybe if I was they wouldn’t have failed, but now all classes are going to get harder and I have no say. This is bullshit. Right?” 

Syllen wasn’t there to help with the Sentinels either, which is something that they both have in common. He doesn’t understand why they were ever here in the first place. It didn’t matter that they were made and controlled by the school. Why did that have to be their test? He regrets not being there to help … definitely won’t make that mistake again. Syllen sighs then takes a long sip of his iced tea. “You’re not the only one who wasn’t there. We both weren’t. It feels unfair to punish everyone. However, I don’t really mind harder classes. I’ve always enjoyed a challenge.”

Annie could do with some calm. Even with the power nullifier strapped to her wrist (not strapped, actually, it was a far too easy lock on it and Annie wished there was none at all. That the wrist could remain locked forever, but she was not so lucky) anyone feeling something particular strong broke through the barrier. Nothing gave her the sweet avoidance she craved except for seclusion and distance. The boy was asleep, he wasn’t giving off powerful emotions at all. Made great company. So Annie plopped into the grass, enjoying the peace for 0.2 seconds before he awoke. Damn. “You could make it 20 if you want.” She prompted. “No judgement here.”

the grass was always a good place to sit down and try to do some homework, but as theo walked around her found a body laying on the ground. he looked over them and smiled as they opened their eyes. “ it’s totally fine, i just made sure you’re not dead or something.”

Luckily Syllen has never been the type to snore, so his slumber shouldn’t disturb anyone who comes along and decides to sit nearby. He smiles while finally sitting up on the grass. There’s probably dirt or leaves in his hair but it feels natural to let it remain. “I’m very alive, I promise you. I don’t really get my preferred amount of sun sitting in my room, so coming out here is the next best thing.”

Mar’i was on her way back to the dorms. When she noticed someone sleeping out on the quad. Normally she would have let them enjoy themselves, but it was almost 11am. She flew over, floating above them as she looked down. “I was just coming over to warn you that the sprinklers turn on in about ten minutes.” 

The warning is appreciated, although Syllen doesn’t really mind getting caught in the sprinklers. It’s just water after all. He requires more of it than others but he isn’t really interested in waiting for his clothes to dry out before going back inside. “I appreciate the warning. You would think after all these years I would have memorized the schedule they run on…” Syllen quickly grabs his backpack and leapt to his feet. He takes a few steps to stand somewhere the sprinkler can’t reach him.

Sloan had just finished with her afternoon classes and was making her way back across the green when she caught sight of a body laying in the grass. In her experience, bodies laying in the grass weren’t usually a good thing, especially after the recent homecoming fiasco. Never one to simply just stand there and mind her own business, Sloan moved in close enough to cast a shadow over the form. “Just making sure you were still breathing.“ she explained, giving him the ol’ once over through a set of perfectly curled lashes and raised brow. “By all means, do you.”

With everything that happened recently … maybe it wasn’t wise to lounge outside but Syllen needed to bathe in the rays of the sun. If it were up to him the bedrooms would have much bigger windows to bring in more natural light. It’s what he envisions his dream house to look like, something to strive for in the distant future. There’s more important things to focus on in the here and now. “I’m not dead yet … just enjoying the fresh air.” Syllen makes the effort to get up at least; quietly stretching once on his feet.

Outside of their family, Syllen was one of the first people that Jett ever became friends with. Sure it often felt like at times her family had to be her friends, despite knowing that was untrue… but this felt like their first real friend in the world outside of the two cities they used to call home. “I would never step on you, you’re like my cute little sunflower!” Jett slings the back from their shoulder onto the ground and as quick as they can plop down into the grass. She falls back onto her own back eyes closing in the sun. “I wish I could photosynthesize… it would be so much easier.” 

Syllen watches his friend toss their backpack on the ground before laying down next to him. He smiles, always happy to spend time with Jett. After meeting in film club, they quickly bonded over their similar taste in movies, and made a tradition to watch at least one a week together. “Little sunflower is a new one … I like it! How about from now on only you can call me that?His eyes close too, relaxing once again now that there’s no need to get up now. They could really spend all afternoon out here. “Photosynthesizing is great but if someone stuck me in a dark room for a week … well, I’d be done for.” Laughter escapes his lips for a moment before getting more serious. “Everything okay? Should I be worried about you?”

“Ah, so you are alive. I didn’t feel like checking.” Emrys told him after he opened his eyes. He’d been peering down at him for a short while now. Debating with himself internally whether he was alive or dead. He slept so still, he couldn’t see his chest rising and falling with each breath. (Then again, he’d always needed glasses. He just refused to wear them. It made him look far too much like his dad.) “This is admittedly an odd place to sleep.” 

This wouldn’t be the first time someone stopped to watch Syllen sleep. He’s used to it and simply laughs it off whenever this happens. He doesn’t toss and turn much, nor does he ever make noise. Does this make him the ideal guest at a sleepover? It just might. Which maks him think that him sleeping out here wouldn’t bother anyone. “Believe it or not I try not to make a habit out of it.” Syllen probably doesn’t really need to explain himself but does anyway. He usually just lounges but today called for a little more. “I’m not always successful in my attempts though.” He’s sitting up now at least but doesn’t make an effort to stand just yet.

Sam hovered over Syllen as he thought of way to wake them before they woke themselves up and he leaned back, sitting near them. “Nah I wouldn’t step on you, unless you asked.” He said jokingly. “Damn how tired where you that you fell asleep outside? Gonna make me tired. You’re trying to get out of training session.”
