ok, here’s my uquiz: which type of love interest would you be in a dating simulator? :)
Took Ollie to the vet today. And I'm not gonna say who. But ONE of us had a panic attack immediately after the checkup and wouldn't get out of the sink
it was a difficult morning for everybody
There is one very important thing I need people without major dietary restrictions to understand: the distress caused by allergies, celiac disease, and other food restrictions is largely not about the food.
Do I miss some foods I can't eat anymore without getting sick? Sure, but that's not what really bothers me. What bothers me is being excluded from a huge portion of human social life of which food is a crucial component. What bothers me is the stress and social stigma of trying to figure out what I can safely eat. What bothers me is the amount of extra work and cost that is required of me to identify, obtain, and prepare safe foods. What bothers me is people treating my needs like a nuisance, as though I chose to be like this - as though their brief inconvenience to check an ingredients list is unreasonable, when I deal with this every day of my life forever.
I don't miss the food that much. I miss not having to worry about what I eat. I miss freedom. I miss when trying new foods and new restaurants was fun instead of a minefield. I miss not having to plan my entire life around the need for safe foods.
Food is such a basic human need, and a lot of people don't really need to think about it. When your danger foods can be anywhere and everywhere, suddenly your entire life revolves around avoiding them, and it massively sucks. You get used to it and it's not a big deal most of the time, but then you go to a new restaurant, or your office has a potluck, or you've been invited to a party and suddenly it feels just as miserable and exhausting as it ever has.
Was driving with my grandmother and in broken English she says “no eyes… no nose… no face. Don’t trust.” To which I looked around wildly in search of this omen of ill portend.
Cybertruck. It was a cybertruck.

what is this genre of photos called
honestly I am not inherently opposed to the idea of an OoT remake as much as I lack the trust in game studios to make good ones. just in general.
the end of my ranked journey. I think I can still go higher but TE has the nicest looking png lol

There are lots of reasons why fandom is "quieter" now than it used to be. Some theories are more compelling to me than others, and they all have a different scale of impact. We'll never know for sure, of course, but I like to think about it. Thus, this poll.
Of the list below, which reason do you find most compelling or do you think had the biggest impact?
New entrants to fandom don't know the old ways
fandom olds didn't teach the newcomers how to fandom
covid/surge in fandom due to quarantine and lockdowns
"antis" and other harassment campaigns against creators
creators posting complaints about comments (people worry about commenting wrong)
rise of discord popularity - fandom is walled off from each other
tumblr porn ban and other reasons people left the site
capitalism turning fandom into a passive "view and move on" commodity
rules from social media impacting fan culture (eg. don't comment on old posts)
general state of the world / burnout
social anxieties in an increasingly complex online culture
"surveillance state" worries and not wanting to be perceived
This is an incomplete list, so if your most compelling reason isn't listed, feel free to add it in the notes.
I think the big factors are the growing size of fandom (reason 3), and purity culture scaring fans into 'safer', more passive behaviour (reason 4).
But some other things I've seen:
a switch to ephemeral communication - texting/chat instead of email, messages instead of asks, discord instead of blogging (kind of reason 6, but broader)
age segmentation and increasing discomfort with talking to older/younger people, which limits options for mentorship, community, and passing on of culture (a reason for reasons 1 and 2)
the loss of seasonal TV shows, which allowed fandoms to build on a longterm, regular schedule, with everyone watching at the same time and then discussing it over the next week. The netflix model is a VERY different experience! (These shows often acted as social connectors even if people were primarily in non-TV fandoms!)
the LOSS of walled off spaces! I think the loss of fandom-specific archives and forums has made it harder to be weird and intense with each other. People are trying to fandom on TWITTER! You need a quiet space where everyone has been marinating for a while if you want people to regularly get passionate about side character 37. Even Tumblr allows posts to spread far past their intended audience. Which I LIKE, but makes it harder to reach certain levels of unhinged
I love when Arabic loanwords get incorporated into other languages and they keep the al- suffix. I'm studying the gebra. It's a real the batross around my neck.

I need to really double down on mandarin to get into chinese native dogs the auto translator calls blue coated dogs "smurfs"
When there's a very obvious bloodstain in the hardwood kitchen floor, but the house is 30k under expected price
I feel like the picture is necessary to understand just how not subtle this is.
it's fine
I’d like to point out that the colour red has more positive than negative meanings.
