anyone else think about how dennis canonically wears a fucking waist trainer as much as i do?

like what do you mean he had ALL THIS going on under that suit at the high school reunion? and it was obvious enough that other people could see it through his shirt?

it makes me insane. because it also begs the question of how often he does this. how long has he been using a slimming device for? does he continue to wear it throughout later seasons? is it a staple in the Dennis Reynolds wardrobe? do any of the other members of the gang know that he wears a fucking corset under his clothes? we all know there’s only one bathroom in the macden apartment; has Mac ever accidentally walked in on Dennis while on his way to shower to find him nervously cramming himself into it before a night out? did they ever speak about it? or is it a complete secret that he only uses for special occasions?

was researching visuals and came across these old-timey adverts from the 50s and they immediately made me think of him like they’re soooooo dennis; “designs for the the fuller figure”, “intended to combat the consequences of indulgent dining”, he’s such a classy lady !!!!

its probably just one of these compression belt things that men wear but this doesn’t fit his vibe as much. plus, considering the shape of the dress he indirectly caters to his own measurements in s03ep05 and his feminine styling tendencies and his yummy voluptuous hips, i personally like to imagine he wears the womens one

Tim Murphy’s wife actually mean as hell for drawing attention to it like that - like c’mon girl he just wanted to seem thin for the occasion - but there’s also something so funny about him being more inclined to admit he’s gained weight than he is to tolerate gay allegations. also i like to view his untucked shirt as implication that he removed the girdle before executing plan B so that he could dance his ass off with #NoRestrictions

he’s just like. The King of Hedonism. like he’ll go through all these ridiculous extremes - home injections, stimulant abuse, face tape, pec pads, taking his jeans in, contouring his cheekbones, wearing fucking Tummy-Control underwear - in order to “seem in shape”, but he won’t just diet or work out. he’s the classic “guys help how can i lose weight WITHOUT eating less or exercising more?” and i think that’s beautiful - he wants to have his cake AND eat it literally
