Tomás Cooper was adopted from Chile as an infant, arriving in the U.S. at just six months old. He grew up in the warm, welcoming town of Kismet Harbor, where his family eventually expanded through adoption. With two more siblings from different countries, Tomás was raised in a home where love knew no borders. His parents believed that family wasn’t defined by blood but by the heart—and Tomás carried that belief with him into adulthood.
In school, Tomás was never the top of his class, but he was always steady, kind, and deeply engaged. What he lacked in academic ambition, he made up for in warmth and connection. He built strong bonds with friends and teachers alike, becoming known as the kind of student who stuck around after class just to chat. It was no surprise when he earned the affectionate nickname “teacher’s pet”—and wore it proudly.
From a young age, Tomás knew exactly where his heart belonged: with children. He pursued a degree in childcare and development, earned his foster care license, and began working in a local daycare while fostering his very first child. He threw himself into caregiving with open arms and an open heart.
One night at a bar, a quiet glance and an easy smile sparked something unexpected. That’s how he met Jet. Their connection was instant, magnetic—even if it came with complications. Just when things began to deepen between them, Jet revealed he was married. Hurt and betrayed, Tomás walked away. But time has a way of circling back. After Jet’s divorce, they reconnected—and this time, it stuck. They fell in love all over again, and eventually, they married.
Over the last two decades, Tomás and Jet have dedicated their lives to fostering children—newborns, teens, and everything in between. Some stayed for a short time, others found forever homes elsewhere, and a few became permanent members of their family. Several even went on to college, chasing dreams made possible by the stability and love Tomás helped provide.
Now in a quieter phase of life, Tomás remains in Kismet Harbor—steady, gentle, and always full of love. His life may seem simple from the outside, but it’s rich with meaning. He’s a caregiver, a constant, and a reminder that home isn’t a place—it’s a feeling you build together.
