Thomas took her hand willingly, beaming at her in delight. “It’s a pleasure, Cory Cooper. I’m a fan of the alliteration.” Finally, she was opening up. Penelope was expecting him to report back in a few hours and so far none of the other street kids had seen anything out of the ordinary.

“You seem like you would” She rolled her eyes and put her hand back in her pocket. “You got any questions or are you just gonna keep smilin’ an idiot”

“Both.” He couldn’t help it - he was just a smiley person in general. “So, you heard anything about some kind of meta? I believe that was my original question, now wasn’t it?”

“I guess so” Cory rolled her eyes “Yeah I hear stuff, everybody does, but I don’t really pay attention. There are metas all over most of em’ wanna be left alone”

“Uh…thanks, I guess?” He couldn’t quite figure out if she was complimenting him or insulting his city ( say what you will, but gothamites can be terribly defensive about the dump they call home ). “Well I can hardly decide if you’re nice or not. I just met you, haven’t I? I’m not overestimating anything.”

“Nice to meet you then.” Cory crossed her arms and took half a step away from him “What’d you say your name was?” She shoved her hands in her jeans pockets and sighed.

“I didn’t.” He grinned, though accepting the step towards friendship. “Tommy Robinson, at your service.” He said, paired with a mock bow, after deciding that Thomas was way too formal in this instance. “And you are…?”

She rolled her eyes and smiled at the bow. "Cory Cooper" She stuck out her hand for him to shake. She'd figured that he didn't suspect her yet, he was nice enough so she decided she could carry on a conversation, maybe convince him to stop asking so many questions.

Metas are pretty cool”

“I guess you’ve never met a meta then.” Cory scoffed. Cory could tell that there was something more behind his questions. “What do you want anyway? Nobody talks to kids like me unless they want something” She looked him straight in the eyes.

“No, I haven’t…but my sister has!” Granted, she hadn’t spared much time for talking after beating him up for daring to try and touch her. But she didn’t blame all metas for it. “I just told you what I wanted - I’m curious! Kid, I grew up in Gotham. We’re not to picky about who we talk to there. Besides, you seem like a nice girl to me.”

"That hellhole? You turned out alright for Gotham city" Cory shrugged and kicked the ground "I think you're overestimating my people skills bud, nobody has ever accuded me of bein' a nice girl"

Cory stood up from where she sat and glared at the group of bullies "Hey!" Her voice was loud and authoritative She'd noticed the little one before, he seemed to get pushed around a lot andCory didn't like that one bit. She marched over to the boys and stood in front of the small one who was now lying in his own blood on the floor. "Wow, picking on someone who can't fight back, real brave of you"

She was just minding her own buisiness when he walked up to her. Cory responded to his cheerful smile with a grimace. She didn't let the panic she felt show on her face. She was stuck, she was in trouble. Was he asking because he knew it was her or just asking. She wanted to run but if she was just asking he'd know it was her. She stayed where she stood. She was going to have to lie. "I've heard... I doubt whoever it is wants you snoopin' around"
