What if?
Xianle Quartet Polycule Headcanons bc I said so:
Feng Xin getting absolutely choked to death at night by his three Rapunzels' long-ass hair
Related: Hua Cheng, Xie Lian, and Mu Qing waking up once with their hair in a literal knot and Feng Xin being the one to carefully pick it apart (Mu Qing braids their hair every night thereafter)
Whenever Hua Cheng is sick of Feng Xin's yelling/arguing or whenever he's just bored, he shape-shifts into a female body to freak him out (Mu Qing absolutely eggs this on)
Of the four of them, surprisingly, Xie Lian can make Mu Qing blush the easiest (his secret is carefully guarded and Mu Qing will NEVER sate Feng Xin's nor Hua Cheng's curiosity)
As a canonically beautiful group of men from possibly the most pretentious nation on current history, they are judgemental as FUCK and support one another in this. "I don't want to be mean," Xie Lian begins, followed by Mu Qing saying, "No, no, you're right. That man is hideous."
Feng Xin Practicing Archery Watch is a carefully unspoken and blatantly objectifying ritual amongst Xie Lian, Mu Qing, and Hua Cheng. Feng Xin is the only one blissfully unaware (Hua Cheng: Say a single word, Ming Guang, and your temples are done for).
Mu Qing and Hua Cheng silently and pettily fight frequently over who gets to comb Xie Lian's hair at night. Xie Lian pretends not to notice and keeps a straight face as he hands Feng Xin the comb whenever this happens.
Early in their relationship Hua Cheng, Xie Lian, and Feng Xin routinely come up with careful plans to get Mu Qing to accept affections and gifts without either spooking him or making him question their genuineness (this takes like 300 years to get over).
Ghost City goes through decades of cyclical gossip as to WHICH of the three Hua Cheng is actually in a committed relationship with before settling on the idea that their king just has a harem.
E-Ming is insanely jealous of the other spiritual weapons, but especially Zhanmadao, who isn't even sentient. It's a sword thing.
Feng Xin and E-Ming's relationship is kind of like a dog-person dad forming a bond with the house cat. Begrudging acceptance, then begrudging affection, then full on cat dad behavior while still arguing that he is a dog person.
On days they are feeling particularly synchronous, Feng Xin, Mu Qing, and Hua Cheng bond by talking shit about Qi Rong. And sometimes beating up Qi Rong if he deserves it (he usually does).
Hua Cheng quietly makes sure that Cuo Cuo and Jian Lan are taken care of, and Feng Xin is quietly grateful.
One time, maybe for Hua Cheng's birthday, Mu Qing and Xie Lian agree to re-create their performance for the God Pleasing Festival. Feng Xin participates by happily pushing Hua Cheng over a railing (knowing full well that Hua Cheng let it happen) so Xie Lian can catch him.
Ruoye will randomly curl itself into Hua Cheng's (around his side ponytail in his San Lang form), Mu Qing's (in his ponytail), and Feng Xin's (in his bun) hair
Soft Dom Xie Lian.

My babies⦠mu lianā¦
Xianle Quartet is a top tier polyship not only because of the metric ton of emotional baggage (and the sheer volume of sexual tension and awakening possible between 3 virgins and an effectively celibate fertility god), but also simply because they're all from a country renowned for beauty and pretentiousness, therefore treating impossible beauty standards as the norm.
Xie Lian's canon internal thoughts consist of not infrequently calling people ugly. Can we blame him? He was raised constantly surrounded by and continues to surround himself with devastatingly attractive people. Feng Xin, canonically olive-skinned and handsome, archer's figure. Mu Qing, canonically delicate-appearing and pretty. Hua Cheng, growing up to be tall and savagely beautiful.
Meanwhile, Hua Cheng is a literal fashionista, decked out in every possible silver accessory at any given moment, jingling like a Christmas elf and fabulous while doing it. He throws money around on luxury items just because he can, and his taste is impeccable. Mu Qing straight up destroys his own statues if they're ugly, literally described as wearing luxurious robes that he probably made himself because no one could do it better. They're the divas of this operation. They're judging you, hard, and they want you to know it, so you will.
Xie Lian is the equivalent of the naturally beautiful friend who doesn't wash their face with anything but a bar of soap and comes out looking flawless. He needs absolutely zero fashion sense because he could wear a trash bag and people would think it looks high fashion. Feng Xin is the himbo friend who washes with 10-in-1, yet his skin glistens in the sun like an oiled up ancient greek olympian. He does a normal amount of working out and comes out shaped like Captain America. They're simply God's Favorite, so they don't need to try.
Basically, I picture them as the blindingly hot polycule walking around like the Cullens entering their high-school cafeteria. Hair blowing in an invisible wind. Throwing incredible amounts of shade in the communication array.
They're hot. They're judgmental. They're literally the Mean Girls.
I always thought I might be bad
Now I'm sure that it's true
'Cause I think you're so good
And I'm nothing like you.
Still tied to you
everyone's favorite rivaini

Fandom Policing
I really, really hate fandom policing. I hated it when I was twelve and was so afraid to read slash because OMG DICKS TOUCHING WHAT and I hated it when I was fifteen and was smuggling the yaois under my mattress so I would always have a supply of top notch garbage to read, and I am 24 and I hate it now.
Here is the thing: YOU CONTROL what you take in. I am not responsible for your consumption of Hydra Trash party noncon, I am not responsible for your consumption of pegging smut, and I am not responsible for your consumption of fluffy sickfic. I am not responsible for you consuming anything.Ā
I might be responsible for writing that noncon or pegging or sickfic, but I did not make you read it. I did not hand it to you, I did not give it to you. I created it, and made it available for those who want to enjoy.
If you donāt like it, if you donāt want it, then you donāt have to read it.Ā
That choice made, the choice not to consume a type of fic or art, also means you donāt get to drag the person who wrote it.Ā
That is a damn slippery slope.Ā
Fandom is aĀ āsafe spaceā but not in the way that it protects you from things that you donāt want to see or donāt like or are offended by. Fandom is, and has traditionally been, a space for people to create and explore with out being toldĀ ānoā by outside media. Fandom is where you can find out if you donāt fit in the boxes society tells you to, or it you just really, really like reading about Bucky getting repeatedly rammed in the ass by Hydra agents sans lube.Ā
And no matter how well-meaning you are, you donāt get to tell other fans what they can and cannot write, or draw, or enjoy.Ā
When you start telling people what they can create or enjoy, you invalidate the purpose of fandom, and create a situation where instead of free exploration, we have something similar to mainstream media in which certain tropes or topics are not allowed. This limits the free expression, exploration and innovation so highly prized in fandom.
Maybe what they draw is illegal in five states, and highly restricted in several countries. Maybe itās offensive, maybe itās inaccurate, or just plain bad.
It doesnāt matter.Ā
You donāt get to tell fans how to enjoy fandom. You mind your own path, your write your own fic, you write meta on why x trope is offensive/problematic/bad but you do not tell other fans how to enjoy fandom.
āFandom is a āsafe spaceā but not in the way that it protects you from things that you donāt want to see or donāt like or are offended by. Fandom is, and has traditionally been, a space for people to create and explore with out being told ānoā by outside media.ā Ā
THIS!!!Ā THIS is the TRUE definition of fandom as aĀ āsafe spaceā. It is aĀ āsafe spaceā for creators.
āYou do not tell other fans how to enjoy fandom.ā
This needs 99,999,999 notes.
There comes a point where you, not your teachers and not your parents or guardians, are responsible for what media you consume. Itās not for others to censor themselves to protect you from what you donāt want. Heed warnings. If something doesnāt have warnings, either donāt read/watch/listen to it or search out reviews that will tell you if itās something you would be OK reading/watching/listening to. Descending on a creator or creators and demanding they not create something or shaming them for doing so because you donāt approve is censorship and furthermore, itās hubris of the highest order.

Having "a lot" of followers on tumblr is funny because probably 80% of them are ghost blogs who haven't been on here in like a decade.
It's like, no no, those aren't my followers, that's a graveyard! I'm the caretaker of a thousands of tombs. I love them, but they've been dead for seven years.

Quick fanart of Lucanis from Dragon Age : Veilguard.
Absolutely loved him (and yes, I've finished the game and romanced him for my first run).
about multishipping and hualian
first of all: this post isnāt directed to anyone in particular, i just want to put my thoughts down on here because the way i multiship in tgcf is kind of different from the way i multiship in other media.
so the thing is, i have ships where hualian are not together, but. itās always with "hualian endgame" in mind. i canāt see either of them permanently in another relationship.
i like the thought of feng xin pining on xie lian as a teenager, because he admired him so much. maybe he made it known, maybe not (probably not, imo, for all the respect he had for him), maybe he wasnāt even aware of it. i just love thinking of him having to navigate confusing feelings towards xie lian, the person he swore to follow and protect anyway. his friend. the blurred lines of how close he should be or not! i just love it.
i like the thought of junlian because it is fucked up. i once saw someone say that people who ship junlian "need to reread the book". and i was just like. do you think i ship junlian because theyāre in love? because i want them to live happily ever after with each other? i ship them because itās so fucking angsty, because i love to imagine jun wu breaking xie lian mentally so much that xie lian can only turn to him for comfort (like he did when bwx hugged and comforted him in book 4). the pain is the gain, itās the angst that i love. but of course they are not fit for each other in a healthy way. of course they canāt be happy (at least not xie lian) together.
i like the thought of huaxuan being each otherās only companion in misery. he xuan hating hua cheng but simultaneously admiring him. hua cheng taking his anger and frustration out on he xuan. do i think itās canon? no, but i like imagining it.
i think those are the only ships i have that separate hualian, but like. the point is that the relationships canāt work. hualian will always need and want each other. they canāt be fulfilled and happy without each other in my eyes.
