Lab Rats is a human au where Cobs has created 14 specimen as test subjects. Basically a "created in a lab" au. Some have powers relating to their objects, while some of them don't. Unlike Cobs and his family, the subjects have object names such as OJ, Taco, etc.

After all Tessa's hard work, Bot is finally ready to be booted up.

Date: ------------
It has been a month now since I began this project. I can now officially say I have (almost) finished my work on Bot. I am so excited, and a little nervous, to turn them on and see how I did. Obviously there will still be some kinks to work out, I’m not perfect.
I still haven’t told the kids about it. Thankfully they haven’t stumbled across it while I was busy. I love seeing them curious about everything but they need to stop getting into my things, I’m serious. I worry they will not take to it well. I’m really trying to make this a good home for them, I don’t want to make them any more uncomfortable than they already are.
Currently Fin has them occupied though I wonder how long that will last.
Either way, this is the last check I have to do so it's better to get it over and done with now rather than later. There’s never going to be a time these kids aren’t in the house (except when we put them in school but who knows how long that will be).
I’ll update when the check is complete.

The robot soon opened its eyes. Its blank sockets were now replaced with a softer look, with pupils this time. Tessa made sure to include that, its soulless stare before would certainly scare the kids. She hoped that this gentle minty gaze would be nicer.
Silence hung in the room as the robot looked around at its surroundings. It opened its mouth next but simply sat there with it open.
“You can speak. What is it?” Tessa nudged gently with her words hoping it would respond, though she had no idea if it actually knew how. It didn’t have a voice box when she found it. This would probably be the first time it used one.
The robot then noticed Tessa, seemingly for the first time as its eyes glowed with shock for a split second. It observed her then spoke. “Where…. W-who..are..?”
Tessa was immediately overjoyed by the words they were able to string together, though a little disappointed by their seemingly toddler speech, but at the same time excited it could speak at all. Their voice was so soft and small, like a child's. “You’re in my study. My name is Tessa, I fixed you.” She tried to stick to simple sentences at first as to not confuse them.
The robot child blinked. It then pointed to itself and asked, “You?”
Tessa chuckled. “No no, you would say ‘me’.” The child seemed puzzled.
“Me,” It repeated. Then it pointed to the woman, “Tessa,” it said.
“Yes! Tessa, that’s my name.”
“My name? What is….my name?” The child asked.
Tessa simply blinked in response. She knew they had a name, but it wasn’t any better than ‘Taco’ or ‘Paper’. She felt guilty for the treatment they all had been given. She wished she had come up with a better name than, “Bot. Your name is Bot. But- but you can change it if you like.”
"Bot,” after hearing their own name they seemed to smile. “Bot!” they repeated again happily. Tessa was glad they liked it at least.

The test was a success! They even know how to talk all by themself. I’ve been teaching them some words and phrases but sometimes they act like they already know them. Maybe they remember hearing them back in the lab….I hope they don’t remember anything else from the lab though.
I’m writing this just after I finished testing their speech and movement further. They’re still in my study for now. Soon we might go outside.
Further tests at another date, or should I say lessons. Updates to come.

A few days pass after Tessa boots the robot back up. Their speech continues to improve rapidly.
“Alright, Bot. Are you ready for your next lesson?” Tessa asks them.
“Yes!” they reply with a smile.
“Great. Let me just update my log real quick,” she tells them as she turns around to face her desk.
Bot, in eager boredom, looks around the room some more. It was messy as it always was. As much as they enjoyed Tessa’s company they couldn’t help but yearn for something better to do. Tessa was nice to them but this lab was boring.
They scanned the room hoping for something to do. Then they spot it. Tessa left the door open. She usually shut and locked it, but this time it was ever so slightly cracked open.
Bot carefully stood up and crept towards the open door. Tessa didn’t even notice them as they slipped out.
The hall they entered was bright. Their eyes quickly adjusted however. Then they stopped as a small person stood in front of them. She was short, much shorter than Bot or Tessa. And she had white hair that looked soft to the touch.
Bot was immediately nervous. They've never met anyone besides Tessa, but Tessa was nice, so maybe this person would be nice too? “Hello,” they started, trying to be friendly. “My name is Bot. What’s your name?”
Just as they finished their sentence, Tessa came rushing out of the room in dismay. She could see Marshmallow’s face of utter distress. She grabbed onto the robot to keep it from doing anything she feared it might do.
“I can explain,” Tessa sounded desperate.
“What? Why does it… Why does it look like Bow?!”
Tessa looked at the robot. It did look like Beau, strangely. It made her wonder if this was always meant to replace her. But now wasn't the time to think about that.
"Marsh..." Tessa started slowly. "This is Bot. They used to be Dr. Cobs' robot before I fixed them."
"Robot?" The girl questioned. "Like the one that killed Bow?" She said in distress.
"Bot won't hurt anyone anymore. I fixed them..." Tessa could see how uneasy Marshmallow was. "Please, just give them a shot?"
The white haired girl looked at Tessa. She could tell the desperation in her eyes. So, against Marsh's better judgment, she stepped closer to the robot.
"My name is Marshmallow." She spoke softly.
"I'm Bot," they answered. They then bent down to Marshmallow's level. "It's nice to meet you."
Marsh chuckled at their politeness. "It's..uh, nice to meet you too." She paused for a moment before slowly continuing with, "Do you want to be friends?"
Tessa stood shocked at the girl's kind offer. She also felt overwhelmingly relieved when Bot answered with, "Of course!"
I can't even begin to express my joy. Marshmallow and Bot meet yesterday (against my will) and got along surprisingly well.
She even began to introduce them to the other kids.
The other's seemed weary at first but gladly accepted them after only a few minutes. Especially Lightbulb.
Some, like OJ, continued to be a little more weary. Especially after Marsh explained how they were made by Cobs.
And then there was Paintbrush. They didn't say a word but I could tell on their face they wanted nothing to do with the robot. I don't blame them, they witnessed first hand what it could do.
I will be closely monitoring Bot's behavior, but with luck everything will continue to go smoothly.
CreatorNotes: Finally this chapter is done. I had such a hard time with this one. There were times where I was tempted to completely start over. But I pushed through and here it is!
I might actually make a part two to this
This marks the end of the first part. Nothing will really change but the next few chapters I'm really excited about

Bow always knew ghosts were real but she never planned to be one.
This is canon btw
You can read this on Wattpad or Ao3 if you'd prefer
TW for death, getting shot, mourning, funerals, and ghosts.
Bow opened her eyes. A blinding white light filled her vision. It took her a few seconds for her eyes to adjust to it. She blinked, looking around to see where she was and quickly realizing she didn't know. Nothing around her she recognized. It kind of looked like the lab but not quite.
There was a bed in front of where she stood. From the edge she could see that a person was laying there. She instinctively reached out to touch them for some reason, until she noticed the other person in the room. It was a woman with dark hair and gray strands in it. She was crying over the person in the bed. 'Why was she so sad?', Bow wondered.
The girl walked around the bed to see this person more clearly. The lady in the bed had long pink hair and- wait a second. This was her! The person in the bed was Bow. She knew because of the hair but she could also just sense it when she got closer. This person was her.
This other her was fast asleep. Her eyes were closed and she wasn't making any noises. Was she, like, having an out of body experience or something? Why was she asleep? She couldn't remember even coming here.
What was she doing last? She was escaping the lab with the others, right? They were so close too, but then Paintbrush went back to try and find Ms. Tessa. Bow followed them but she couldn't remember anything after that.
And who was this woman that seemed so sad that she was sleeping? Nothing was making much sense right now.
The lady then lifted her head and Bow immediately realized who this was. This was her mom! She looked just like the girl on the bed except for her hair and her age. But Bow was sure this was her mom. She hadn't seen her since she was six.
Her friends had told her that her mom was still out there looking for her. They told her that she didn't abandon her like Bow had thought. It hurt to think the only person in the world that was supposed to love her unconditionally had given her up for... well, she assumed money.
But Bow was wrong! She was stolen from her mother, not abandoned! It still hurt, but now she knew her mom still loved and wanted her. And now that she was here, they could be together again.
Bow began to talk to her, "Mom? Mommy, I-I'm right here. Do you see me?", but she didn't answer. She just kept looking at the bed and crying. "Mom! Can't you see I'm right here? Look at me!"
When her mother still didn't respond, she turned to wake her own body up. She tried to shake her, yell at her, but nothing worked.
Bow huffed. "Why isn't this working!" she exclaimed.
"Because you're dead. Duh," said a familiar voice. The pink haired girl turned around to see the ghost of a boy who called himself Dough.
Ever since she was a little kid, Bow had the ability to see ghosts. It first started when her father died. Her mother would find her talking to no one. It didn't strike her as unusual at first, tons of kids have imaginary friends. But then Bow started saying things there was no way she would know on her own. She would repeat where things were hidden, conversations her parents had in private, or other things no six year old should be knowing about.
Bow would then get regular check ups at a special doctors office. Then she would go missing, last seen at the nearby playground.
In the lab, she continued to see the supernatural. Dough was one of the kids she would see the most often. She found him very annoying.
"What are you doing here, Dough?" she asked with annoyance.
"Did you not hear me? You're dead."
Bow scoffed. "Yeah, like I believe that. Nice try, bread boy. I'm just too smart for you."
Dough blinked, uninterested. "Whatever. Why do you think mom is so sad then?"
Bow looked back at her mom. She was unreasonably sad. Was Bow really dead? That couldn't be true, right?
"It took me some time too." Dough leaned on the slightly taller girl. Bow quickly pushed him off.
"I don't remember dying," Bow whispered.
"Neither did I. It'll come back to you eventually. 'Takes awhile." Dough spoke as if this was common knowledge.
But Dough had to be wrong. It didn't make sense. Bow couldn't be dead. They just escaped the lab, she was supposed to go live a normal life. This couldn't be true! It couldn't! What about her life? Her friends? Her mom?
Bow's breathing began to quicken as she started to panic. She just turned eighteen, she was supposed to live a normal life as an adult now. Her childhood was already stolen from her, it wasn't fair that her adulthood was too. This was supposed to be her chance, but now...
Suddenly, a few small moments began to come back to her. She was with Tessa and Paintbrush when a pain she had never felt before erupted from her thigh. She screamed, it hurt so bad. Her vision filled with red and tears. She remembered Paintbrush's scared face. She tried to swallow the pain for them.
But she didn't die then. And that didn't explain why she was in this weird place either.
She turned to Dough, now a little calmer knowing more of the story. She still didn't fully believe she was actually dead, but her question felt more important to ask. "Where am I?" she asked the boy.
"The hospital. It's like this place where adults fix you if you get hurt." Bow only made a slightly concerned face. "Like that Dr. Fizz fella's office, except it's the whole building. People die here sometimes so I guess that's what happened to you."
Bow frowned. "I don't want to be dead."
"No one does," Dough responded.
The taller girl breathed deep. It hurt to think her life was over before it even started. This didn't feel real. She was so sure she and the kids would escape one day and live happy lives as real humans rather than just some doctor's experiments.
Speaking of, "Do you know what happened to Marsh and the others?" Bow asked the little ghost as he floated lightly off the ground.
"They're fine, I think. They escaped with you so they should be."
A smile was finally brought to the girls face as she thought about her little friends living like she used to before she was taken to the lab. "That's great! Where-"
Bow blinked for a second and suddenly the whole building she was in was gone and she was standing in grass, "-are they.. What??"
The young lady looked around confused. She stood in a large open grassy place surrounded by trees in the distance. Rocks were placed all around delicately like they were placed there on purpose for some special reason.
"Oh yeah, that happens sometimes." Dough told her as he sat down on the grassy floor. "Time works differently when you're dead," he said like it was no big deal.
Bow had only been dead for what felt like a few minutes and she already hated it. She barely had time to process her own death before she was somewhere new entirely, somewhere she's also never been before.
Dough watched his companion's face contort in a way that made her look utterly pitiful as she looked around. "This is a graveyard. You're probably at your funeral," he told her.
That word brought her back to when her father died. She and her mom went to his funeral then too, though she didn't remember much at the time. She did remember being confused when everyone there kept telling her how sorry they were that her dad was dead when he had been talking to her the whole time.
Now that she thought about it, this place did look familiar.
She turned around to see many people gathered around one of those stones. She could see words written on it as she stepped closer to it. It read, “Beau Baxter. Jun. 1st, 2000 - Jul. 24th, 2018. Loving daughter taken from us too soon. May all your dreams come true in your sleep.”
She found the words sweet but she didn't know who Beau Baxter was. Her name was Bow not Beau. Maybe they just misspelled it.
Next to it was another stone with the her father's name written on it.
Bow turned around to get a look at all the faces she didn't recognize who were gathered here because of her death. She saw her mother was talking to someone. She decided to go over to see her.
Her steps were light, like she was walking on air. There was never a shadow under her, she found that unnerving.
As she got closer she realized that her mom was talking to Marshmallow! Marsh was her best friend in the lab. Even though she was practically a baby to her, she was her closest friend and it hurt to think that she left her behind.
"Marsh, can you hear me?" She didn't answer her.
Bow decided to stick around as the funeral ended and everyone left. She stood over her own grave cursing herself for getting killed. Now Marsh was going to be all alone. She felt terrible.
"Bow?" came a small voice. Bow turned around to see Marshmallow right in front of her. Could she see her? "I don't know if you can hear me, but...." The little girl looked down as tears formed in her eyes.
"Oh, Marshy. It's totally fine, girl. You're gonna get to grow big and strong like me, and make new friends and- honestly I'm jealous, haha!"
Marshmallow couldn't hear her, but it was almost like she was waiting for her to finish before she spoke. "I just wanted to say that I'll miss you forever. One day we'll meet again and we can be best friends again then, yeah?"
"Of course!"
Marsh let silence pass between them. She looked a little calmer now. "Well... I should be going now." She then turned around to leave. Bow instinctively reached out to grab her shoulder. Her hand only passed though but she could see Marsh shiver as it passed. She hoped she knew she was here for her.
She hated that she didn't get to see the others too.
Bow didn't know what to do next. Should she try and find peace? She could feel the warm light from the sun on her back, it felt warm and nice. She kind of just wanted to walk straight into it.
But on the other hand, she didn't want to leave her friends without someone to watch over them. Not like she could be very good at that, but still.
As she debated what to do, time skipped ahead again.
She could see Marshmallow in a kitchen with a few of the others. They were laughing and making a mess. They looked so happy, this was exactly what Bow wanted to see.
Maybe they didn't need her to look after them after all. Still, she couldn't decide.

Tessa writes down how the kids have been doing, her thoughts, and hopes. While also preparing to go to Beau's funeral by herself.
This is canon btw

TW for past trauma, bullying, death of a loved one, and funerals
Date: ----------
It's been a few weeks since the kids escaped the lab. I haven't had a lot of time to write here in a while. The kids have all been doing really well. They still, of course, need time to get used to everything. Things changed so fast for them, I'm sure that was really hard to deal with. I wished things were different for these poor kids, but I'm going to make sure they are all taken care of.
On a quick personal note: I have been working a little on that robot we...well, stole from Dr. Cobs. Bot, I think? I haven't had much time to really sit with it but I have had a little time to go over its code. It will probably take a few more days, or weeks, to be able to have them fully up and running.
I haven't told any of the kids about it yet. They don't know it's in the house, I have it in my study right now. I'm worried it would freak them out to see it again.
Back to the children: Fin and I have basically been these kids' parents. Parents to fourteen pre-teens. I feel exhausted just writing that.
It's going to really suck, but eventually we're going to have to split them up. I talked a bit to Carmen and Cabby about relocating the kids, they offered to take one or two. But that's still not enough.
It feels wrong to "pick and choose" which kids we'll be taking but Fin and I have been talking about this for a while now. We plan on keeping about three, that's probably the most we can handle for an extended period of time. Lightbulb, Taco, and Marshmallow have been what we're thinking about.
Lightbulb is a joy to have around but she can be a bit too much sometimes. I just worry how other families will treat her. Taco is very...sensative. She's quiet and doesn't do much but sit outside or in her room. I don't think she's friends with any of the other kids. I want to try and help her, I was a lot like her when I was young. And poor Marshmallow has been through so much, I just want to keep a close eye on her.
Just a few days ago I caught Knife "playing with her" as he called it. I know these kids are obviously traumatized and that can lead to them acting "out of the norm", but I worry a bit about how Knife treats her. He seemed to understand after I talked with him about how his behavior wasn't kind and he was going to really hurt Marshmallow, but I still worry.
- Note: Knife was grabbing Marshmallow's arm rather aggressively. I think he said something to her too but I couldn't hear. He seemed to think it was funny when she yelled at him to stop. She was crying by the time we pulled them away from each other.
Kind of unrelated, Beau's funeral is in a few days. I hate funerals. I can't stan- Funeral's are my least favorite place to be. Going to my mother's- I just don't like being there. But I told her mother, Rebecca, that I would go. She asked me because, in her words, "You brought my daughter to me." I felt I owed it to her.
I'll probably add more when I go.
Date: ----------
What am I supposed to do?? Today Marshmallow asked if she could go to Beau's funeral....
This is mostly my fault, I mentioned going while the children were around. I really shouldn't have done that.
I was in the kitchen making food for everyone. Well, I was helping, Fin usually does dinner. The kids were all scattered around the house, as they usually are.
Then Marshmallow entered the kitchen. I thought she might have needed me, so I turned around and asked what she wanted.
She responds with, and I quote, "I want to go to Beau's funeral."
I was honestly stunned for a second. This is how the conversation went (thank you Fin):
M: I want to go to Beau's funeral.
T: I- What?
M: I want to go.
T: No, Marshmallow, you don't. Funerals aren't fun. You wouldn't wan-
M: I want to go! It's not fair! She was my friend! Sh-she'd want me to be there.
T:...Marsh...You've been through so much. I know you think you're doing this for Beau, but I think it would just be too much for you right now. I'm sorry.
M: No! Beau DIED! Don't you understand!? She's dead because of....Please, please Tessa! I want to see her again, and say goodbye.....Please? I'll be good.
How could I say no to that? Seriously. This will be my fault if something goes wrong but I guess I just have to live with that. I'm a terrible mom
Date: ----------
Yesterday was the funeral. It was a typical funeral, nothing out of the ordinary. Seeing Beau in that casket, though...I felt...
I really felt like I let my mom down. It was so jarring seeing that little girl I saw on TV so many years ago as almost a full adult in that lab gown. I know it was a meaningless, little girl promise I made to her, but I felt like I owed it to her. Like if I could save these kids, if I could save Beau, I could, I don't know, save my mom? Bring her back to life? That's so idiotic. But seeing her like this, I really felt like I let my mom down. I couldn't even save a little girl. What is wrong with me? (Save this for therapy)
Marshmallow did surprisingly well, I think. I'm not really the expert on how one is supposed to act at a funeral, but she was very respectful.
I hated having her see Beau's body, but she insisted on it. It was very...bittersweet I think is the right word. She gave a quick kiss on the cheek, said something quietly to her, and was on her way. Afterwards I asked what she said to her, she said, "I'll see you again someday."
Later on, I caught her talking to Rebecca. She introduced herself as one of the kids that were with her in the lab. She told her they were best friends. She said that Bow was never hurt too bad, that the lab was mostly just boring. That got a sad laugh out of the two of them.
"Bow was a good person. She looked out for us when we needed her. And she missed you, a lot," she said. Rebecca began to cry. I can't imagine how she must be feeling right now.
Before we left, Marshmallow gave Rebecca a handmade bracelet. She said it was for her, Beau, and that she wanted her mom to have it. Rebecca immediately hugged the small girl and thanked her. I asked, and Marshmallow told me Lightbulb had made the bracelets as a gift for escaping. Beau never got hers.
We returned home after the funeral and had a long nap. I never want to do that again.
Pickle retells what happened in the days after Knife returned from the hospital.

Dear Journal,
This is Pickle. Ms. Tessa (the doctor with the green hair. Is that color natural? Is she like us??) gave me this journal to write my thoughts in. She said I might want to "vent" since yesterday was kinda rough. So that's what I'm doing.
I don't really know what to write so I guess I'll start with the day Knife came home from the hospital.
It was about a week ago? I think? I remember I was so excited. I ran right up to hug him when he stepped through the door. I was so worried about him this whole time! It was only a few days he was gone, but still.
He scared the shit outta me when he stabbed himself in the lab. It was really scary. And then when he passed out and was put in that big loud car (Ms. Tessa called it an ambulance). I thought he died!
But now he was home, and all was well. I showed him around the house. I showed him Fin's bird. Knife thought it looked funny.
I noticed while we were walking around that he had a bit of a limp now. It must be because of where he got stabbed, so I tried not to worry too much about it. When he's all healed up it will probably go away anyway.
Knife got himself hurt all the time back in the lab and it was never that much of a deal. Ms. (wait, I think she told me to just call her Tessa) Tessa says that injuries are still a big deal even if he acts like it's not. She sounded really angry when she said "he". I think she was talking about Dr. Cobs....
I made sure to keep a space clear for Knife to sleep but Tessa said he'll be sleeping in an actual bed. "In the guest room," she said. I asked if I could stay with him. She said I could but I had to be gentle because his stab wound was still healing.
Anyway, a week went by and everything was normal. Knife was healing good. Tessa said his wound should be fine in a few months or so (still a long timeeeee). So that was good to hear. Knife was just glad to be home with his friends, and we were happy to see him.
Yesterday was movie night. All of us would gather around the couch and watch a movie Fin turned on (not all of us always go, but I do!). There was no room on the couch so me and Knife leaned on the back. It wasn't the most comfortable but it was fine.
Have I ever said how funny Knife is? He's really smart too! Probably one of the smartest of us. He was good at making jokes about the movie.
Anyway, when the movie was like half way through Knife went to the bathroom... and um.... He didn't come back, even once the movie was done. I thought that was weird and so did Tessa and Fin, so Tessa went to check on him.
I don't.... He didn't answer her and it really freaked me out...and...and then Fin found blood on the floor....

Knife leaned his body up against the back of the couch, same as Pickle. It was a little uncomfortable but Knife knew how excited Pickle was to watch this movie with him.
It didn't take long until that uncomfortable turned into almost unbearable. He hadn't realized it until just then but his side was killing him.
Knife gently tucked his hand under his hoodie and felt his bandage, slowly enough for Pickle not to notice. He pulled his hand back to see blood.
"Shit," he thought to himself. He must've been playing too rough outside earlier. He looked around the room to see everyone was silently focused on the TV in front of them. Knife suddenly felt guilty. He really didn't want to disturb them, they were so happy. Things finally felt right, and Knife had to ruin it with his stupid injuries. If he had never stabbed himself, he wouldn't have to worry his friends, they would've followed Tessa's plan to get out, and everyone would've been safe, and Bow wouldn't have-.....
He took a shaky, quiet breath. He would get hurt a lot in the lab, he was sure he could take care of his injury himself.
He tried to ignore it fat first but it only hurt worse. Eventually he got the nerve to poke Pickle on the arm to get his attention. "I'm going to the bathroom," he said. Pickle quickly nodded and let Knife walk past him. Knife held his side tight as he made his way to the bathroom down the hall.
Knife quickly turned the light on, locked the door behind him, and took his hoodie off. In the light he could see a small stain of blood that was soaking through his clothes. He grimaced at it.
He then turned his attention to the medicine cabinet. It had a bunch of things for injuries in there. Knife knew because he once saw Tessa give Nickel a bandaid for a scratch he got.
Unfortunately the cabinet was taller than he hoped. As he stretched over the sink he felt a pain in his side, a bad one. Knife recoiled, holding his sides with his arms. Did he just make it worse? He carefully lifted his arms to see more blood. It was turning his white bandages a deep red.
He huffed. He needed to get to the cabinet. He was aiming for the white box with a red cross on it, it was on the top shelf. Even though it hurt, and he had to go on his tip toes, he managed to grab the kit.
Knock, knock, knock!
He turned his head to the door to hear Tessa's voice. "Is someone in there?"
Knife looked to his side awkwardly before responding, "Uh- y-yeah."
"Oh, Knife. Okay, sorry to bother you."
"Its-its fine." He listened to her footsteps get quieter. When she was gone he let out a sigh of relief. He couldn't let anyone know he hurt himself again. What would they think? Stupid attention seeking Knife, always getting himself hurt on purpose. He hasn't changed since the lab at all!
He didn't like being a burden but he knew he was. He always was. It was different in the lab. They all loved it when he argued with Dr. Cobs or got himself in trouble on purpose. They loved it because Dr. Cobs hated it! Anything to make him disappointed in him, and he usually was.
There was a time, however, where Dr. Cobs was proud of him. He was stronger than his peers, smarter too. His powers were the most promising, as Dr. Cobs would say. Knife didn't like to think he liked his compliments.
But Dr. Cobs was gone. He couldn't bother them anymore, and Knife didn't need to show off. He needed to grow up and stop getting in trouble. They weren't in the lab anymore. And Tessa and Fin always looked so sad when he did something wrong.
Just a few days ago he was playing with Marshmallow. She didn't like it, as usual. She didn't like anything he did. When she yelled at him to leave her alone, Tessa and Fin came rushing over, concern written all over their faces. Then they looked at Knife with anger.
He had never seen this look directed at him from an adult before. Before when he was like this Dr. Cobs would usually just roll his eyes, Dr. Parker would probably try to separate them both, and Dr. Spoon and Dr. Berry usually wouldn't do anything. None of them were ever angry at him before. It scared him.
Tessa's look soon subsided. She then gave him a lecture on how he was wrong for playing how he was. He was sure they would hate him if they found out.
Knife was exhausted. He sat down on the floor. Leaning his back on the wall, he opened the kit to find the roll of bandages he was looking for.
Then a knock came from the door and Tessa's voice rang through, now more worried than before. "Knife? Are you okay in there?"
He didn't answer this time. He tried, parting his lips to speak, but they closed shut as he winced in pain once more. It felt worse every time.
"...Knife?" Tessa tried again but Knife didn't respond.
____________________________________________
Knife wasn't responding.
Fin walked over to Tessa to whisper to her about the blood. I know that's what he told her because her face looked so scared I thought she was going to cry. She then turned back to the door more panicked than before.
"Knife, open the door, please. We only want to help you," is what she said. But he wasn't listening.
At this point the movie was over and everyone's attention was focused on the bathroom door. I then decided to walk over to ask what was going on.
Fin immediately brushed me off, telling me, "not right now," or something. I have a right to know what's going on with my friend!
"What's wrong with Knife?" I repeated louder this time. I remember this because after I said that, Tessa turned back at me with a look that made me think that Knife was going to die!
She then told me (quietly so the others couldn't hear) that Knife was hurt and they were trying to get him to open the door so they could help. She then asked, "Do you think you can get him out?"
I didn't know what she meant at first. Then she asked if I could convince him to open the door. I wasn't sure if I could but I would try.
____________________________________________
Knife's breathing became more shallow as he started to get more tired. He was in a lot of pain and his hands shook as he carefully took his bandages off. They ripped away from his skin and the cold air of the bathroom only made the pain worse.
He whimpered as he heard Tessa calling him from outside the door.
Time passed as he tried to wrap the new bandages around his waist, it wasn't tight enough. He soon heard Pickle's voice from beyond the door.
"Knife?" His voice was quiet as if he was trying not to disturb someone sleeping. "Do you need help?" He didn't respond. "I'm here if you do, y'know? So are Ms. Tessa and Fin. They just want to help. T-they're like the doctors in the lab, like Dr. Parker and Dr. Fizz? They're gonna help."
"Leave me alone, Pickle. I'm fine," Knife's dry voice cracked as he spoke. "I don't need any help."
He was so sure of himself. Knocking on the door soon became pounding as Tessa, Fin, and Pickle begged Knife to open the door. They sounded scared.
The longer this went on the weaker Knife got. The loose bandages that were wrapped around his wound were doing nothing for his blood loss. His eyes began to close as he felt like he was going to pass out.
He kept telling himself he was fine. He could handle this by himself. If this was a test in the lab he would easily pass, he was sure of it.
He decided to stand up. He shakily held onto the sink. His grip tightening as his vision went black for a second. He opened his eyes to see the door inches away from his face.
In that second he realized he couldn't do this. Whatever he was trying to prove was pointless as tears began to well in his eyes.
He grabbed the handle, unlocking it. When he opened the door the last thing he saw was green hair as his vision went black again.
____________________________________________
When Knife spoke back I was so happy. Then I was worried again. Tessa ran to the door, pounding on it to get him to open up. I don't know why she thought that would work, it probably scared him more, but I guess Tessa was also scared.
I didn't know what to do to get him to open the door and come out. I felt bad. I wanted to help but I think I just made it worse. I felt lonely. Knife was like my only friend, if he died I would be all alone.
I think I started crying a little. I was scared. Then I felt a hand rested on my arm. I looked over to see...To see Taco. She looked back at me and I didn't have the energy to push her away.
It was nice to have someone there for me I guess (we're still not friends).
Eventually the door opened and Knife fell into Tessa's arms. I ran over to see he was fast asleep and his side was bleeding again. He looked so uncomfortable. I leaned over him and told him he was going to be okay.
Tessa told Fin to do something, I don't remember what. And then they went back to the hospital.
When Knife woke up he was so upset, but he gets to come back home quicker this time. Just a few days, Tessa told me.
He isn't happy that Tessa and Fin are so worried about him now but that's what he gets. I also wish he didn't do what he did, he won't tell me why.
But it's fine now....I should go do something else now.
hello this is for the account owner.,.,., is the whole thing on wattpad the same way children of gods is on it? and i mean all of it like the vent arc etc etc
CreatorNotes: Nope, unfortunately. The only reason I put COG on wattpad is cuz it was small. Lab Rats is way too big to move over there. But I might do it when it's LR is finished

yooooo dy think dr spoon would have some sort of rivalry or annoyed relationship w/ PB? Srry I just think it’d b funny for this grown ass scientist man having beef w/ a pyrokinetic tennager lmao
CreatorNotes: Yes, and it is very funny. Paintbrush thinks he's a loser lol
Does Paintbrush ever get overstimulated or anything? What do the others think when they see them like that?
"DON'T TOUCH ME!"
"Sorry, Paintbrush. It was an accident."
CreatorNotes: These sketches are also kinda look into my process w/ the comics
Anyway to answer the question, yes they get overstimulated a lot. I mean they're trapped in a small room with 14 other kids, it can get really loud in there. Most of the kids don't even notice tbh, and the ones who do just try to leave them alone
atp by the end of the emo taco arc if it ever ends, taco will be drowning in plushies
CreatorNotes: here's an ask i never finished.
Real quick I'm gonna post some sketches of asks i don't feel like finishing cuz they take place when the kids were back in the lab (well for the most part)

What was paintbrushs reaction to lightbulb almost dying???
CreatorNotes: None of the doctors would have told them what happened. Once they decided Lightbulb was okay they sent her back in the room with everyone. I think at this point Lightbulb was still out of it and a little traumatized from literally dying.
She ofc told Paintbrush first thing but I don't think they would’ve believe her, at least not at first., maybe not even for a few days.
But when they do realize she was telling the truth they definitely freak out. They are very good at being over protective of their friends
