so i watched the first 4eps of hr with my roommates and their friend (all gay men, varying degrees of catholic), the verdict: they don’t hate it, thought it was fun but found the first few eps very triggering because of the communication issues - also questions about representation - and daniel and michael were really confused why i liked it and why women in general would care about a show about a relationship between two men, which led to daniel interrogating me for a good 25 minutes about fujoshi culture.
highlights include: "do you pay more attention to your gay friends’ love lives than your straight friends’?" and "how do you - a woman - even end up finding stories between men how is there that much of a draw?" and "there are lesbian fujos????? why????" and "how can you judge realism of a story if you have no lived experience? is it all not just pure fantasy?" and last but certainly not least, completely unprompted "do fujoshi like mpreg?"
