The new TM intro does an excellent job at showing how important Rin is to Haru, and I think everyone should go watch it immediately.

For starters, we have this

Which is Haru standing against all his memories of Rin. (The scenes where you don’t see Rin are either from Rin’s pov or they’re looking at Rin.) 

Next you have this new scene, where Rin symbolically runs away from the train tracks instead of racing Haru that winter day.

Which leads to a scene where Haru is older, turning in his resignation from the swim club:

Later on in the OP, while this isn’t strictly RH, you can see Rin reaching out his hand for Haru along with everyone else!
