i appreciate the amount of people reblogging this despite me not really tagging this at all. im glad many of people feel the same anger i do.
An er doctor that wants to just lounge around does not make me feel confident as a patient
how long and how many days a week do you think ER doctors work. i think they're right to want to just fucking chill. i want a well rested doctor treating me and not one who just pulled a 24 hour shift and then a 12 and another 12 before another 24, with only a few hours of legally mandated breaks inbetween.
Yeah some of us want a 30-hour work week because we've read the experimental research trials. People aren't any less productive and they are happier and less stressed and feel less leisure time pressure.
It turns out that working 40 hours a week is just too much. Full stop, no ifs ands or buts. The tiredness and loss of focus it induces is enough that you're about 25% less productive per hour when you're on a 40-hour work week, and so the extra 10 hours a week cancels out. This effect is a little bit more pronounced for white collar work and a little bit less pronounced for blue collar work, but there's functionally not enough of a difference to care. And people who are working more than that actually become less productive in total.
The thing is that you don't immediately gain the benefits of being fully rested and focused by working less on just one day, or even one week. It can even take months to settle into the pattern of higher productivity per working hour, and that's frankly miraculously quick given that full burnout can take years to recover from. And during that transition you will be less immediately productive. Particularly for people who pride themselves on being hard workers and how much overtime they put in, the notion that working less can get just as much done can feel absurd and even insulting. Because it seems so painfully obvious that you get less done when you do less, and any experiences of being invited to do so feel like they back that up.
But it's true. We are all simply working more than we need to, pointlessly, to no benefit at all. It is an appallingly pointless waste of human life.
The results of several workplace surveys may defy expectations, but the data is clear: shortened work weeks can work for businesses and empl
Also, I don’t actually care if someone is less productive working 30 hours a week or 20 hours a week. We do not need endless productivity and it’s bad for the earth and bad for people. We would be completely fine if everyone was half as productive. Literally we would be better off. It does not matter that a 30 hour work week is as productive as a 40 hour work week. Reject that framing!
Also, can we talk about how “multitasking” is not real? And constantly switching between tasks is super bad for your brain and leads to mistakes? And how “multitasking” is a requirement on almost every job listing, even though it’s not real and bad for everyone involved??
Money's stupid, the world would be a lot less hostile if we just used our human empathy and just cared for each other.
And if some schmuck came along and went "No this is all mine" we beat that sucker the fuck up because they're an asshole.

i love writing out numbers and then putting them in parentheses like "one (1)" even when i dont need to i think its funny
Special Containment
its awesome that neither mind reading nor god are real and all of the thoughts inside of your head are completely private and consequenceless forever #myprivacy
saying God ain’t real is so unnecessary 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
its actually pretty necessary for people who grew up being told "all of your thoughts are constantly monitored by an omniscient and omnipotent authority who may doom you to an eternity of torment if you think wrong" to occasionally be reminded that none of it is true at all.
beh

"it's just stress" oh thank god, it's just the silent killer that slowly kills you, perfectly harmless, no need to worry
isn't it insane though how schizophrenic people are viewed as violent and dangerous by the majority of society when in reality schizophrenic people are nearly 14 times more likely to be on the receiving end of violence than to be the perpetrators...
schizophrenic person: makes a post trying to raise awareness about the disproportionate abuse and harmful stereotypes schizophrenic people face
yall: "yeah im not gonna reblog this they used the word ins*ne which is so problematic ://"
What the fuck happens that changes these stats to such a massive degree?
1) schizophrenia hardly ever causes people to be violent so schizophrenic people aren’t more likely to be violent than anyone else
2) schizophrenic people’s autonomy is often taken away from them because of their schizophrenia. because the authorities and mental healthcare providers often automatically assume schizophrenic people to be violent, they’re more likely to immediately react to schizophrenic people's symptoms with violence, without even knowing for sure said schizophrenic person was going to be violent. all of this causes schizophrenic people to be more likely of being victims of violence and abuse. schizophrenic people also have a harder time getting out of abusive households because of the risk of their autonomy being taken away. if a schizophrenic person’s relative or partner is abusive, often the schizophrenic person has no way out of the situation, both because our disconnect from reality can result in us being easier to manipulate, and because the system is built in a way that it takes away our autonomy because of our condition.
also schizophrenic people and psychotic people in general, please do a lot of research before picking a provider for your own sake, and if they try to treat your psychosis in a way that you think is harmful then don’t hesitate to switch providers. your safety and wellbeing should be a priority over everything else.
can y'all please reblog this version instead
I’ve never seen this with the update and it makes it so much funnier

Remember, if you think you're dumb, there's people who use AI in their daily lives and are completely okay with being lobotomized by the big think machines whilst calling you an idiot for not using it.
No, It's NOT a 'handy tool' that takes away tedious steps from a task like a dishwasher for cleaning dishes or whatever. It's an actual fucking parasite of a machine that takes away your ability to look shit up on the internet, to review it yourself, to check the sources and come to your own conclusion based off of that information. AI doesn't 'do the hard work of looking up information for you', it just hallucinates the answer based on the fucking vibes of a handful of sources without citing them and presenting them as facts.
My dad, like the moron he is, has on the daily asked AI mundane questions he couldn't be arsed to google it (or whatever search engine you prefer because google itself is now AI slop too). It's like watching a loved one get dementia and seeing the consequences in real time, it's fucking scary seeing someone you love get reduced to a moron, and worst of all they get fucking mad when you call them out for it!
"It just helps me" "I like the answers better" "I can understand what it says at least" YOU ARE ACTIVELY KILLING YOUR BRAIN BY NOT STIMULATING IT, BY NOT DOING YOUR OWN GODDAMN RESEARCH, AT IT PISSES ME OFF TO HIGH HELL THAT THESE MORONS ARE SO APATHETIC TO THEIR OWN DOWNFALL!
I was in the same school doing mostly the same subject (IT, so computers, networking etc), before and after covid. Before covid, before the big boom of AI people were actually writing essays and shit, like yes you could see it was crude but godDAMNIT at least they wrote it and put some effort into it. After covid, all of my classmates used AI, not a single damn essay besides my own was written by hand (or...keyboard rather) and all just prompted.
What baffled me most is that in the post-covid era there was someone in my class who did not know what an HDMI port was like...2/3rds into the year. Mind you, this was not a beginner's class for IT, basic and somewhat advanced understanding of computers was expected, so not understanding what a goddamn HDMI port is is pretty baffling to say the least, and this was not the only case in the class.
The worst part? The teachers were apathetic to it all, they knew they couldn't stop it because how do you even like...check on it? Some teachers even used AI images in their presentations and...nobody but me was bothered by the obvious mistakes and melty artifacts??
AI will be our fucking downfall if we let it, it rots your brain to the point where basic skills cannot be assumed anymore.
Is it great for detecting cancer? Sure is, not gonna argue against that usage because at that point it becomes like a dishwasher in how useful it is, not to mention how it saves lives that way. But for every other thing it can do it's a cancer itself because then people don't have to bother thinking anymore.
My dad works at Home Depot and this one customer came in trying to return a lawnmower that wouldn’t start. Another employee asked the customer if he had put any gas in it and the customer was outraged, yelling that they should have told him it needed gas (it was in the manual) and the employee told him “Well it doesn’t run on hopes and dreams, sir.” That pissed the guy off more so he called the manager all “Can you believe this guy!? He told me it doesn’t run on hopes and dreams!” and the manager just said “Well, it doesn’t.”
