GOOD TO BE BACK.

   ❛      there’s a thing that’s catching on. it’s called ‘knocking’. why don’t you try it out ? ❜

           HE LAUGHS A BIT, adjusting his seat and making himself ready to hear another one of koschei’s ‘foolproof plans’. it’s almost as if it’s become routine: she’d come bursting in, he’d sit there and nod, and eventually roll with it —— who the hell cared if it went wrong ? it was about them, them having fun together. just like it always was. though sometimes it DID get to be quite repetitive, and he felt that —— maybe it was time to sort of branch off, let them do something else that seemed quite fun. especially without getting people hurt or in trouble or anything else. he looked off into the distance for a second before she called his name — eyes focused back on her. 

           ❛ yeah, but —— before you start off, can i make a suggestion ? ❜

      ❛knocking is LAME.❜ koschei says, waving a dismissive hand. ❛besides, there’s no point in us knocking on each other’s doors anymore. you’re always welcome in my room, and vice versa. well --- almost always. our roommates’ shitty attitudes and the stupid rules aren’t relevant to my point, however.❜ ( forever bitter, she was, about the fact that herself and theta were stuck in foster care, where the supervisors tried to limit the amount of time they spent together because he was a boy and she was a girl. )

( mostly ) angst starter sentences. 

      ❛well, you must be too, theta, since you’re going along with this and helping me.❜ he’s called her insane too many times before for it to bother her anymore. koschei turns, walking about a foot in front of him.❛this is going to work, theta. it has to. our streak will be ruined if it doesn’t.❜ she slowed to a stop, a serious look on her face. ❛theta. you don’t wanna back out, do you? because i can’t pull this off without you.❜

                             ( she needed him, not just to help with this prank, but to be with her, through anything. he was the only person she’d call a friend; the only person who hadn’t abandoned or otherwise disappointed her in the seventeen years she’d been alive; the only person who understood her and made her feel like she wasn’t alone. 

                              they were barely eight when they met, two lonely foster kids who ended up in the same group home. at that point, he was JOHN and she was CLARA, and they came from similar backgrounds — unknown parents, given their name by child protective services because they could not remember much of anything, not even what they were called. they’d both been in several homes, foster of not, before f i n a l l y being placed in a group home in peckham. theta was already there when she came, quieter than even she was, and that had intrigued her. koschei had bothered him endlessly, until he just GAVE UP on trying to ignore her and finally — finally!!! — spoke to her. after that, the pair had become fast friends, rarely seen without each other.

                                    now, nine years later, they were inseparable. the only time they weren’t together was when they were sleeping, and that was because they weren’t allowed to sleep in the same room ( the same B E D was absolutely out of the question ) by the people who ran the group home. some kids at school thought they were dating ( they were … kinda ), or just fucking ( no ), and a fair amount of the other kids living in the group home did too. )

      ❛i know — finally, after months and months … you trusted me again. enough to let me be on my own, to let me out of your sight for longer than ten minutes.❜ she pauses, biting the inside of her cheek in thought. ❛y’know, me trying to be GOOD — that wasn’t an act. it was genuine. but one can only fight against their nature for so long …❜ the master turned away, placing the knife she’d been twirling in her hand back on the table — there wouldn’t be any torturing today. this was going to be a civil conversation.❛for a while, doctor, i d i d want to be good. saving people … it made me feel like i was finally doing something i could be proud of. but then, after i accidentally killed that man .. god, i’d forgotten how good being bad can feel, doctor. and i asked myself, why be good when you can have fun?❜
