ok so the application i use is either photopea or ibispaint , both work although i personally prefer photopea ! ibispaint doesn ' t support animated dividers and it ' s harder to make colorings in ibis as well ( normally ) so keep that in mind ^_^

i ' m going to be using photopea for this tut ... so instructions will be more suited towards photopea users ...

before you start , try to have a vision of the type of divider you want to make ! for example , what color scheme do you want ? are there any motifs that you ' d like to include ? is there a specific character you want to center your dividers around ?

also make sure to check the little box that says " transform controls " ! this helps you move your divider pieces around easier :>

so normally , i start off by opening my photopea and clicking new project , then i pick the size titled " twitter header " to start ! you can change the size later :3

next , go to either a resource rentry ( examples include rentry.co/crusher and rentry.co/ulzzang ) or find your divider pieces right here on tumblr ! you can search up " rentry divider " to get some good ones ^_^ i just pick one that appeals to me most atm ...

i ' ve decided to make piano themed dividers , so i picked out this little piano lace thing !

normally , the first divider i pick out is the one i center the piece as a whole around ^_^

just copy and paste your selected divider into photopea !

after this , make sure to remove the background layer so your divider is transparent !

extra : you may want to explore some stylization options ! if you look at the top bar and find the option titled " layer " , and then go to layer style , you ' ll find a bunch of different effects , such as stroke and drop shadow ( which are the ones i use most frequently ) ! play around with these for a bit :> it helps you get to know the platform better !

just keep copy and pasting different dividers into photopea and try to experiment with what combinations of dividers look best ^_^

i like the way this combination looks together , so i ' ve decided to go with this !

next is the fun part ... picking out pngs !

honestly , it takes quite a bit to try to find the right ones . you just need to keep searching and searching ... if it exists , it ' s a png somewhere on tumblr ! you can just type _____ png into the tumblr search bar ~

i like to pick my pngs that i want to use first , then arrange them in the interface :3 i normally only do one side first , i ' ll teach you how to mirror things in photopea later without mirroring the entire project !

here ' s the png arrangement i ' ve picked ! next , you ' re going to merge all of the different pngs into one layer :3

then , to make the mirrored version of the png arrangement , open another new project , also the " twitter header " size ! drag your pngs into the new project !

then , go to image > transform > flip horizontally ! you should have a mirrored version of your png assortment ! drag the mirrored version of the png group from the second project to your original project !

it should look something like this ~

next , coloring ! i normally use gradient maps because they ' re easy to make yourself :3

click layer > new adjustment layer > gradient map !

kind of just play around with the gradient map interface to see how it works ... weh i ' m bad at explaining

i picked a gradient map with three stops : the first one is black , the second one is a dusty purple , and the third one is white !

click ok when you ' re done !

this is the divider so far ! make sure to export this :3 the top divider is now done !

to make the bottom one , just use the transform tool that was described earlier , but instead click the flip vertically option or whatever it ' s called uh ...

the above is the final result ! these divs are f2u with credits ! ask questions as needed and happy editing ^_^
