pick-a-damn-side:
Maybe so, maybe if she were honest she did need a break, maybe everything was beginning to weigh down heavily upon her but while she was still here, she couldn’t just sit back and watch the people she cared about break and struggle. Not when she could play a part to help, regardless of how it might make her feel.
“I’m not asking you to put full responsibility on someone else.” She stated, brows raising some as she eyed him for a few moments. There had been times before where the two hadn’t seen eye to eye, and maybe they didn’t always agree with each other, but one thing Carol couldn’t deny was that he’d gotten them all this far. That being said, they couldn’t expect him to carry them all, always. “Maybe just share the load. You don’t have to do this all by yourself, Rick.”
As much as he didn’t want to admit it - she had a point. Carol usually did. If anyone else were in his place, Rick would have been telling them the same thing. It was harder to put part of that weight off on someone else than to ask to help carry it, however. “I’ll think about it.” It was the best he could promise her in that moment, at least. She may have figured his response’s meaning out on her own, but at least she couldn’t say he’d lied to her or hadn’t given it some thought before deciding to shoulder the weight of it on his own. “But you shouldn’t have t’worry about what I’m doing. You’ve got enough on your own already.”
