I insist that the main issues here are the lighting, texture work and posing of Link's model, not the art style. Although the shift away from cel shading is jarring, too.
Maybe the trailer was just thrown together quickly due to recent leaks, but did they really expect people wouldn't complain about this? Link is unnaturally lit compared to his surroundings. His model is hovering over the bed and posed with rigid limbs to prevent clipping. His hair looks stringy, the fabrics look stiff, and the natural materials (the leaves and straw) look low detail. It's just not a visual that holds up to intense scrutiny via social media.
Funnily enough, Link's home in the original was also poorly realized, but at least it was 1998. You could get away with things like fixed camera angles and shark.jpg back then.
