Readymade Bodies; Final
Title; False Advertising
Materials;
Lamp
Felt
Headphones wires
Headphone ear pads
Headphone packaging
Dimensions; 11 in x 9 in
Statement;
For my final assignment, I wanted to have an object that I could still relate to the body. With the shape of the lamp, I immediately thought of headphones. Taking the parts of a former headset that no longer functioned, I attached them to the lamp. I also wanted to play with the idea that you don’t always get what you pay for, the lamp itself being bigger and not being able to fit the mold of the packaging of actual headphones.Â

Title; Untitled
Materials;Â
Cast of Hand
Plastic Plates
Plastic UtensilsÂ
Napkins
Blanket
Gift Box
Dimensions; 62 in x 48 in
Statement;
This project was certainly different for me. I had never made a cast of anything before so that worried me a bit. I was very afraid I was going to mess up the entire time when making the cast. I believe because I worried so much and had difficulty pulling my hand out of the mold; that caused the imperfections. Also as I was cutting the mold apart, the pinky snapped off when releasing the hand but that is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to portray a sort of unhealthy way of giving a piece of yourself through a gesture that symbolizes a promise. I also wanted to set up the piece as if it was sort of a picnic date with the blanket. My classmates brought up plenty of ideas I didn't consider and I am thankful for their insight. Moving on I will keep their suggestions in mind.Â

Title; The Head Is Not A Hat Rack
Materials;Â
Rebar
8 plastic skulls
4 different hats
Telephone wire
Dimensions; 60 in x 9 in
Statement;
When going into this project, I had a couple of ideas from picking the head, ribcage, or eyes as a main focus of the piece. When looking at the rebar supplied to us, I couldn’t help but think of a hat rack. I wanted a play on words sort of thing with a phrase my dad always used to tell me when developing further into the assignment. “The head is not a hat rack.” meaning our heads wasn’t just a space where our hats could occupy, that it can be used for all sorts of ideas and thinking outside the box. My only real difficulties were being slightly intimidated by the process of welding and my original ideas for the skulls not working out. But in the end I was able to get some former Halloween lights and attach them without putting any overbearing weight on the rack itself.Â

Wood

Ribbon
Dimensions; 13 in x 10 inÂ
Statement;
At first making the table wasn’t too difficult at the beginning of this project. The most issue I had was moving it around due to its weight. I also lost a drill bit to one of the pieces of wood but it didn’t stop my progress.Â
Disassembling it was easy as well. If anything I hesitated in doing so since I was having trouble deciding what to make and didn’t want to redo any work I undid.Â
Eventually the idea of making a dream catcher spawned. A table if the need arises can be a form of protection; whether you hide underneath it or kick it to its side as a shield. I also see dream catchers as a form of protection, since they capture the bad dreams you would have had they not been there.Â
I assembled it the best I could and tried to have the ribbon symbolize caught nightmares by being tangled in the net. I tried using felt previously but it didn’t give the effect I wanted.Â

Small sketches of my ideas and the process of building the table.Â
It wasn’t too difficult, the only major issue I had being one of my drill bits breaking off into the table.Â

Please excuse the double of the last gif. For some reason this is the only way for me to get the gif to work properly.Â
