Scattershot Questions and observations that probably won't make it into the pokÊmon fanfic I may or may not be working on
What's media even like in the pokÊmon world? You have animals that can do magic, that's gotta change the shape of genre fiction especially. - Partial answer: I think Horror's doing fine, but there's specific stereotypical representations of some pokÊmon that's done a lot of damage to their reputation, zorua and zoroark are prime examples. Guessing "ditto or zorua" is a running joke among horror fans when identity theft or weird acting strangers is the subject of an upcoming story.
Yes I have in fact imagined what animal centric media's pokÊmon equivalents are, The Lion King is a *nightmare* to imagine cause you can either keep the best looking equivalents but those live in vastly different regions OR pick a region and get an absolutely wild look. Do remember that the Lion King was originally praised for keeping its animals to ones that actually live in Africa (except the leafcutter ants whom one guy over here had beef with I am not kidding).
Pokemon can do jobs if trainers send them... can you have a company entirely staffed by pokÊmon or do they need a token human to front the thing? Is there secret pokÊmon only enterprises that humans don't know about? Do pokÊmon have their own concepts of justice and crimes??
How is allergies handled in a world where people can freely bring their creature basically anywhere they please?
Meowth in the anime is a freak like even the anime episode specifically about his ability to talk makes it cleat that is fucking weird. I refuse to acknowledge it. Nope, didn't happen, lalala. This is not a question I am just stating it.
Speaking of anime specific pokemon behavior.... dittos in general can copy anything exactly it was THAT ONE SPECIFIC ditto from that one specific anime episode that couldn't copy faces resulting in the dot eyes. This is again specifically called out as not how it usually works. Get your dot eyed freak ditty merchandise out of my face or start making more episode specific pokemon gear I dare you pokÊmon company. Bring back the Spiky-eared Pichu.
Could one see the in-game uniform look of all pokemon (aside from shinies and comes-in-different-patterns-gimmick-pokemon) as a sign of "breed standards" being in play? Or is it just humans being real bad at identifying coat differences? (my personal answer: yes.)
