Personally what I think is interesting about the stuff Doc Mitchell returns to you is the fact that he has anything to return to you at all. Considering a bunch of raiders stood around and watched you get killed, your “corpse” wasn’t looted for valuables. The Fallout games can and have been reduced to a “loot and shoot”, you kill people and take their stuff. How much dynamite did you get from the Powder Gangers you killed in the first quest of the game? How soon did you forget being buried with your weapon, with what little belongings you owned? Benny and the Khans treat the dead with more honour and respect than the player does.

Chance is also buried with his knife. These two facts together say to me that the Khans very much believe in allowing the dead to travel to the afterlife with weapons in tow. Maybe it had something to do with The Death Hand himself

Imagine if you were a rich housewife suspicious that your husband was cheating on you and you hired a private investigator to follow him and the PI came back with a ream of polaroids of himself railing your husband. Wouldn't that be fucked up
