no i never loved him (i want to make him laugh i want him to go and live a simple life) of course i can live without him (i almost destroyed the rest of the world because i wanted so badly to save him) i guess there was never a right time (i grew up with his stories and he'll live on to tell mine) it's not like that (he knew my father better than i did and he'll know my daughter too) no i don't think about him anymore (i say his name when he isn't in the room) all we did was fight (he smiled down at me when we won, the blood on his forehead dripped down onto me when we lost) all we did was let each other down (i gave my life like you would have, are you proud of me now) he never trusted me much anyway (he wrote me a letter telling me he was breaking his people out, he followed me into a century he's never lived in knowing we might not make it back) we were apart for longer than we were together (i think he kept my heart when i ripped it out of my chest and slammed it into his hand, i took his shield home and kept it for as long as it takes for the human body to replace itself entirely)

I know I’ve said it before but I will always reblog this as the most tender, pure, selfless scene. It was quiet moments like this where Tony was an amazing human being that make me love Iron Man, not him being a billionaire genius playboy. Just trying to teach a broken person the concept of low stakes, no pain human connection and fun.
