hey (@americans) please remember that the pandemic is not over. please wear masks, keep six feet away from each other, donāt go out for unecessary stuff. i know that a lot of states are reopening but the cases are increasing again and weāre starting a second wave. i know weāre all tired of covid and thereās a lot going on right now but please please please remember this isnāt over. (6/10/20)
Iām serious. I keep seeing posts about people going to restaurants, planning barbecues, going on dates with new people, etc. Iām begging you, please stop. We only got this under control because we isolated. What was the point of the last three months of hardship if weāre just going to go back and spread the virus again? This isnāt over just because youāre tired of it.
ābodies associated with cis women are harshly stigmatized, made taboo, and policed as part of misogyny, often in violent ways or with the threat of violenceā and ānot all women have vaginas and not everyone with a vagina is a womanā and ātrans peoplesā bodies are harshly stigmatized, made taboo, and policed as part of transphobia, often in violent ways or with the threat of violenceā are not mutually exclusive facts and in fact all of these things are deeply interlinked, and should not be used as gotchas! against each other
An example of someone acknowledging their white privilege and using it to help. #Love it!

That's fricking hilarious

#anastasia (1997) actually fucking me up since i was 4 years old
bonus:
This Dimitri is straight out of a Russian novel
his character really is more of a prince by sheer default then nearly any actual disney prince out there and you may all fight me on this - he excudes that decent slavic sadness⢠centrified all the way
but why do i say āi knowā to my pets when they make noises. im lying to them. i donāt know anything.
I love all the One Day At A Time characters but the women of the show are just so special to me in their own way. The way I see it Elena is the brains, Penelope the heart and Lydia the passion.
I had some much fun doing these illustrations š
[Now we get to the brownface photo. After it drops, Adam calls an all-staff Zoom meeting to discuss it.]
He just kind of said sorry, Iām sorry, this was dumb, a dumb costume, I didnāt realize how this might affect people. And it was like a couple sentences, and then there was a pause and no one spoke, and he was like, āOkay, so letās wrap this meeting up!ā And I was like, āAbsolutely not. You should resign. Like I think itās crazy that you think that you can do anything now but resign.ā And then that got the conversation started.
[What did he say to that?]
He said, āYeah, maybe, maybe I should. I donāt know.ā He said he wanted to think about whatās good for Bon Appetit, like maybe itās better for him to stay and help us fix this, but then more people started chiming in wanting his resignation.
[Were any of the people who chimed in white?]
Well, what happened was, it was like 40 people on the Zoom meeting. Half of them were not showing their face. And then it was me and like a couple other people of color and one white girl who were speaking. And then I kind of just snapped and yelled at everybody and Iām like, this is why this shit happens! Everyoneās hiding. Like half of you are hiding, most of you arenāt saying anything. And you post all this stuff on Instagram about pretending to care. But now is the time where we can actually make a difference, but no one was speaking up?
And then the white people started talking. They just needed to be yelled at. It shouldnāt happen that way, it really shouldnāt.

Making fun of disabled adults who still live with their parents is ableist, period.
Making fun of adults who still live with their parents until they feel obligated to disclose medical information is also ableist. Disabled people don't owe you an explanation.
Making fun of adults that still live with their parents is ableist, classist, AND reinforces capitalism.Ā Ā
let's also say ageist. many seniors find it beneficial to have the assistance and company of their kids. like, older folks have limited mobility that might not rise to the level of disability, and it's good for them to have reinforcements.
also, wild though it may seem: healthy families like being with each other.
It's also incredibly western-centric.
I still live at home with my mom because neither of us want to live alone. It wouldn't be financially beneficial for either of us and we just don't want to.

Thereās a lot of Scooby Doo stuff on Netflix
A follow up in my sketchbook
This is unironically one of the better written, in-character, funny pieces of Scooby-Doo media in the past decade

why when able bodied fans draw canonically disabled chair-user characters do they have the abled partner sitting on their lap? i would kill someone if they touched my cane or sat on me in my chair
THIS SHIT IS INFINITELY MORE ROMANTIC THAN SITTING ON TOP OF YOUR DISABLED PARTNER. THE TENDERNESS INVOLVED IN HOLDING YOUR PARTNERS HAND, IN BEING CONSIDERATE OF THEIR SPACE, IN MAKING SURE THEY FEEL SAFE AND LOVED. iām not going to go as far as saying stop having able bodied people sit on top of their disabled partners but know iām disabled and would never consider it. i would absolutely get hurt
i hold the same viewpoint on able bodied partners carrying their disabled partner for no reason. my body is a fragile thing, easily broken. it has to be protected even from people with the best intentions. meet me at my level instead of taking me to yours
abled allies can and should reblog this
Just cause I can let a 4 yr old on my lap does not mean I can carry a grown human being -_-
